  1. Looks even much better - older in style, fits the period of time.
  2. hat in the ring

Well, it's your oppinion, Siggi. I think, that something, that was part of the whole briefing all the time, and that made it possible for me to get some better agility out of the craft, should not suddenly be dropped. For me, it would spoil the sim, cause I am mostly flying the Albatros. And with 100% fuel filled in, it isn't fun anymore. And how would you know the real pilots didn't do it? It would be one of the easiest measures to make a craft more agile.
  3. hat in the ring

Pol, I have checked it with HUD now, and it's true - no petrol management in a craft with individual skin. Now I was among the happy ones to get my individual skin all for my self. But without fuel management, flying and fighting in an Albatros would be useless. It would just take the edge out of it, and the fun. I hope you find a solution - or change it back to as it was before. I'd rather share the skin with my wingmen, than fly a brick with 100% fuel. That would spoil it for me.
  4. hat in the ring

Bullethead just claimed, that only the instrument showed wrong, but when he went over the fuel gauge with his mouse, it showed 30 %, like he had filled in. Must check that out.
  5. Tch, Bullethead - will you ever do anything just like everybody else? MikeDixon, I think it fits - funny and naive, like those guys where.
  6. hat in the ring

Well, but now we got soooo close, it would be nice to have both, still. But about the flyability, you are right. Petrol management is an absolute MUST.
  7. My download failed on my old system twice, but worked, when I did it on the new rig with just new Firefox - no additional download manager.
  8. hat in the ring

Bulls**t - she is a beautiful bird, and with 30 % of petrol filled in, I climb vertically after your a*s, even when you fly a Camel, until I have shot it away! You all should try petrol management - and see what a great craft a D II or D III can be. Even with 100 % (which I didn't know then) I managed to turn with a Nupe and shoot it down in the end! Tch!!! Crumpets!!!
  9. hat in the ring

Aaahhh! That explains, why my beloved Albatros suddenly behaves like a stuffed goose.
  10. Wind Buffeting..question please?

Amen to that! Even with two guns, I couldn't kill more than two SPAD VII in my just made sortie, plus damage a Nupe 17. Maybe the "twin Spandaus rule the skies" time is over? Or at least restricted. I think it's better this way. The sortie was intense, and concentrated, and fun.
  11. Now I can go "skin shopping"...

Before you go to download a "user changed skin" (I don't say "user made", cause the original skin being used was made by OvS, Paarma, Makai or Sandbagger), you should browse through the incredible amount of 4.000 skins given to you already. Get "DXTBmp" (freeware - google for it) and browse through them. As long as you pick an ace skin from another Jasta, you would be the only one to fly it in your campaign (unless you met the ace, who's skin you fly). If you have a paint or photo program, you can add a logo or a letter after your taste (convert the skin to a 24 bit bmp with DXTBmp, add your stuff, and reconvert it into a dds file to place in the skin folder).
  12. HITR First Impressions

Thank you, Barkhorn and von Paulus - will try that.
  13. Guys, before Widowmaker drowns in work - get yourself the freeware "DXTBmp" (google for it) to browse through the now 4.000 (!) skins. You will be amazed, how many individual skins there are especially on German side. You will surely find a great design, that isn't used in your Jasta, and so it will be your individual skin there now.
  14. HITR First Impressions

The admin crapp was completely disabled by my computer specialist. But where do I find that decimal symbol?
  15. Wind Buffeting..question please?

Yes, indeed, Hasse Wind - Creaghorn will love that! I tried the new Fokker E.V in a QC last night, and it is as agile and almost as nervous as the Dr.1 - very hard to hit someone.
  16. HITR First Impressions

Well, my slider wheren't full up; they are 5,4,4,5,3 I'll check ground object density then, and go one down with sceney slider. Would you recommend to go to XP Compatibility mode for OFF, Winder?
  17. HITR First Impressions

My first impressions are very good, but I also have a big problem. Finally got my new rig ready and set up. It's main components are: E8300 Dual Core CPU with 2.83 GHz ATI HD4870 graphic card with 2 GB memory 4 GB RAM System: Windows Vista 32 bit Now I must say, all seems to run much smoother, even over airfields. It was just an exciting joy to fly over the beautifully made world, and an extensive dogfight was still running smooth and fine. But then somewhere later in the fighting, it all froze. That happened both flights I made so far. The first time, all was so stuck, not even the "monkey grip" got me out - had to reboot. The second time, I pressed "escape" and got beamed back to the briefing - but two claims lost. Any ideas, anyone? Should I simulate XP for this sim?
  18. Widowmaker, I KNEW you where a good man. Gemütliche Weihnachten - Merry Christmas for you and your family!
  19. One tip for your ordering Europeans: let the price be shown in Euro; there is a choice for that. Now you can see, what "Hat in the Ring" costs, and then click the insurance box, and now you see, what that would cost (23,- Euro and something it was). Then it's your decision. I chose the insurance, cause I tried downloading with an old system and old version of Firefox. It failed twice. Then I got my new rig set up for internet access, and did it with that (new Firefox version). This time - my third attempt - it worked straight away. So you can use Winder's offer of help, to make sure you get the version definitely, or you spend a little more, and have the chance to download it again over two years. Hope that helps to clear things for you.
  20. appraiserfl, get yourself the freeware "DXTBmp" - with that you can browse through the skins. The are here: (Your game folder) > Campaigns > Campaign data > skins Click on a skin, and you see it - that way you will definitely find one of 4.000 skins, that you like. Also, you can convert a skin with this program into a 24 bit bitmap, which you can now paint in in a paint program. When you are ready, convert it back to .dds format and into that skins folder.
  21. See the sticky threads - I think, Siggi updated it there.
  22. At the third attempt, I got it full size. It's installed and working! More tomorrow.
  23. Okay, I did the whole thing including the insurance - that's a little more than 23,- Euro altogether. The download was pretty fast even on my old rig (I use Firefox). Now one more question: can that be right, that a total of over 400 MB is zipped to little more than 10 MB.
  24. The Bordeauxred Baron: Deer Mr. Widowmaker! Zee Triplane vill newer cut ze throat off ze "Flyink Razor" surely. Firstly, it voss long time out of service, vhen ze E.V came along, and secondly - ze "Razor" iss ze one to cutt ze throats, mein Herr! Mmuahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!!
  25. Wind Buffeting..question please?

Don't hate yourself, Widow, cause then you would have to hate me, too. How often do I miss obvious things in front of me on the screen. Sometimes I want to chopp my useless head off! You're not alone, m8.
