  1. Siggi honoured me by allowing me to choose the Jasta, and maybe also the DFW staffel. As I don't have any experience there, ideas by those who flew DFW C.V are welcome. I will choose a Jasta after my two criteria: - a Jasta that moves a lot, so we see different areas and opponents - a Jasta that gets all the aircraft, if possible Rickitycrate, beware of high spirits. The persoanl crate will soon be mine as becoming an ace will be a short matter of time. Please remember everybody, we want to make it over a long time. You can of course make 5 victories within short time. You can even get home in the pine box within short time. I think, if we want to last long, we should do it like MvR: only attack when you are sure you can win. Keep the high spirits and the hot spur for your other pilots, otherwise you'd have to do the re-entry with the D.F.W. C.V again.
  2. Whats the music for this game?

Well, you should google for the composer, Matt Milne, who wrote the most of the music, like the heroic opening tune. There is a website where you can hear more of his stuff, but I forgot the link. There is one classic theme being used, Samuel Barber's "Adagio forStrings, Opus 11" - that's the very melodramatic piece. It was, as far as I know, played on the burial of Manfred von Richthofen.
  3. Deutsche Piloten! Let me express my deep wish, that we will all come together in one and the same Jasta. We do not know, which one yet, but it will be announced. I have read many of your combat reports, to KNOW, you are good pilots. Now let's all try, to get even better! After a baptism of fire in D.F.W. missions, you will be ready to form an elite unit within a Jasta, you will get a good fighter craft, and you will fight where you are most needed. I will be working out a basic paint design for all our fighters, as soon as I know, which craft we will be given Once you have shot down 5 enemy craft, you will be an ace. And as an ace, you will be allowed to have a personal sign, emblem, a letter or a colour band on your crate, and I will paint it on your craft after your ideas. We will not have to fly before the 5th of November, so let us open the Champagne now, let's raise our glasses and bring out this Trinkspruch: Auf den Kaiser! Auf unser Vaterland! Salut! Oh, and, gentlemen - for those of us who find Champagne a bit dry: there will later be French Cognac, captured and real good Scotch and Irish whisky, and Doornkaat Schnaps!
  4. Hasse Wind, you only fly, what you can and want. When you only find time for one sortie on a day, you "advance time" for the missions you don't want to fly. Days, where you don't find time, you just click "advance time". The idea is, that when you fly, you will do so on that same day, so if it's the 12th November, you fly the 12th in the sim. Or you don't find time and "advance time" the next day. Also, as far as I understood, you could still click "optional flight", until you get a shorter one. Great to have you here - just only fly as much as you can. We don't want to make it a "stress factor" I'm sure.
  5. Sobering Statistics

Well, we in the so called "western world" have developed, I believe. We have created democracies, with a such lot of available information and freedom of speech. (Elsewhere in the world, they still die for that.) And I do believe, that this incredible number of young men have not died in vain. Their countless deaths planted so many crosses and carved so many and deep marks into our common sense, that no one can say anymore, he couldn't have imagined all this. You don't need no phantasy. No imagination. You just read the reports, look at the pictures, and walk over endless cemetries...
  6. Pearl Harbor Pics

Yes, I think, that "recently found sensation" bit is a make up. But I had never seen these pictures, only the film "Pearl Harbour", where the raid is shown very well. And now I see, it really did look so "Hollywood", or even worse.
  7. So here is what we have so far - I have shared the open ones to the parties. The Germans are one man shorter now. Where the heck are you, Hasse Wind? GERMANS Olham Creaghorn Baldric Mr.Lucky Rickitycrate Velvet Rooster89 77Scout BRITISH Siggi cptroyce Manuc Ras Dej RedDog Carrick RAFLouvert Stiffy
  8. You may want to read the "Reports from the Front", Mr. Lucky? Baldric has made many sorties and reports/letters from the German side. Okay, so far I recruited you for the Huns, Velvet. Now we have 6 on each side: Olham Creaghorn Baldric Mr.Lucky Rickitycrate Velvet The British: Siggi cptroyce Manuc Ras Dej RedDog
  9. Okay, so the "Huns" so far might be: Olham Creaghorn Baldric Mr.Lucky Rickitycrate The others all British? Siggi cptroyce Manuc Ras Dej RedDog
  10. Well, it depends on the choice people make - maybe you would have to come out of your Vosges for this campaign? But I think, here are two good ideas: we should find a Jasta/Squadron, that 1. operates in many different areas, from the north sea to the vosges (the more the better) 2. flies all aircraft types of that nation That should limit the choice down perfectly - what do you others say?
  11. OT Classic British Lavatory Humour

