  1. OH NOOOO!!!! Must we start in October already, to talk about Chirstmas?!?!? My hate fest of the year, when everyone's wallowing in the morast of simulated good-will-feelings, almost killing each other on the run for the last presents, stuff themselves 'till they burst and burn their livingrooms accidently with the Christmas tree candles. Did I say, I hate Christmas?
  2. Baldric: I've not had the pleasure of meeting up with one of those yet... Baldric, believe me: it's anything but pleasure! Forget all the other two seats you've shot down. The Bristol Fighters do what their name says: they fight you! The come down on you, circle round you, perform hammerheads and other artistic manoeuvers, and the pilots do all, to get their tail gunners in good firing position! Almost every time, they have damaged my craft badly right at the start. Only this time, I managed to turn the blade. But I would never decide to attack Brisfits easily. When they don't jump our flight, I prefer to let them pass. One day you will have an encounter with them - and you will remember my words! So, yes - keep that tactic in mind. And aim and shoot well!
  3. Disappearing medals

Well, I have that, too. My medals sometimes all disappear, but Stiffy, try to check next time again - mine where gone on a captured pilot, but now they are back. Don't know why. I'm running a Core Duo E6650 (don't know if I got the number right).
  4. This is incredible! I wasn't here for only 2 days, and the amount of new posts is incredible! How can I possibly follow nad catch up to all this?
  5. Okay, since I have almost only done Albatros variations, I added this as the first line: Skin created from original OFF skins made by OvS/James Romano and Paarma/Arto Karttunen. Hope that will do? Sorry, OvS and Paarma - I wasn't thinking.
  6. Hahaha!! Another new addition to the sim - never had that to happen! Congrats, Zoomzoom!

Update 10/20/09 15:33 Berlin time (GMT +2) tracers168, Louisiana, added. Bullethead, you're not alone anymore! the maps are in post 1 of this thread
  8. You are absolutely right there, OvS. I did mention here and there, that I used parts from various skins, mostly made by you and Paarma. But I will now check all my uploaded skins, and see if I can add that there still. Without all your great work, I would be nowhere. For my article in German Wikipedia, I would really like to know, how many skins you all have made for BHaH. That would be a big point the other sims don't have.
  9. Today I started a new pilot with Jasta 2, the Jasta I should fly through the whole war once, cause they get all Albatros versions and they are at good hot spots. I started late May 1917 in Premont, a lovely field in lovely wheather. All three sorties gave me action more than enough, but not as dense as 1918. For example, you spott those 4 British Nupe 17 crossing underneath and just want to go for them, when you see Flak in another angle. More Nupes? No, British SPAD VII this time. Also, higher up, lots of Strutters. A British air raid? You go for the Nupes, but after short time, the SPADs join in. I had expected that and made short process with the Nupes. Now turning with the rugged, fast twin gun beast, but you can turn a bit tighter, winding your craft into the SPADs circle, and full hits! Being carried into enemy terrain, the Flak is now really dangerous. We kill the SPADs and only lose one Fighter. On return to the base, I spot a high lonesome flyer - a single Pup intruding our terrain. Climbing to it, I see two Albatros DV coming from the left. Oh no! Now they will take my prey! But no - Flak puffs, and R.E.8s appear high; the DV go for them. Just when I tought, I could have "my" Pup now, it gets a full hit by Flak and spirals down burning, two wings following. I couldn't say why, but everything seemed a bit different and new today. What an afternoon!

  11. OT--Occupational Hazard

Imagine, what kind of daredevil that bloke must have been, who "invented" shaving?!? Wonderful knife, by the way, and very good stone material!
  12. When you come from hat switch views, TrackIR won't make you queasy, but a bit dizzy could be. You must imagine, that you sit in a flying crate and can look everywhere. That brings the problem with it, to handle the crate right, even when you check your six. It takes a while to really get used to it. But then it is unbeaten! This afternoon, I fought against Pups, and they performed some amazing turning and tricks, but I managed to keep my eyes on the craft I hunted, even when he went through underneath my plane from1 o'clock to 7 o'clock - I just looked down over the cockpit sides. Once you learnt to handle the crate still right, you will have a much better situational awareness and overview. And don't even think about how TrackIR view works - just use it, and you'll see, it works fine. It has a "re-center" key or button, and if you like, a "precision" button. So you can always look at the center of the screen and press "recenter", and it will your straight forward view. In a nervous crate, you might use "precision" - it's like stiffening up neck and your back, less shaking and tossing; good for aiming. Should be released after shooting or for checking the six. TrackIR5 seems to work more smooth in a positive way. But they are both good.
  13. As MvR would have said: "It was a good morning's work!" For us. RNAS-2 lost 4 Sopwith Strutter to my flight, and RFC-19 another 5 - 6 SPAD VII. I killed two Strutters, and then three of the SPADs, before my ammo was out. And only one pilot is missing. Seems I have done everything right this time. I froze the "moment of fate" of a British SPAD pilot - last seconds of a young life...
  14. Hahaha!!! I tried that mission too, and will try again. You must follow the road behind the tents, which I did, but I must have followed the wrong junction. I think I got the description, when I rolled next to the truck at Douai. But your pics are an even darker night than mine was - wonder you could see anything!
  15. This is what I found at RODEN's website: http://www.rodenplant.com/Gallery/607/607.htm But it's not for Mannock's craft.
  16. Not sure yet - she's like a butterly: all over the place, and hard to catch.
  17. Sorry to hear that, Gromit, but I told you. It's the proof for a really great AI, isn't it? Perhaps you take the Albatros D.I now? Best craft for to shredder Nupes!
  18. Well, that wasn´t fair!

Hey, good idea, Rooster - must try that!
  19. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Update 10/19/09 00:09 Berlin time (GMT +2) Stiffy, England, added. Stiffy, I had computer problems, and my OFF Pilots Europe List is lost; but now you're fit in. the maps are in post 1 of this thread
  20. Well, that wasn´t fair!

Will try to - but I'm a hotspur, still. Last flight, my rudder was so shot up, it was stuck. My right wingtip was damaged from a collision with a Nupe (which fell apart, of course!). And still I took on three SPAD VII over our field, and managed to shoot one down, before I had to give up and land the poor crate. Udet would have been much more rational than I will ever be, I'm afraid.
  21. Haha! A 'lone wolf mission' so to say!
  22. Well, that wasn´t fair!

Right now, I find I have the best pilot, best aircraft and team since a long time. I'm in Jasta 15, Le Clos Ferme, late 1917, flying an Albatros DIII OAW. Don't know why that is, but this crate seems so damn good, as if I got a special model for aces. My wingmen follow so well, and when I call them for help, they come immediately and do great. I feel so secure with them, it's great joy to fly, even in this bad autumn wheather (see: Combat Reports). And I have made a new skin for him, inspired by the Dietz painting, that NS13Jarhead is using for his posts. The immersion is perfect now!
  23. That's not fair! We hardly have any such books here at all! Raaaahhhh!!
  24. Ryan, I rarely ever bother about getting jumped at from above - that way, they save me time I would have used to climb up to them. Let them come down - when they can't await their bell to toll. Lol!
  25. Widow: Please remind me again how many victories this 'Flying Razor' scored? Zatt doez no longer matter! I vill change history in ziss crate! Togezzer vizz Jaa! Mmmuahahahahahahaaaa!!!! Jaa, you could try with throttle cut off, but I'm not sure if that's better. She is a tricky crate to land, as if she wanted to jump back into the skies. I cut throttle as soon as I'm rolling. And once the propellor stops pulling her, you can pull the stick back, for the tail skid to dig in and slow her down.
