No, this was started before; so it was easier to finish. I won't have time for the seaplane before the weekend.

After checking Dan San Abbott's Naval Hex Camo studies at the Aerodrome again, I tried using his colour sketch. It assumed, the colours where shown as dark as the fabric would look from close on view. As the colours appear brighter, the further you walk away from them, and our sim models are usually seen as if from a distance of 20 - 60 feet, I brightened them carefully, until it seemed to look right. Here is what I got. This time, I gave the rudder and wings a canvas appearance, while the laquer colours on the fuselage remained semiglossy. Seeing the craft over the mud, the colours are indeed a good camouflage. What do you think?

Looks quite different to the BHaH skin layouts. You may have had some work to get it right? Thank you, Lou. As I said, I'm renovating with a friend this week, so I may only find enough time on the weekend. Maybe even out mostly, when you post new pics for the contest. But that friend deserves help; he helped me a lot too. Maybe, late today, I can post screens of my Marineflieger-Albatros. I have come to some good colour compromise between Dan San's photo, and his Naval Hex Colour Guide at the Aerodrome. I think, she will look good.

That's a kind of nostalgia, Duke, I would say. It shows, how much RedBaron3D meant for you; it's linked to a lot of "good memory brain cells", and if it ever came to make free space on your hard drive, you wouldn't erase those. Here is a website for you to check - they also seem to be long time friends. And if you should register there, it would be REALLY great, if you could introduce "Between Heaven and Hell" to them there. www.jasta5.org Check the link "RB3D"

I was reading what I could find on the sight about the Nieuport11

Roger, the closer you can get, the more hits will you make, and the more devastating will they be. Most lethal range would be to hit from 50 - 100 feet. My rule is: the less enemy craft around, the closer can I get, cause I have time and space. When in a furball, I fire from longer distances, to damage as many as possible, for the sake of my wingmen. When you are good at shooting, you can still hit a craft even from 450 - 600 feet. If not, 50 - 100 feet should be a good range. -
We may never know the exact colours for these old craft, but here is a picture of a model, that looks "believeable" to me - you can only get it "circa" right. For Bullethead.

That's what I said early on - first of all I gotta like it.

Oh, yes, very kind of you, Lou. Can you send it as PM? I may only really check it wednesday or even later, cause I will help a friend renovating his house, 20 kilometers off Berlin. But I'd like to work on it on the weekend.

It's Time To Play,"What's My Plane" !

The Morane-Saulnier L, also known as the Morane-Saulnier Type L was a French parasol wing one or two-seat aeroplane of the First World War. The Type L became one of the first successful fighter aircraft when it was fitted with a single machine gun that fired through the arc of the propeller which was protected by armoured deflector wedges. Its immediate effectiveness in this role launched an arms race of fighter development and the Type L was swiftly rendered obsolete. The original Type L used wing warping for lateral control, but a later version designated Type LA was fitted with ailerons. Built by Morane-Saulnier, large numbers of the Type L were ordered by the French Aviation Militaire at the outbreak of the war, being designated the MS.3. In total about 600 Type Ls were built and in addition to the French air force, they served with the Royal Flying Corps, Royal Naval Air Service and the Imperial Russian Air Service. The type was also produced under licence in Germany by Pfalz Flugzeugwerke as the unarmed A.I and A.II scouts and then the E.III armed scout. Operational history In December 1914, renowned French aviator Roland Garros, then serving with Escadrille 23, worked with Raymond Saulnier to mount a machine gun on his Type L. Saulnier had experimented with a mechanical interrupter gear but reverted to the simpler solution of using armoured propeller blades. Garros' mechanic further improved the system by fitting deflector wedges to the blades in line with the barrel of the gun. Garros took his Type L fighter into combat in March 1915 and achieved immediate success, shooting down three German aircraft in April, a noteworthy feat at the time. On 18 April 1915, Garros' Type L was forced down behind German lines and was captured before Garros could burn it. This motivated the Germans to develop their own fighter, which materialised at the end of May as the Fokker E.I, fitted with a true synchronizer system. And the man under the wing in the cockpit is George Guynemer, the famous French ace. -

God, you're one of the worst cases of front line tan, BWX! Send me your town and country please - and I'll add you to our OFF Pilots Maps. Thanks! -
You have an ingame map, showing your route and your craft, so you'll see if you are on the right course. But we must also have printable maps - search the stickies.

Hey, Bullet, could I have the lady in the lowest pic, with the cut-off blue jeans hot pants? Great homeland, Creaghorn! When you make JPEGs of your pics, with 220 resolution, and a size of 13 x 9 cm, you might get more pics in. -
Buffo, the OFF Pilots Map has nothing to do with online games. You find it above in the stickies. If you send me your town and country, I'll add you in. Most people here play offline and are in there.
-
Okay, thank you, Stump. I wont find any time for it the next days - have to help a friend renovating his house. So on the weekend then, I'll see what I can do.
-
Bullet, I placed a new tweak of the fabric sample colours in the other Marine-thread.
-
Here's my latest tweaking on the fabric sample colours. A pity I couldn't get the skin further, but got one call after the other; grmbl! Thelower left pic is after auto-correction; the bit top right is then darkened and contrasted. Stump, I sent you my E-mail addy, but didn't receive a mail or PM yet.

Viss ein Luftschiff Zeppelin, I could even come for a visitt to Florida, Uncle Al, ant bomb your favourite pumpkin out off der garden! Mmuahahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!
-
Definitely, Lou! And thanks again for the "5 degree" tip - will go at it again now.
-
Is that the same piece of fabric I worked after, from a photo of Dan San Abbott? I use it since I started this. But I thought, it might be very faded, cause, as far as I remember, it was never varnished? Do you know more? So I adjusted it with "brightness/contrast" in Photoshop, and got it a little more saturated. But it's still guesswork - I zoomed in so close, I could take a colour sample from a single pixel. But which one is the right one? This patch you show here looks pretty good indeed. Only on the Alb in the sim, it appears brighter. Perhaps, if you add darkness and contrast a bit, it will look more "right" on the model?
-
Buffin, I'm sure this Dev-Team is so devoted to their baby OFF, that they will develop all the missing craft, one after the other. It just takes time. Do I have you in the OFF Pilots Map already? If not, please send me your hometown and country, and I'll add you in there. Thanks!
-
That one's easy: don't fly low, except for landing. There: avoid to come in over trees. You may find many more difficulties waiting for you, that are a bit harder to overcome. Welcome in the hard world, TC01 Please send me a PM with your hometown and country, so I can add you to the OFF Pilots Map. Thanks!

UncleAl, Germany isn't on the dark side of the moon - of course do I know "Keely's Heroes" ! And of course I liked it!! Clint Eastwood, Donald Sutherland and Telly Savallas in best form! "Stosstrupp Gold" in Germany (Raiding patrol Gold). My dad, when he was alive, was in the cinema twice with me to see it once again.

I didn't mean "your model" but "great model" - I thought the same as you: must be the same model. There are even more pics in the web.
