  1. Dead is Dead (sort of)

Someone had done it, I thought. Copied the whole pilot's log and wrote the new Jasta in it and saved it. I think it was so easy. Anyone any knowlwdge here?
  2. planes in Movies

Bruno Stachel in "Blue Max" is flying a Pfalz DIIIa (replica I think).
  3. Dead is Dead (sort of)

Jim, I'll try a similar thing now (maybe with Jasta 12, must check, what craft they got). But I also use same names again. I have three first names which I use in combination with either my dad's or my mum's family names. I don't add numbers, cause I have long lost count, and it would depress me to see how bad I am. (Lol!) Another idea I may try soon, is to follow Udet's way through the whole war, as he has been in various Jasta and flown almost all the German craft.
  4. Will I have to install Minipatch 1.32b before, or can I directly install this one?
  5. Enjoy, Barkhorn, and remember to have some events for the kids and your wife. (If nothing else helps, go and buy shoes with and for her. It's tough, I know, but see what you get for it! Lol!)
  6. It seems to me, some want a kind of easy turkey-shooting like Phase 2 often was, but on 110 % realism, please, cause they don't want to be regarded as beginners. Guys, if you REALLY want to do well in a reality-orientated sim - learn to fly your crates. Learn tricks and manoeuvers. Act, as if it could really cost your life. Some complain, they never die - others, that they are always getting shot down. Tch! I have no pilot among my 8 or 9, that has reached the 17 hour mark. But I don't blame the sim for it - it's me who is so slow to learn; who wants to decide it the next sortie.
  7. My apology

Yeah, even that happened in real war.
  8. My apology

CJ, your avatar, together with some of your short remarks, still is killing me!
  9. Biff Bam Boom Biff

You may be right, Bullet - a case to make an exception.
  10. My apology

HomeBoy, to comfort you: I sometimes go mad, when I have a problem with OFF. They are all rather little problems, but I shout at the wall and get berserk. My own explanation is (before I have to admit I was mad): You only get so upset, when you can't have someone or something you love. So, in a way, getting upset about OFF is a compliment - it shows I love it. Otherwise I wouldn't care. And I hope you devs read this - I think it's what happens to many of us sometimes. Don't take it too sensitive.
  11. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Update 08/13/09 17:00 Berlin time brogers, Australia, added. Kamikaze, California, added. The maps are in post 1 of this thread
  12. Finding it hard to die

brogers, be sure - you WILL die sooner or later. I had crashes as you describe, and survived them too. The sim decides, when they are fatal. Before, we had too many deaths, and people complained. Now some complain, they never die. That isn't so. I fly a lot, and two of my pilots bit the mud recently. It only doesn't happen so often anymore. For me that is definitely NO reason to complain. It's hard enough. PS: Please PM me your hometown and country - I would like to add you to the OFFPilots map. Thank you.
  13. open letter to OBD

Someone said elsewhere in this forum: With OFF, you have the big choice of using this or that patch version. In another sim we won't name here, you would not. So if this version doesn't suit anyone, he might go back to a previous version. I recommend to first explore it deeply. To ask questions. To request help from dev team via: support@overflandersfields.com before you get into ranting in a way you might later even regret.
  14. Starting in the Air

Yes, sometimes they may just have a different task. That's how I regard it now, and decide, if I stay with them, or follow my own path.
  15. Player flight density

Don't know, if I have the same to happen. But unless that gets changed, I would use the experience made and use "normal" or even "low" (if it exists). You could ask the team, what exactly "flight density" does?
  16. Starting in the Air

My Flight 1 sometimes does ground attacks, although we where sent to a patrol. I have decided for me, that I "fly it by ear" so to say. When they do that, I give them high cover. When they fly a different path, I may follow them and forget about my TAC's line. Your decision - stay with them, or do what your plan said.
  17. I haven't clicked any choice yet, cause I wonder if there would be another possible way: Could you give those people a workshop choice, that will always equal out the player's with the enemy's flight? So, when player comes with 8 craft (flight 1 + flight 2), the enemy might come with 7-9 craft. Just an idea, that might please some. I can't imagine, anyone wanted it too easy.
  18. flight density

    1. You can press "X" for warp, when everybody is airborne. Now warping will carry you along all waypoints, until either enemies appear, or you exit warp via Ctrl. + X I recommend to exit warp after leaving the field circling, when you're on the main route to the first real waypoint. Cause then you'll find time to climb up to flight 1, before you meet any opponents. 2. You can always choose "optional flight", that will then be for flight 1 too. 3. Not tried that yet, but should be like Warp - flight 1 should be with you. 4. "Optional flight" gets you another flight path to a same target (like railyard attack). "alternative target" gives you another target choice (before: railyard - now: airfield)
  19. Vott is goink on right here? Vee are trying to fight a world war, meine Herren! So could you pleeze concentrate on your duties?! Stick rocketz on a bicycle? Shall we later read, the new British Bike turns even better zan a Sopwizz Camel? Is ziss a Kindergarten?!? Grumph! Steam!!
  20. open letter to OBD

Winston, I am also rather conservative and don't like changes to happen often. But here, we got several very necessary improvements, plus some more good stuff. In the recent past now, OBD have changed to the better: 1. clouds don't spin you round like a washing machine anymore 2. flight model of the SPAD improved - doesn't stall so easily anymore 3. Archie/Flak is looking much more realistic now 4. choice of sounds is now richer For the 'right' sounds, you should read Winder's sticky about sounds. You can first of all make a basic choice between "Hollywood" and "Realistic" in workshop; then adjust the details to get it as you like it. I've never seen so much choice for just the sounds anywhere else. Perhaps you're stressed by other factors, outside OFF, but please don't bash this great(est) sim - I know, you like it. Come down, take a rest (if possible) and check the sticky and other advice, and then adjust it to your likes, eyh? Winston - do right. PS: I'm not more outnumbered - check "workshop" settings; and: fly with Flight 1 (something I have only just learned - blush!)
  21. Biff Bam Boom Biff

That's true, Duce, they hit you even in the craziest curve, and always my engine (maybe better than as for OvS - he's always getting shot dead). That's really supernatural how they shoot and hit.
  22. Okay! Now I want to know!! Could someone who drove the bike and the Model T please put together the command keys here, and how to steer it etc.?
  23. Biff Bam Boom Biff

Naw - I prefer the clean, fair fight. They really fire my ambition. Everybody can shoot down those poor Fees (at least as long as they are not trained to do the Lufbery Circle according to Bullethead). But these blighters can really fight! I have thought out a new form of attack; now I only need another encounter with them. I will try to engage one from his 12 o'clock high, firing into engine, pilot and gunner. Only problem: the time. When both craft approach each other, there will only be seconds for aiming and firing.
  24. BigJim, you can put AA fire to easy. You must really zigzag on a balloon attack, cause they have ground crew with machine guns, and Flak/Archie - and they desperately defend their balloons. The Eindecker's performance was criticised two or three times now. So I climbed one and played the veteran pilot. And really - when you do the right things, the crate can turn better than I thought. I shot down a Bristol Scout; next attempt a Nieuport Bebe - you have to wring it out of the Eindecker, but it can be really dangerous!
