Uffz Hans Goldbach's First Mission
Olham replied to Gromit's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Wonderful report of your first flight, Gromit! Now take real care of the boy, never feel secure, not even with Boelke at your side! Check around and make sure, what YOU do, is right. One tip for such lone wolf missions: You could changhe the flight path slightly. Instead of flying along the line on the British side, you could follow it on your side. That is much safer for you, and you would be fighting over own terrain. As a 'lone wolf', you can make such decisions yourself. Rumpf- und Flügelbruch, Pilot! -
You would love it - Great Britain is REALLY great! They make great lagers, ales and stouts, they have a hand for restoring old cars and flying machines (not only Shuttleworth - there are the Imperial War Museum and the Air Force Museum), they perform the best pop music and the craziest comedy in the whole wide world, and they simply dare to be original! Oh, and they preserve their wonderful landscapes. And although "their home is their castle", you can walk over farmer's and Lord's land on countrywide public trails without hindrance. Did I mention the many castles? The chalk cliffs at the south coast? The old villages in the Cottswolds? The green hills of Wales? The romantic ports of Cornwall? And and and... If you ever travel to Europe, take a lot of time for Britain. You won't regret it! Tch - did I say that? Bleech!! Crumpetz!!

O/T: What other hobbies do you like?
Olham replied to OvS's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Wow, when I read all this, I could only say, I'm terribly lazy! I used to have more hobbies, but right now, I'm mostly - flying OFF in my spare time - skinning for OFF - jogging or fitness center (not as often as I should) - playing or creating soundscapes on my various synthesizers - reading - listening to and compiling good music, plus making new cover designs for the compilations I used to play drums with some people, but I sold the kit, when we lost the rehearsal room. Also "wrote" some "electric new wave" pieces and songs, long ago. This is something, I will take up again - composing and recording. -
Rickitycrate, you should contact Stitting Duck or Vasco or Red Dog - they do OFF Multiplayer co-op flights as Jasta 4. I am also invited, but won't get my system ready until next weekend I'm afraid.

Wow, Jarhead, those Luger are really beautiful! If you have some spare money...

Hi, Jaa The only dangers for you in the Dr.1 are high spirits and carelessness. I have downed 5 S.E.5a in that craft, but died short after, cause I felt so invincible, that I had not even bothered about higher flying enemies.

Haha, your "morning cuppa" is an institution, it seems - you really know to savour it. Congrats to that medal! -

Don't know about you guys, but I realised (after so many pilots started and lost), that I don't feel the same with each new one. The time in war, and the environement are important, and also his first flights. Then, after short time, it shows, how "deeply in can enter" the role of this pilot. With some, it all feels very real. Others I sometimes even deleted, when the right immersion wouldn't come up. But still after many carreers, I feel sad for the very good guys. Iti, ever thought about having your personal pilot pics? It's easy. Go to (game folder) > campaign > campaign data > pilot photos There, you choose the basic picture. You need some pics showing your head/face in the right angle. Now you cut it out in a photo paint program, and paste it into the other, adjust size and brightness/contrast, and then save the new pic in that Pilot Photos folder, with the number, that is shown for the pic in your log. (Save the previous picture under "pilotXY.bmp"). It is so great to see yourself in the log instead of some stranger!

Another comrade gone! But he did very well for a start, Iti! You even got the "Hohenzollern", and flying hours and victories are very good! Don't regret it too long, and fly even more careful next time.

Everything's new after only 2 days
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thank you all! Yes, an ADSL Speed Modem it is, Dej. T'was only 2 days and feels like ages. Since I'm helping my "neighbouress", a cute, but also quite exertive actress to paint parts of her flat, I'm feeling a bit coming back from a longer leave. Well, let's read some posts now. -
Only recently, I had understood, why I had been always totally outnumbered, and so most often had lost my wingmen, and even my life. Then, when I learnt to fly together with A-Flight, it began to be REALLY great, and I got much further with lifspan and victories. Now it appeared to be right to me, and so good! But then came the g-patch, and it was gone. Halfway through the early part of each flight, A-Flight gets lost somewhere. I know, you want to get on with Phase 4, but here is a rather important part, that did work before, now "broken" through a follow-up patch, and I want to ask you devs, if you will have a look at that problem again?
-
In that situation, it couldn't get any worse. Worth a try, but don't expect too much.
-
Nice you told this - yes, you can get surprised by this sim! My very best moment of surprise was, when we patroled over the line. The sun stood at the sky like a huge white glow, and gave me an uncomfortable feeling. So I was somehow on my toes, but still felt a freezing shock, when suddenly tracers crossed my path, as if the sun was firing at me! I pushed the stick hard. When I saw the SPAD VII, it was so large already - how could he get so close unnoticed?! It roared over my flight and went into a steep dive and away. Impossible to follow in an Albatros. Gone. A sand SPAD VII - Guynemer, the lone wolf? I was totally thrilled for the rest of that flight. What a moment!

No, never had such things to happen. I'm running an ATI RADEON X1900.
-
In real life, the Germans had parachutes since mid 1918, I think, but I don't believe, everyone got one. But you could try it with a new pilot, just to test, if you will come down alive, Iti. And if so, please report.
-
Rickity, to get pictures in the right order, you can add them to the post after upload - there is a little line behind each uploaded pic, saying "delete / add to post" or similar. When you add them, you get link lines in your post. If you now put these lines in the right order, you're done.

Those "photographs" in the days of old where more paintings and illustrations. Did never before hear of that gun tunnel in the Gotha. I had the idea for such a defensive gun myself and was wondering why nobody did that. Now I see it was done. Does anyone know more?

Welcome again, Gromit (you're on the OFF Pilots Maps now). Good to see another pilot flying for "der Kaiser and ze fazzerland"! For the very first pilot, I would also recommend 1916, as Creaghorn said, and also Jasta 2. They get the Albatros D.I in September 1916; the first really good fighter with two guns, easy to fly, rugged, and other than the later Albs, it has stabile wings for a good dive. Air activity will only just be getting more, and it's still light - medium. Often you will be hunting two-seaters. Jasta 6 will get the Albatros D.I end of September, they are a bit further down south. The area Lens - Douai - Arras - Cambrai - St. Quentin should be the most active, while it's quieter in Alsace. No use to try chronological, and fly the whole war - no way to survive that long, believe me. You should try the Halberstadt later, and the Fokker E III even later than that. So, fall 1916 would get you prepared for more action early 1917.
-
Creaghorn, do you ever use "warp" and "air start" ?

Aircraft Stress Workshop Option question
Olham replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Maybe you would have to put flight model to "easy"? Don't know. I tried the same as you, cause my Albatros D III and D V versions have the same weak spot. But nothing seemed to work. Didn't try flight model on easy, so maybe that would do. But what I would rather recommend, is to learn to fly the crate as she can, and avoid what she can't do. I fight and destroy Tripes and Nupes, although the AI craft can always dive far better than me. I just have to do the right things, and now I can still get them. You will honour the Nupe 17 much better, when you accept her mistakes, too. -

Check Six, please read my first post. Lou, you are doing a great immersive amount of extra work, and I assume, you are much more careful with your pilots then, than I usually am. Great. And what people sometimes call you, is what they helplessly call everyone, who is doing a much more precise job than they ever would. So don't worry.
