Siggi's Full DiD Campaign - The Krauts Side - Olham's Pilot 3. Flight, October 30, 1916, 14:15 h - Scramble Wingmen: 1 Daniel Wolf, 2 Rolf Meyer, 3 Johann Perrmann Victories: 4 Airco DH-2 Right at start, we got under attack from lots of sand coloured DH-2. All took place at very low altitude, often at tree top level. Very early on, I peppered three of them myself, and then brought my observer into position. He also hit them, and within 10 minutes, all three of them must have crashed. Perrmann was badly hit, and I shot a DH-2 off his tail. He now stayed near me, and we both fought together. As a team, we succeeded in hitting several fighters severely. At least one more got on my account. I collected several hits, and my craft got damaged on landing, but I'm alright. Only after landing, I saw, that our field was also attacked by Nieuports. One tent was burning. But altogether, the enemy must have lost 8 - 10 DH-2 in that raid. Our pilots did all return intact.

Meine Herren! I had the honour this morning to make two sorties with the new Imperial fighter, the Albatros D II. This aircraft got me absolutely stunned! It has very strong engine and is faster than the French Nieuport, has a good climb and dive ability, and on top of it all it is carrying two light machine guns LMG 08/15 7,92 mm, both firing through the propellor circle! With this craft, we will reign the skies over Flanders - we will be able to shred the Entente aircraft to small stripes of canvas! I have brought these pictures with me - isn't she a real beauty? (I'm almost ready with that skin and wanted to make your mouths water. I tried Creaghorn's sign on it. As you may see, the bottom part of the skin covers the lower point of the triangle - little odds, you always come across with skinning. I'll soon show all the various signs of our Elitegruppe. -

Anyone else been flying already? I have just made my first hour - see here: http://forum.combatace.com/topic/37518-off-bhah-reports-from-the-front/page__view__findpost__p__353682 With me where Daniel 'Creaghorn' Wolf, Rolf 'Baldric' Meyer, Johann 'Rickitycrate' Handlich and Johann 'Mr Lucky' Perrmann. All returned home to base safe and sound. No enemy contact. -

Johann, arhh - Mr. Lucky, before we mess around in those files, we could just leave it up to Siggi's pilots list. You just send your victories there, and he'll sum them up. Johann, arhhh - Rickitycrate, I can't help - still running XP. Sorry. Anyone else? -

Männer - alle mal herhören! (Attention please, gentlemen!) Intelligence was bluffed by false enemy combat plans! Instead of starting their attacks on November 5th, the enemy has started them today! When the cat enters the room, the mice run around - but we are not the mice in my example! We rely on our Flak - they will protect us and our field, and shoot the Tommy out of the sky! And we will soon start our own attacks with our brandnew delivered DFW C.V. They are all painted now. To get your craft assigned, go to our group's news board - you'll find it there. Then make sure you have got all the settings right - follow the rules please! Later today, some of us will fly a first mission. I will be there, when you start. Keep this in mind: No one can say, how long this war is going to go. As you all know, our greatest ace, Leutnant Boelcke, will not see the end of it. He surely was a calm, a cool person when it came to combat. Still though, he died in a collision. What I want to say is: the only help besides the help of god must come from yourself - if you fail to do the right thing for only one minute, if you give up, it could be your and your observer's end. I'm not the man for flaming speeches, I just say: get there and back in one piece! And don't forget to drop your "turnips" on the enemy's fields and fighters! Bring them hell! -
Time flies, when you're having toast! But to bring "the baby" up to this altitude in 5 years doesn't seem too long for me. You where at it all the time, I suppose.

Good one, Zoomzoom. Siggi, you mess it all up for me with your new starting time, as I still need to finish our DFW skin for a bit. Couldn't you give me at least a little more time - and start on November 1st? That's saturday. Everyone may have a bit more time there anyway? Here are the German names I got so far. VonGuber, I know you wrote yours somewhere, but can't find it. Baldric = Leutnant Rolf Meyer Blue781 = Leutnant Wilhelm von Konigstein Creaghorn = Leutnant Daniel Wolf Hasse Wind = Leutnant Friedrich Wilhelm Freiherr von Roeder Mr. Lucky = Leutnant Johann 'Lucky' Perrmann Olham = Leutnant Juergen Jeschonnek Rickitycrate = Leutnant Johann Handlich Rooster89 = Leutnant Rudol Spaatz 77Scout = Leutnant Max Muehler Velvet = Leutnant Albert 'Velvet' Kreipe VonGuber = Zoomzoom = Leutnant Argus Starke -
When I read the names underneath, I got it: that was the birth of Phase 1, right?

