WOFF Preview video - Olham, is that you buddy?
Olham replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Haha, I guess that was German ace Bruno Loerzer from Jasta 26 - the "Zebra Staffel". I never fly in pyjamas, since I read Lou's signature. -
Multiplayer is already possible with OFF. We even had a Multiplayer branch of OFF in this very forum. http://combatace.com/forum/207-off-multiplayer/ Maybe someone who tried it can share their experiences. I only just know that RedDog and many others had online meetings flying OFF. I think Winder said recently, that they may have a look at some new online stuff later, but right now they had concentrated on finishing WOFF.

Last thing I heard was how he wanted to do his oldtimer, and to spend some more time with the family. For me, OvS is involved in WOFF so much, that he started the whole thing with just some few friends. And I am pretty sure that he has done and revamped many skins (Fokker D.VII?). I think I even remember, that he liked listening to YES' "Tales of Topographic Oceans" during the job? Or did I dream that part?
-
Lou, I not only remember it - it's still on my weekly playlist. Jim, I know what you mean, and you are right: the official forum is at SimHQ, and there's the only WOFF forum. Of course I check it for new info on WOFF. But that's more like the CO's office with the blackboard outside the door. My mess room is still here. And it'sa no "either/or" thing - why not have both places?

20 mm Becker Automatic cannon on an Alb. D.II?

"I vill stick vizz der twin LMG 08/15 'Spandau', mein Herr!" But thanks for the info, Hauksbee - I had never heard of it. -
The Barmy OFFers Club: Have you what it takes to be one of the daft, the touched, the Barmy?
Olham replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Me too, sorry, Sirs! After my usual evening quota of brandy I can still follow the rules - but often by devious means... -
Amen to that. I hate to have too many place to check - I feel like a sheep dog then, who lost his herd.

Full HD TV instead of a Monitor - What a great vision!
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I sent it back. Will use the "old" TV for flying, if I want it "Cinemascope", and maybe get me 27" monitor for the rest. Has anyone got an ACER or any other with a pane in front of the LED layer? Some say, it is reflecting; others say, it makes the image look much sharper. What is true? -

The Club was founded as the "Barmy OFFers Club", and that is the name we should keep. "Over Flanders Fields" got "Wings", and I guess it will be much improved. But I'd like to think, that we remain the same old barmy lot we used to be. And I'll drink on that - cheers! Contact! (tink.. tink... tink...!) Clear! -

Yes. With the 37" I had put the TrackIR on top of the screen. -

Guys, I have added a note in the first post. Received my ordered new TOSHIBA today, but it is crapp compared to my "old" one, which I did the test flying with. So, before you buy anything: check the quality! There are huge differences! -
I found these two short videos quite interesting, because they show something that you normally don't see, even when you look at the aircraft from closer on: a comparison of the cockpits of the two most famous WW2 fighter aircraft. First I thought "Boy, what a rant about the Spit..." but then the Messerschmidt received a worse one - best watch both to the end...

IMHO it is a very good new feature in "Wings Over Flanders Fields", that a pilot will be sent to a unit, rather than select one for himself. (though I guess that will also be possible) This new way we will possibly have to spend some time on two-seaters, even though we want to become a fighter pilot. It will be a much more rewarding feeling, when the transfer order finally comes. And still we will not have the agony of choice - we will simply have to go where the brass want us to go. We may arrive at a unit we would never have thought of, in a landscape we had never explored before. We may not be happy there at first, but when we prove our good qualities - maybe we will be trasnsfered or requested by one of the more prominent squadrons, and finally arrive at a theater where we always wanted to be. The feeling of having achieved something, of being rewarded for it, should be immense!

So you guys don't say "purse" to your money bags? I had looked it up in my online dictionary. Could it be, that you use "wallets" for men rather, and "purses" for women? (They could have mentioned that IMHO...) -

We'll have no women...?!?! Not even after the ceremonial proceedures? -
Well-ll - and you want to compress all this into "QuickMission"???

"Contact (tink ... tink ... tink) Clear!" Thank you for describing the ceremony to us, Dej! Okay, that's done - aerhh... could we now please come to the fluid part of the proceedure? The annual beer-baptising of all members? I like it how we have to find out which sort of beer or ale our heads are getting immersed into, until we raise a hand when we think we know... It's quite hard to taste wether it's a stout or a red ale, a Bockbier or a Pilsener - when the nose is also under water - aerhhh - under beer. I mean, the fear of drowning is usually my worst nightmare, but somehow - yeah, I like this proceedure! -
Maybe the new Kasta and Schlasta Staffeln (ground attack units) will offer you short 2seater sorties. But man, I thought you live retired in aquiet area - take yourself the time for it. It will be rewarding.

Lou, I had to laugh heartily again when I came to the line "The Barmy OFFers Club is nothing like this." Mmuahahahahaaa!!! -

Tony, that won't be the nice Christmas you sure had desired, but then next Christmas will be triple great. I wish you the best of success with it. -

Q"WOFF"ing - I had to check my online dict and found it by devious means - brilliant, Robert! Welcome in the club, Wolf! You'll see we're not as bad as our image (we are actually worse!). But: whilst a lot here is only bloated, pomous, ritzy and faked - or just barmy - our good beers and ales, our brandies and whiskeys are not. So let me show you to the bar. I hope you have your purse with you? Mmuahahahahaaa!!! -
Hauksbee, you can fly a campaign similarly to "QuickFlight", only that the missions take a little longer. After one sortie you can leave it to continue next day. If you want short sorties, fly German scouts, based close to the front.

As for contrast and colour: I just realised that my Toshiba TV has 5 settings; "Standard", "Film", "Dynamic", "PC" and "Games" - I chose "Games". I don't want to talk anyone into this sort of thing though - I'm not getting any percentage from Amazon or a TV producer. And I guess there may be big differences between TV screen qualities. Mine seems to be perfect for this, but it's not being built anymore. Von Baur, a triple setup was it, what first made me think of using a TV. The size, the better vision and overview. -
He is already in there, and yes - he deserves it! Mwahahahahaaa!!! Hauksbee, you don't seem to realise what you are missing. Instead of flying a fun-fair shooter-style minute-sim, you could have the entire war (if you survive it). You could share life, victories and brandy with the boys from your squad. Gee, I have been living in OFF for months I guess. (Yeah, I know what the psychologists would say...)
