Hat In The Ring is a Must Have
Olham replied to Rickitycrate's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hear, hear! You are storming wide open gates in my case, Rickitycrate - I will go to download it now. Had to strictly forbid it to me, as long as the tax declaration of 2008 wasn't done. But now it is!!! Hope, my web rig won't be too old and slow for the download - it's still running with Win98. We'll see! -
"Muszt I bee vorried now? Twin gunzz on der Nieuport 17? Firink ssrough der propellor???!"

Hmm...can't install the expansion.

To be precise about re-activating an old pilot in a new install: 1. If he was your old pilot no. 5 in the campaign Log, his files will be called "pilot6". 2. You should now create 5 pilots 3. Now replace the files of the 5. pilot (who's files will be called pilot6 !) with your old ones. That should work. -
You mean, you won't get just "declared dead" anymore, but can do your best to land the damaged craft - and even succeed in it? That would indeed be great!

How do I make custom skins for my ace in HIR

Am I just in a dull mood, that it annoys me, that some people always find something disappointing, instead of being excited? Maybe my December mood... -

Will Mr. Gates' boys ever get it right? -
Hat in the Ring looks great but....

Morris, I am flying OFF yet on my old rig with an E6650 Dual Core CPU and an ATI RADEON X1900. Sliders on 5,2,3,3,1 I will install OFF on the new rig this weekend. There I use an overclocked E8300 Dual Core CPU, an ATI RADEON 4870 with 2 GB memory, and 4 GB RAM. I will report how it works. If VISTA should make problems, I'll go back to Win XP without hesitation, Mr. Gates. And how much do we all understand about engines? Winder recently said, there was still a lot in there to show. I think the man knows his job. Siggi, I have always preferred the attractive brunettes! -
Sorry, if I was a bit bold red loud. You just did the more important things first. And when I scrolled further down the forum, I saw it announced everywhere. I don't think the community will need long to run the server hot.
-
Does this mean, it is downloadable already??? Edit: Hey, you guys are great developers, but lousy businessmen! Why don't you change that blinking text in the above advert to: Available now!!
-
Just read the announcements made in the "Hat in the Ring" advertising. Wow! We will have wind buffeting effects available soon! That should add some reality and challenge! Looking at the screenshots, I saw many fine improvements. See the airfield from above; there are all the rolling trails in the grass; the buildings seem more detailed now. The hilly landscapes look even so much better now - it will be great to just fly over the land. Bursting from anticipation? Yes, Sirs!

Not sure, what exactly DirectX 11 does. But since my "new" rig has an ATI 4870, it can not do that. I am playing "STALKER - Call of Pripjat" on it, and will finally put "Over Flanders Fields" on it too this weekend. As for STALKER - it looks great! Whatever DirectX11 does - I don't miss it. And I don't think I will miss anything on OFF, except perhaps reflecting water surfaces. In OFF, the whole "picture" (aircraft and landscapes) is an artistic creation rather than a photo-realistic image. So, whilst the latter may benefit from visual effects there, OFF possibly wouldn't so much. -
Lou, my knowledge about the persona of WW1 is next to none - I've only yet started a year ago. But knowing your other picture is borrowed from Edward "Mick" Mannock, I guess, it's him?
-
Damn, I still have no account there; entered my data this morning. That takes ages!
-
Thank you for posting this, Gremlin! I think we should all go and visit SimHQ for this poll - what do all you say? Let's move OFF up some notches!
-
Manfred's "Lucky Leather Coat", indeed, Pacman.
-
Yeah, OvS looks like a Spartan with a drogue parachute under his jacket! Here's another "silly" attempt to look like the real aces. Who knows, who's leather jacket I am wearing here?

As if you bunch needed appetizers - but here they are anyway. Nieuport 28 at Old Warden Take the time to see it getting airborne, and listen to the commentator. DH-5 (and DH-2) Short video, but a rare craft to see flying at all. Fokker E.V / D.VIII Very short takeoff and good climb. Engine seems really to be a rotary. Enjoy!
-
If you haven't seen it yet - enjoy. And if you want to experience an S.E.5 in flight: here's all the immense noise and strong vibration of the craft

Could this be a legal way of E-mail address fishing?
-
Ah - found one for you. Cheers, Simon!
-
Couldn't have said it any better, Dej. Yes, for 6,- Pounds it's a bargain.
-
Happy birthday, "Lord Flashheart" (Woof! Woof!)! We've come to the age, where we have to buy our best presents ourselves, I'm afraid. But your last line sounded quite conciliable.

Polovski: Buffeting here is wind that rapidly bursts and you feel it when flying, pushes the craft around some. That should be what you mean, Creaghorn?

OT Looking forward to this

Hmm - maybe one day, when it's on a cheap level. I would rather wait for Oleg's "Battle of Britain" sim (forgot the name), cause he will get it right. His IL2 was the best I had seen for WW2 aircraft. -
Changing Aircraft during a campaign?
Olham replied to Morris's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Beastie Boy: Right now if I want ot start out in an Eindecker in 1915 I have to wait for a long long time for a halby then go straight to a DVII. Sorry, but which Jasta would that be? Between the Halberstadt and the D VII you have all the Albatros versions, the Pfalz and the Dr.1 available. The team has given us a sim with many more flyable aircraft than RoF offered for the money, and since OFF costs only about 30,- Euro now (I think), it's the damn best bargain you could get on the whole planet. The aim of this team is surely to provide the player with all aircraft type sooner or later. And they do what they can - this is not their only job though. Building a model is a helluva lot of nervewrecking work; so it takes a long time to build just one aeroplane. But they will come. Last not least: How to change the Jasta This is a way how you can change from one Jasta to another. It is NOT an "official" way proclaimed by the makers, but a way another simmer found working, and it worked for me, too. Go to the pilot files, which you find here: (Your sim folder) > campaigns > campaign data > pilots Your pilot will be one number higher there, than in the Log; so if the log shows Pilot No. 5, he will have three files with "pilot6". Make a safety backup copy of his file "pilot dossier". Then choose the third line, which shows his Jasta, to the Jasta number you want to go to. His log may still show the first Jasta at the first mission now, but when you have flown one, it will be changed, and he will keep his claims, victories and medals. You know, it's always easy to complain about something, that isn't right yet. What about having some good fun with what you have available?