Did some more test flying the DFW. We had a SCRAMBLE with them. First I thought, it must be an error, but there where Fees overhead. Okay, I thought, Fees I will take on! And up we went! First I shot one down with my front gun, and damaged another severely. But then my ammo was out (haven't yet found the spot, where the bullets go - the F6 gunsight is bulls**t). So I followed underneath and sidewards, and my observer gave them some. But they fought back and hit us twice. I switched Labels on, and found, that was an ace craft! Aha! My gunner was doing very well, and we got them. But short after that, my engine stopped again! The DFW is more difficult to sail than an Albatros; you got to push the nose down more, which shortens the descend quite a bit. But we landed next to a farm house, and a beautiful French girl came running out with a freshly baked pear tarte with almonds; she had black hair, and she said she liked Germans, for their country's poetry and music, and then she kissed me on the cheek and said, her parents where of to visit an uncle in Aix-en-Provence, which meant, they wouldn't be back until Sunday, and she asked me, if I would like to have a glass of wine with her... Well-ll - the last bit could have been a dream. But the DFW and my observer are doing great! -

Ras: We've got a cracking bunch of fellows in our squadron and we'll be coming at you day and night, night and day. Uuuuuhhhh!!!! Now I'm frightened! Well, you'll have to do so, day and night (when we prefer to feast or sleep), to perhaps have a slight chance. Red-Dog, I wouldn't mind any personal signs, but better ask Siggi - he made the rules. -

Okay - and then you went to the States and "americanised your memories": it is "Friedrich" instead of Frederick, and "Wiesbaden" instead of Weisbaden. (But that's okay - our names must be hard to spell sometimes) -
OvS, we expect to see a picture of that 66 Nova Waggon, Sir. Shredward, from your job, we also expect pictures!

Meine Herren! Intelligence reports, that our British competitors seem to be dancing with joy, that they may be able to fly a twin gun craft for a short time in the near future. Well, everyone what he can, I say - we will be flying twin gun fighters all the time! Prosit on that! -

Welcome in our team, Zoomzoom! We will be in FA(A) 250 for the twoseats, and after 17 hours, or 5 kills, you will be flying an Albatros D II with our special group within Jasta 6. I'd like to fly as Juergen Jeschonnek, to honour Hans Jeschonnek from Jasta 40, who was a far relative on my father's side. -
Back in the seventies, it was possible, when you had no A-levels but O-levels (always was a dreamer, dreaming himself away from school, with the result of bad notes in mathematics, chemistry and French), that you could enter the highschool of arts with O-levels plus a related profession learnt. So I learnt typographer (and a lot about being imprisoned in a company for 8 hours a day) for three years. Then followed my army time, which I managed to reduce to twelve month, to get to the art school in time. (To achieve that, I must have pencil drawn all the relatives of my Oberfeldwebel, who in exchange signed that request positively - Lol!). After the four years at the highschool of arts in Berlin, I first jobbed for an exhibition designer; then worked mostly as a signwriter rather. I always found it hard to convince people for the graphic designs they should have used - they changed it so much to the worse quite often, that I was fed up with that job. In the nineties, I started an own signwrite company (with only me in it doing all the work), and worked for two major companies in Berlin mainly, plus smaller customers. My best jobs where airbrush works for Mercedes Benz (vans for exhibitions), and a big furniture dealer. After a first "gold rush" with the opening of the wall - many new companies got founded - the banks stopped to give credits for them in 1996, my major customer had to give up 1998, and the other paid less and less; the situation here got pretty bad, and I finally collapsed - burn out. I don't have the nerves to run a large business, and now I have cut it back to Graphic Design, which I can do from my home, and occasional sign and car writings; plus working as a graphic freelance for a printer.

Stiffy and all with no TrackIR: "Pause" button is not forbidden, as far as I read. So you could "pause", mark a target, and continue. But that kills immersion; here is something better: My joystick solution I used before TrackIR: There is a command to toggle between "static angles view" and "glide view" (forgot the correct names, you'll find it) Now, put that on an easy to reach button. As long as you are flying along, you shall use glide view now, for scanning the skies. Once a fight begins, toggle to "static angles view". That is even faster than TrackIR for a quick check six. I have never used padlock, never. Last and best advice: GET TRACKIR rather sooner than later. Make it an advanced/preponed Christmas present to yourself - you will LOVE yourself for that! -
