  1. When I came to OFF, I came from faster aircraft, too. IL2, the powerful prop fighters of WW2. But here, I really got into fighting with the aircraft as a whole, rudder means a lot here, and you always need to care about the energy not getting lost. Acceleration isn't just pushing the jet throttle forward and start the afterburner - here you have to find out about the strengths and the weaknesses of each craft. No rockets to lock on a target - a whole craft must get manoeuvered so, that you can fire your gun(s) at your opponent. In other words - no rocketing, but REAL flying. And you, Sakai, should just go to www.overflandersfields.com and find how to order it. You liked Red Baron? Some of the OFF devs have come from there! You can't do a thing wrong! (And I don't get percentage to say this!)

Tch! I don't believe it - UncleAl, the big charming boy! Only you can get away with this, Unc !
  3. RD1, do you fly full DiD already? I mean, without Labels on, and without TAC screen? If so, you did really well for a first flight, and you could keep it that hard way, cause you will learn the real feel flight much better "without those crutches". You have a map to look at in flight, and in there are the routes and waypoints, and even a little yellow aeroplane sign moving along the line - or not (when you're off the course). The tough reality freaks use only that map, no "radar". Welcome in our ranks again, pilot! Or must I say "pilotesse"? Not sure... Anyway: my boys and I wouldn't mind getting a photograph of you in your black leather flying outfit!

Sopwiths Pup and Triplane, you heathen... Your bucket of cold water was a good idea, mighty - I see clearly now! But I won't say more about the Pup or the Triplane now. Only so much: I have a friend in England - and he also has a funny taste.

OvS, English is nothing complicated compared to German. A friend of mine is American, and now speaks German very well. But what should I answer him on his questions about gender? Where English only has "the", we have "der" (male), "die" (female), and "das" (things). Now he says: why is it "der Mond" (the moon), die Sonne (the sun), and "das Kind" (the child) ? Are children things? Why is the moon male, but not the sun? Or "der Tisch" (the table), but "das Sofa" (the sofa)? What should I answer him?

Heee! Who put those asterisks into my cows**t??!! Gous, I heard that. Not nice to insult my Albatros like that. But it must be envy - cause there isn't ONE British craft, that was beautiful.
  7. oohhh i got it !

Holy Moly! OvS - I wouldn't go that far. Vomit colour? Perhaps camel s**t green? Cows**t green? - but never vomit colour! And seriously now - I would fly her, if in a British squadron. Think, she was a very fast bitch with a good turn. Nessy, if I may use that: the craft in your shopping center at Farnborough should be an S.E.5 (only got a small pic in the web).

Sometimes lazyness can produce the easy good things. So you lazy bums created a language with only few sillabels words. Also you just use "the" instead of "der, die or das". That makes English really easy to learn and a world language IMHO. Ringo Starr was a lazy drummer, as he said about himself. Only played the really necessary beats and bashes. And isn't it great? I love his drumming.

racindriver1: Its me that looks good in black leather !!! lol No doubt, you do! Fortunately, you'll wear a flying leather hood too, and goggles. Otherwise I had to be a bit worried about my wingmen's group discipline. Widowmaker: Just remember Olham, my good friend and adversary!...WE won! Well, you, and the Canadians, and the Australians, and the Americans - you and all those together won. It would have been a damn shame, if you hadn't. Ooops! Forgot the French! Gous: It is always about the looks...no woman would hop into an Se5a. Yet, that ugly green-brown flying dog would kick the ___ of any German Albatros. Gous, you could have known better. Many S.E.5a where shot down by Albatros fighters, and not only by MvR or Udet. I also fly Albatros, as you know, and I do it, whenever I meet some.

Dutch, just stop thinking too negative. The campaign pilot will to 99% still be fine after your install of the add-on. Promised! The devs can't promise such things, of course, cause they never know the rigs and the sometimes strange ways of people installing something. But I know, they are doing a good job, always, so don't worry. I have good campaign pilots myself, but that won't keep me from getting the add on on my rig.

racindriver1: ...so i can fly for either good ole blighty or the frogs...but my heart as always been the same.. ill be german swine through and through when flying..lol. Haha, Widowmaker, there is a good knowledge of dangerous twin gun aircraft, combined with a good sense of style, which we always prove with our beautifully painted birds. Welcome in our ranks, racindriver. One last thing though: you would find as many "swine" in Great Britain, France or anywhere else in the world; as in Germany. And as many good people. Bordeauxred Baron: Vott? Manfred, you vant too giv der beszt Dsherrman aircraft to a lady? MvR: Well, she said, she is not a lady. Bordeauxred Baron: Butt she sait off uss, vee are Schweinehunde? MvR: She said, she'll be German swine through and through when flying. That might make her a nice neighbour in the mess though? And in the air, I wouldn't have her any other way. Bordeauxred Baron: Zatt could bee funn, venn ze Crumpetz get zeyr bumz kicked by a lady! Mmuahahahahahaaaa!!!!
  12. oohhh i got it !

