  1. Hauksbee - please post some more pics of your Hansa-Brandenburg in a new post: someone round here recently asked for that craft. Oh, and: thanks.
  2. MFJ 1, 2 and 3, and the Seefrosta Staffeln where land based fighter squads, in Aertryke and Mariakerke, near the north sea. We have them in BHaH, and I fly with MFJ 1.

  4. promotions

Don't know how you guys all get so many confirmations. Some pen pusher in HQ must really hate me - I have 7 confirmed from 33 claims so far! Anyone else ever had such a difference?
  5. Hottest Sectors?

Haven't tried 1918 much, only my "SPAD Eater" Hauptmann Wolfram "Wolf" Mahlo flew in July and August 1918 from Vauxcerre, west north-west of Reims. But that was, when the SPAD wasn't yet improved. My favourite action in 1917 is with Jasta 10 and Jasta 28w, both in Wasquehal, in May. Lots of Pups and Tripes from RNAS-1 and 9; they think they are the greatest - until we ditch them into the mud. The Germans must have sent more and more craft to the front, too. And I don't think they ran out of fuel really. And the north sector was heavily fought, as far as I know. Even MvR was up there for some time, but in 1917 (from 18. June - 1. July 1917 in Harlebeke, from 2. July - 22. November in Marckebeeke).
  6. File Name: American SPAD XIII File Submitter: Olham File Submitted: 27 Aug 2009 File Updated: 20 Oct 2009 File Category: Aircraft Skins Skin created from original OFF skins made by the skinners of OBD Software. While RedDog's SPAD is a historical 1919 SPAD XIII design, I only got inspired by that idea, but wanted to get it a bit less bold than the original. Enjoy! Click here to download this file
  7. New aircraft and when?

When he was a boy, you know, he loved it to eat big chunks of cake in front of his younger sisters and brothers, until they stood in a puddle from all that mouth watering.
  8. 6 Bullets left? No problem!

Not sure, what you mean - unarmed two seaters? The FE2b has a gunner, but he can't really shoot rearwards - he is in front of the pilot. The BE2 should have a gunner too. Have you perhaps the Workshop settings on something like "rear gunner less accurate" or however that's called - just check. As long as you remain under their rear fuselage, you won't get shot - until one day, when you suddenly meet your first Bristol fighter - and hell breaks loose!
  9. New aircraft and when?

DukeIronHand, some of the devs ARE from RB3D, as far as I know. So you are in the best possible hands here. As far as I believe to know them by now, they want to include all the interesting crates sooner or later. But until then - what about flying all the ones we have already here? The way they build and model them is much more work than it would have been for RB3D. Today, you want an almost accurate flight model; and lots of details, and great skins. Duce, don't know where you read about a Nupe 23 or 24 - did I miss something? I saw the announcement of a Nieuport 28. Which is great.
  10. Musings on the Spad

Roger, did you fly the sim "Flying Corps Gold"? I only have vague memories, cause I didn't get very far with it, but I think, it would have been great, if I had understood the handbook better.
  11. After making some final touches, I have now put my American SPAD in for download (see "Screenshots"). Other than RedDogs, it is not historical. I only used the inspiration of that other craft's design, but tried to get it less bold, a little "hotter". It may take a little time for the admins to check, but should be available tomorrow. Enjoy!
  12. Great news, thank you, Check Six!
  13. View from an Albatros

The outside view is looking quite realistic to me. The camera-onboard view shows, how much more nimble the model craft is. But if one could adjust towards slo-mo, until it appeared "heavier", it would look great. Thanks for sharing!
  14. Musings on the Spad

Roger, this SPAD model is simply great. You CAN turn in her, when you either bank hard and use ONLY elevator; or you bank some 30 - 40 degrees, and use rudder. Both together doesn't seem to work. In steep fast dives, controls "stiffen up" a bit, but still work. I have attacked DVIIs in her and turned half or three quarter turns with them, before I ran off again. It worked. The only German crate that shot me down, was a Dr.1 so far. With those guys, you should NEVER try even a little turning. I have put my new American SPAD skin into the download section now. Enjoy it.

  16. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Update 08/27/09 21:00 Berlin time Baldric, Canada, added. the maps are in post #1 of this thread
  17. I noticed from some posts, that some of the proceedures in OFF are not familiar to everyone. Some seem to start a campaign with a new Jasta/Squadron at the earliest dates only. Now, during the 4 years of war, new pilots came any time, and so can you. You want the earliest available Albatros DII for example, without flying the Eindecker and the Halberstadt before you get there some day (if you don't die before)? Well, you enlist a new pilot and choose Jasta 2 then. (You can read there, which craft they will get at various times in the war). Now you can advance the time by clicking on that arrow to the right. With the changing dates, the craft that Jasta flies, will change too. So when you read "Albatros DII", you could stop and enlist. That way, you may click through the whole Jasta, to see, which craft arrived when. Feel free to start any date you like. Pilots, who where too young in 1915, may have entered the war in 1917 or 1918. So why shouldn't you? You feel a desire for nice summer wheather? Start a pilot in June - August somewhere. You want to experience different areas? Create two or three pilots for these and fly at the north sea, whenever you feel like that. The choice is immense in BHaH - make good use of it.

  19. Awaiting arrival

Baldric, you can start your campaign in a Jasta any time. In the window, where you choose the Jasta/Squadrons, you can advance time. There is a window showing the date. When you click the arrow to the right, the date will advance. Also, the lines showing the craft they use, will change. So you click, until a Fokker EIII is replaced by the Halberstadt, for example. Then you join the Jasta.
  20. RIP Ron Baker

I see. So it's a long way to go. Better not get used to the relative peace in the air though. One day you WILL meet fighters.
  21. Musings on the Spad

Thanks all for a good English lesson, and for clearing that. Yes, indeed I didn't mean it in the sense it is used - didn't know that, Roger. So, welcome again, and thanks for the info on the films - that line is very good and so true. If you like the SPAD, have a look into our "screenshots" sticky above (one or two pages back). There are some crazy designs on some, done by pilots here (one from me).
  22. wow, seems i missed a lot

Don't know; never tried. Better ask with a new post?
  23. wow, seems i missed a lot

Yes, I was quite a 'beanstalk' in my younger days - but I wonder how Paarma found this picture. I don't even have it myself.
  24. Mass Airplane Suicide?

Scout, the info who shot down who is only given for your fight. On a day with heavy air activity, you might well have many crates destroyed through Flak, ground fire, and enemy fighters. I have "air activity" on "medium", and still get a lot of action. Try it.
  25. wow, seems i missed a lot

Indeed, Creaghorn, it is! Welcome back at the front! I wonder, that you find the flights are smaller now? Mine were not. But you can always go to workshop and set "regional air activity" higher. Mine used to be on "low" and now, since I set it to "medium", I have lots of action going. If you ever think of flying the SPAD: it's flight model is much improved, and it's great fun to fight in her, if you like boom&zoom tactics. But she can even turn better now; and when you have enough or no ammo left - you just fly home and let the Huns behind you. The new Flak assigns you much better now, when there are enemies in your area. After all, this is so much improved now, to me it was like "Phase 4" - and I wouldn't make it any cheaper!