Reminds me of that joke: He: Hi, seetheart! My name is Kurt! And your's? She: Mine isn't!
  12. Mr.Lucky, will you fly "the dark side"?
  13. Siggi, you can change it, when you press "edit" and then "use full editor". Not sure for German side; I guess Baldric, Creaghorn and Olham so far.
  14. Siggi, perhaps you should change the title of this post, so more people realise, what 's going on here? So far I have counted 10: Siggi Olham Baldric cptroyce Manuc Ras Dej Creaghorn RedDog Rickitycrate
  15. WHATS YOUR BEST KILL

My recent best kill was the killing of a Brisfit. Never before had I got one down without bad engine- and other damage myself. This one, I perforated from a long distance, until it was so shot up, that I could go nearer and give it the final burst. Got only some minor hits in the wings. For picture, see here: http://forum.combata...post__p__350231
  16. Soo angry right now..

Had a mission where I downed no less than 6 aircraft. First I went berserk about the crash. Later I thought, it was just over the top, and so it crashed, to reduce my big head to normal size again.
  17. Siggi, perhaps we have a poll, asking - whether it should be in 1916 or 1917 - north, middle or southern sector; or a lot of moving - what Squadron/Jasta would be favoured - what aircraft everyone definitely wants to fly top most Just an idea.
  18. Question to our German Friends

Rickitycrate, it seems your parrot knows to make intelligent use of his vocabulary. I have a book about animal intelligence. There is a grey parrot, who can do mathematics. He cannot only add or substract, he can also multiply and divide. And they made sure, the results where not hinted in any way by his trainer. After the long interview for the article, the parrot said, he was tired now, and that he had not seen "his tree" the whole day. The journalists wondered, and the trainer explained, that the parrot, before he goes to sleep, loves to sit in a window, from where it could look at a beautiful tree. I do not accidently use "he" or "his" instead of "it" or "it's"...
  19. Balders, it hasn't started yet. Or has it? Siggi??
  20. Can you join with a pilot for this, Creaghorn?
  21. May I make some suggestions for the German side here? A) For start in 1916: Jasta 2, 5 or 6 get the most types. B) For start in 1917: 1. Jasta 5 with Albatros D V, D Va, Fokker Dr. 1 and all D VII variants to come (will move along the middle from Boistrancourt to Cappy) 2. Jasta 6 with Albatros D V, D Va, Fokker Dr. 1 and all D VII variants to come (will move from north to mid sector)
  22. As far as I know, you can switch it off in "Workshop".
  23. Which Joystick?

Pappy, if you want a very exact stick with a fine steering, get the THRUSTMASTER HOTAS Cougar stick, and pedals. If you want a cheap solution, the THRUSTMASTER T. Flight Stick X is useful cause it has all the buttons you want, plus yoke for rudder.
  24. Okay. I'd be with you there. If you want to do the whole war though, it would take really 4 years. I would suggest, not to start with the Eindecker as a German. The first real fighter craft would be the Halberstadt. The Albatros D I even better. So I'd suggest the German Jasta to be Jasta 1, 2, 5 or 6.
  25. Haha, Widowmaker, you're such a friendly soul. Of course the lion only does, what she must, and I can't see her any negative for that at all. But the Zebra came out luckier of this than the lion would have, if she had won. Zebra gained it's whole life - lion would have gained enough to eat for a couple of days (if it wouldn't get deminished by "thieves" even faster). The biologist Ingersoll said: "In nature, there are neither rewards, nor punishments - there are consequences."