What took you so long, racindriver? Well, now you're here. And that was definitely the cutest "Ooohhh! I got it!" I have ever found here so far. You could set "aircraft" in your graphics to "5", and if necessary, deminish therefor clouds to 3 or 2. The "graphics settings" are a bit tricky to get all right. But somewhere should be screenshots among the stickies, of the "overrides" and "texture" settings. Does anyone remember where? That framerates thing would interest me too. Does anyone know, where to set it? So you want to kick arses, eyh? Well, if you want to fly "without crutches", in "Full DiD Mode" (no Labels, no TAC, no Warp, no "advisor messages" etc.), you might have an eye on the "Krauts vs Crumpets" MP Competition we have just started. But it is hard - OFF may have some of the most dangerous AI available.

The Phantom is a warbird, that isn't so obviously beautiful as a Sukhoi "Flanker". But like with girls - the hidden beauty may last longer. I always liked her powerful look. And as I just mentioned those two: I saw both performing on the ILA near Berlin, with the new Eurofighter. The Eurofighter, and instable plane, was a crazy show. The pilot pulled the throttle back (or how they call it in jets) and let the craft fall out the sky like a tumbling leaf. 70 meters above ground, he pushed throttle full forward, and the jet shot up into the sky almost like a rocket. It's made of most modern components and maybe a great fighter - but it's ugly as hell. Then came the Flanker and did the famous "Z" manoeuver. Starting at the bottom line of the "Z", the pilot pulled back stick and she went up like a wild mustang, underside against the air, cockpit further behind than the engines, and then up he zoomed, backwards, until he pulled back throttle, layed her right forward again, and off he shot away. A perfect "Z". Now came the Phantom, and I knew she is a Fifties design, like me. Of course she cannot perform neither the Flanker's manoeuver, nor the Eurofighter's. But what they did, was coming in in a shallow dive, and close above the runway, he pulled her up, until she zoomed into the sky like a rocket! Afterburners firing, a roaring thunder like a thousand lions, and a climb, that was definitely forbidden for a 50s craft other than a Lockheed Starfighter. But they wanted to show everyone on the ground, what a powerful aircraft they flew. A great Goodbye for a great bird!

    Thanks, OvS.
  15. Grounded!

Sounds like one of those kids, who become politicians later?
  16. Wolfram Von Richtoffen

A last addition: the name was "von Richthofen" - for the cousin too.
  17. OT England Expects!

Hardy: "The men are a bit worried about shooting at anyone, Admiral." Nelson: "What ? This is mutiny !" Hardy: "It's not that, sir. It's just that they're afraid of being charged with murder if they actually kill anyone. There's a couple of legal-aid lawyers on board, watching everyone like hawks." This is exactly what happens to the German soldiers in Afghanistan. Left alone even by their governement, that still can't decide about a war being fought, and insist, it was a "police duties mission". As "police", the boys are only allowed to fire a weapon, when they are already being shot at. No preventive measures! And when they shoot, they may have to face a trial. That is another form of the insanity of warfare.

Would you now please explain, who Stewie is? Is it a comic or a trickfilm?
  19. Wolfram Von Richtoffen

Then let's all be glad it came as it came. It was all bad enough.
  20. Hat in the ring

Dutch, you always have a rest-risk, when installing something new. It will probably go alright. So you can do as Pol says - or risk it. I'll risk it.
  21. Lone Wolf

Hmm - I don't see it that way, but tastes are different. (Like some say, the American "Phantom" was an ugly crow - I find her beautiful). You could try the Halberstadt or Bristol Scout then.
  22. Grounded!

My, what a beauty, that D Va from Jasta 5! You lucky guys have one ready to fly down under?
  23. Holy Moly! Yes, those Jasta 18 boys can scare the s. out of you! I remember getting shot down in my pretty well going 1918 SPAD XIII campaign. I had managed to avoid a D VII and let is overshoot - only to get jumped at by another ace in a red and white Dreidecker from right above!
  24. Ooops!! That's "Kleinholz" now. (Fire wood)
