  1. Awaiting arrival

Just back from a CAP and a great fight - welcome, Baldric! (Did your ancestors work under a certain Blackadder?) I'm sure you will like it here and maybe not fly another WW1 sim any longer. The latest Super-Patch made a totally new sim of BHaH - don't forget to download it under www.overflandersfields.com Sorry now, but we have another mission before supper.
  2. Yeah, I had the same thought, but went on with the idea, as that conflict was only later. Of course - after Pearl Harbour, no American would have used this design.
  3. Just been laughing my bum off. Where love reigns, is no war. Great comedians, both! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yNZ5fzY-cE&NR=1
  4. One day they'll find a way, I'm sure. Have never tried a bombing campaign, but from my whole mentality I'm no bomber, I'm a fighter. How is your Marineflieger doing?
  5. Thanks, Hauksbee. It doesn't really fit perfect back to sides, but I'll adjust that later, and then make it available.
  6. Just to say thanks.

Welcome in one of the greatest communities you could find in the web, Cowman! And in one of the greatest sims ever. Please send me a PM with your hometown and country, so I can add you to the OFF Pilots map; please. Thanks! Olham
  7. Okay, here is my "All American SPAD" - almost ready now. RedDog made the historical skin of a 1919 American SPAD, while I only used the idea. I found the original design so bulky on the wings, that I decided to make the stripes more like sun rays. This was one of my most difficult skins so far.
  8. Next time I want a screenshot, please! Does it have fixed forward gun(s) for the pilot's use, or did the rear gunner kill the Alb?
  9. Just to be absolutely sure: if all photos are identified, your points tally is posted, and you show the next group of photos - ALL can take part again, right?
  10. Oh, the British WW2 pilots would have loved this! Our mission was to attack Vlisseghem airfield, but I had to remain high up, cause there was a German combat air patrol returning in their Albatros DVs. The craft where black with a white band around the fuselage - Jasta 27 - Hermann Goering's Staffel! We had only seen 4 craft first - now, that we attacked them, 6 more came out of the clouds! And Goering among them! I had just shot the left lower wing off Rudolf Klimke's DV, when future "Herr Meier" crossed my sight. Now I knew - it's you, I want to send down! He was pretty well protected through his wingman, and I had to shoot that guy out of the way. Now I was turning with "bigmouth"! We where at about 9.000 feet, and the SPAD didn't turn bad. I pulled throttle back (something the real pilot couldn't have done, I think), and drifted into his turn without stalling. He got the first burst. That must have been a terrible hit, cause now his tail end was hanging lower, as if he tried to climb, but couldn't. I climbed away for a second attack. When I came round to dive at him, he decided to dive away. But he and I knew, he couldn't go too steep. He did a wide spiral, but I came into it almost vertical and shot into his cockpit from very close range. That was it! He seemed to stall backwards into the salty water and disappeared in a huge splash! Oh, couldn't we make an exception and make it a historical kill? The above mentioned British pilots would be very grateful, I'm sure.
  11. horowae, when you shoot aces down, they won't be dead through your actions, but die at their historical date of death only. So you can down them, but they will return. That has been considered deeply by the devs, and I think, their decision is really the best. You can have the great feeling of shooting them down, but you can't change history.
  12. Killer Spad

This was debated before during Phase 2, and I remember, that someone wrote, the fumes of the gun fire where very nasty and unhealthy, and the pilot caught quite some of that. The range of 30 mm projectiles was even in WW2 much more limited than the smaller calibres; they perform an earlier downwards curve due to their weight. I wonder, why they didn't add a third machine gun instead. But maybe the space was too limited.
  13. Yes, Laurie is brilliant, and Dr. House is a must - the only series I always watch. It's a pity, that the Blackadder is never shown here - would be a great English language program. Must search for "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" - never heard of that before.
  14. Okay, I give it an uncertain try. No. 7 looks like a Hannover observer cockpit to me, I think a Hannover CL III. The gun stand with its single column and the arrest handle would fit this craft. What makes me unsure is the round magazine on the gun; I didn't see this on any of the pics of the Hannover I found. The rear gun on a Hannover was a Parabellum, but I'm unsure, if they also had versions with round magazines.
  15. On this weekend, the forum may be offline for some time; please see Rickitycrate's thread "Heads up, my friends".
  16. I wish I could tell them: no need to panic. Wars are out in the western world. Or at least they are only fought between the major companies. No, Germany has only a defensive army, and only some of the soldiers are professional soldiers; the rest is doing their army year as a civilians duty only; after that, they study or learn a job. The dangers in our days are developing in Asia, I would say.
  17. How do you mean? You start a new pilot, when the other is getting killed, and start at that exact day? I felt like experiencing the various landscapes and Jastas and their opponents. Also I have now started some other nations. It gives me more freedom of choice, cause I am not always fresh and awake enough to fly a pilot with lots of hours and kills. Would be too risky. My best pilot (see Siggi's killboard) i didn't fly since long time now. He will only get back in the air, when I have built up two new pilots, who are similarly far at kills. The MFJ 1 guy could be one of them.
  18. He was my French campaign pilot, yes. I also have 5 German ones, one of them is a Marineflieger (Navy pilot) with MFJ 1 They even have Navy ranks, so he is Leutnant zur See. And then there are two British pilot, one flying a Fee, the other a Brisfit. Still so much to do! Must fly an American campaign; and then all the British craft! Yes, they perfomed sort of scissor tactics. The one flying away from me was terribly hit, but therefor the other got me. I had given up full overview, and started turning too much, against my own SPAD rules.
  19. Heads up my friends!

Thanks, Rickity - and mucho luck for you forum boys, that everything will work fine!
  20. Hah!!! I should have known, those boys are great! One of my German pilots is flying MFJ 1! My SPAD pilot met MFJ 1 today, and was hopelessly bigheaded. Now he's dead. My SPAD pilot, Didier de St. Malo, found his end today. He felt invincible in this craft - a mistake you paid for with your life in those days. He turned too much with those Albatros DV, cause he couldn't really get behind them in his Boom & Zoom attacks - and turning, they know better!
  21. Oh me oh my! Now you where quicker than me - I'm also working on a "Starspangled SPAD". Great, RedDog!
  22. Did you survive it, Carrick? It is never a good method to chase away the boredom, that comes up through not getting attacked by enemies, by becoming your own enemy.
  23. Guys, I'm beginning to fear, that Winder and Pol, who may have just arrived in Portugal or Greece for some well deserved holidays, will connect with the web, read all this, kiss their wives and kids goodbye, and shout over their shoulder, they just have a little correction to make on BHaH, and that they'll soon be back with them. Then, when each of them arrived at their rig, they phonecall each other to discuss, how much more they will have to add to BHaH at once, to keep us all happy. I am just beginning to experience craft, which I hadn't flown so far. Nothing wrong with just collecting ideas and thoughts though.
  24. Off Track

Thanks, Hauksbee. What's the left plane's name?
  25. Lou, is it not unfair for the later coming? America gets up 6 to 8 hours after me. So where are Rickitycrates chances to identify the Albatros, when I have already done it? Shouldn't people rather PM the answers to you? Or did I miss something?
