  1. Hey, Lou, this Eini pilot taught you the art of flying and fighting. What a courageous pilot, to fight three Nieuports! And he even lasted quite long against your flight. I will watch it again, to learn of him - he's really flying his kite very well. When I see the Nupes sight, like a TV window, I wonder why they built it. Was it bullet proof?

Widow, knocking out only your guns was our way of friendly warfare. Be glad we let you go home again. It happened to me too, yesterday. One of your colleagues managed to make just a very small hit on my bird, and my guns where out. His luck - I would have sent him through the barley roasting procedure.
  4. Welcome in the cockpit, Horowae Your English is near perfect; the guys will understand you right, I think. You can post any difficult questions in German, if that works better for you - here are some Germans or German speaking people on board (Creaghorn, Gremlin, Hasse Wind, and me). But you will find out, that you get much more into this great community, when you use the international language. Stay aloft, and clear skies! May you always see your opponents, before they see you. 5. Sounds like someone lost those claims down the back of the cabinet. Sometimes, zee realism of ziss sim is killink mee, Herr Polovski. I hav to shoot down zee double amount off crumpetz to get zee claim level right!
  6. One picture from my railyard attack in a Bristol Fighter - great craft!
  7. Need Pfalz Tips

Here's a picture of my Bavarian Lady. When the skin is completed, I'll make her downloadable.
  8. Need Pfalz Tips

Hey, Bullet! The man to give the most professional answers must be Hasse Wind, cause he survived quite some time in a Pfalz campaign. But as those northern Fins (Finlanders?) may be in bed now, I'll try some. 1.) DON'T call the lady a Bavarian brick - she'll react like all ladies - she'll fly like one. 2.) At 100 feet, everything's dangerous; I never change my turn direction; make them dizzy! 3.) I always found it hard to stall the Pfalz, and as you say - she recovers easily. 4.) Her turn I found really so good, I even fought Camels in her. (Don't know why Hasse Wind didn't do that?) 5.) I go to bed now - you found out more about the Pfalz already, than I could tell yer.
  9. 21 plane furball and fps

Well, I have those zags, but no wonder with an ATI RADEON X1900. You shouldn't have them, I'd say. Make sure there are no programs running in the background; switch of Internet security, run sim on HIGHEST possible resolution. Perhaps worth a try: adjust TrackIR to a less aggressive "yaw".

Beware, Widow, old chap - German Flak is now furious!
  12. OFF vs. RoF differences

Without having read all the previous post, I want to repeat something, another OFF simmer recently said so true: "You don't play OFF - you live it!" That's absolutely right. If you don't get nervous in your dogfights here - then you don't have nerves at all. And about eyecandy: RoF has the more beautiful water. All the rest of the landscape (and we're not in the Navy here) looks much better in OFF. Now, enough talking - must climb my Albatros cockpit again! Perhaps I see you over the lines, Michal. Oh, and if you decide for OFF, please send me a PM with your hometown and country, so I can add you to our "OFF Pilots Planet" maps. Okay?
  13. As David Oldham, I joined RFC-11, Bellevue, in June 1917. Sitting in the cockpit, I found myself well placed between a strong inline engine and a rear gunner. Takeoff and flying where easy, the crate climbs very well. On our second mission, we had to attack a railyard south of Douai. Not knowing the British bomb sizes, I had attached 4 Cooper 25 lb (I think). On our way, 5 Albatros crossed our course some 2000 feet higher, but didn't notice us or had other duties. Near the target, German Flak did their best to impress us, but the sturdy solid Brisfit dives well, and so we went down from 12.000 to 1.000 feet in just one wide turn. My approach to the train went very well, but when I pressed the button for "drop ordonance" nothing happened, and I had to check "contolls" again to change button commands. Have forgotten again - was it "jettison selected weapon"? Anyway, when I tried this, my bombs fell, but near a farmer's house (oops!). Okay then, dive attack with machine gun now. Here I wished, a big strong craft like the Brisfit should have had a 3 cm forward gun (don't know if that size existed already?). I peppered the waggons and train with little effect. Pulling out and up was exiting! Woooohooo!!! What a climb (30° or more!). On my next strafing, I saw that my fellow fighters had known the right buttons - vans were destroyed and soldiers lay dead on the platform. I fired into the train again, but it wouldn't get wrecked. Instead, my engine was hit. I knew that click-clack sound from my Albatros' inline engine - a valve was shot up. Better turn home, I thought, and off we went. My wingmen continued their attack. Still very low, to escape the machine gun fire, I now made a big mistake! I tried to change from the pilot's seat to the gunner position. Don't do that at treetop level. For a split second, the craft nosed down, and when it had "accepted" the new pilot, it was too late - we crashed into trees. But that wasn't my last flight with that crate - a great craft, easy to fly, and I'm looking forward for my first air combat in her. The Bristol Scout was also very easy to fly. Only found it hard to keep up with my comrades, as I was only the last wing. We flew very high (at 15.000 feet), and didn't encounter enemies. So, to check the gun, which is installed at your left side, pointing away from your Scout just to avoid hitting the propellor, I fired at my leader's craft a bit, fortunately without hitting him. Air combat would be much trickier in the Scout than any other craft, I suppose. Landing was a bit bumpy; I should have stopped the engine, I think. But the crate has hoop guards below the wingtips, which where very helpful, cause otherwise I would have broken a tip.
  14. Ah, you mean "Kegeln" - yes, I know that, but I could never remember who won.
  15. Paris must wait - I have duties at the front!
  16. Fish 'n Chips is okay sometimes! Had that in London. But what's "skittles"?
  17. BuB, if I have to patrol the lines, I usually stay on our side more, to avoid too much Archie. And the AA seems to be really dense now!
  18. AWESOME Superpatch!

Could only download the patch this evening, and so I have so far only made one flight. But that was phantastic. Airfield defense at Le Clos Ferme (in May 1917). At our takeoff, I saw lots of things around the tents and hangars; then the fields had heaps of mowed gras, were striped with crop, or ploughed - very nice! When we reached Le Clos Ferme, we saw lots of Flak puffs, even in the distance - dozens of them! The Flak fire, plus the front line artillery, added to an incredible battlesound. The Nupes seemed to last longer now - or did I shoot worse? Our whole fighting stretched out more; less furball. I found it easier to concentrate on an enemy. But that may be just coincidence. Can't wait 'till the next flight tomorrow!

  20. Beer thread!

Ah! There it is - Newcastle Brown Ale! Had that, when I was in Derby, on a trip further up north. Good ale!
  21. Have been grounded now for a month

Hey, Widow! I had thought, you had left and gone over the ocean, to the US of A. Good to have you back here. Just remember to wear a RED scarf, and I won't shoot at you! (As long as you don't, of course).
  22. spinning top in a camel

So, some find her simulated too hard in some aspects, while others found her too easy to fly. In a tail-down spin, use of ailerons should help against the spin. The Camel killed many pilots through her unpredictable torque/steering reactions. So when you die in her - you're not alone.
  23. AAA

That's definitely new. And the bicycle can even fly?! Have just downloaded the super-patch, and will install it tomorrow, after making a backup of C and F drives.
  24. AAA

Can you have an outside view? Please, post pics, Jim - the bewitched rocket-bicycle!
  25. Thanks for the tip, Bullet - I'll send David Oldham to the 48 then! Action!! Oh, and the Fees - you can keep them for the men with no fighter experience. I was born with fangs in my mouth!
