  1. Hey, Eric - only human, eyh? As long as it wasn't a hacker attack, everybody will be okay.
  2. Sorry, JFM, but the book was made together with Victor Schobinger, who came to Jasta 12 right after they had moved to Roucourt castle. And we should assume, that he would have remembered, if he walked LEFT from the castle, or right, when he went to his craft. Also, you can see clearly, that there is only an alleyway in the photograph, with no more wood behind it. That would have been looking different, if the craft would have been where you say. In that case, the whole forrest would have been behind the aircraft - you couldn't see sky through the trees. I have had to make a correction, as there was another photo, showing the forrest went further to the left. So I added that. Also, the aircraft had to be smaller, judged by some cars in the pic. I tried to get it better. Edit: Could it be, that Jasta 12 first had a different field than Jasta 11 - Jasta 12 left, Jasta 11 right?
  3. Since I find myself outnumbered by British flights almost every time, I wrote a post about that; only to see, that this doesn't seem to happen to everyone else. Winder brought up the idea to have a poll about that phenomenon - so here it is. This is only meant to be about FIGHTERS MEETING FIGHTERS - please, two-seater-boys, don't take part here.
  4. Yes, carrick, a single fighter, or a duo, would be a good addition to a future version of BHaH. Please, don't call us "drivers" - we are pilots. So we don't drive drunk - when we're drunk, we fly! When we're not drunk, we sleep, although we sometimes sleep drunk. Not easy, eyh? Do you fly together with flight 1 ? You should do that - since I am doing so, we are not so badly outnumbered.
  5. Love the Tripe

I'm not perpetrating any myth - I don't even know the word 'perpetrating' (my English may be quite good, but that one, I must have been ill - Lol!) No, this was just copied from "The Aerodrome", with no bias my side.
  6. badgerboy - yes, Jasta 12 where the "black tails". Yes, Zoomzoom - in face of history I often feel very small. I mean, even if MvR had survived and grown 90 years old, he would habve died in 1985.
  7. battle damage to aircraft

PS: "simulation warnings" and "advisor messages" must be un-clicked, if you want them. I don't.
  8. battle damage to aircraft

Okay, here are my settings - not necessarily best for all cards; don't know; but an orientation. I am running an ATI RADEON X1900, and everything is fine.
  9. battle damage to aircraft

You should have High res. Z-buffer ON. Best you send screenshots.
  10. battle damage to aircraft

Condor, perhaps you make a screenshot of your "overrides" and "texture info" in workshop, and post it here? But it may well be a more tricky graphic problem, as some people reported that, and nothing seemed to help.
  11. Love the Tripe

Canvas Wings: It seems disproportionate that out of the 12 top scoring pilots of the war, (50+ vitories) 4 were Canadians.... 1 Germany Richthofen, Manfred Freiherr von 80 2 France Fonck, René Paul 75 3 Canada Bishop, William Avery 72 4 Germany Udet, Ernst 62 5 England Mannock, Edward Corringham 61 6 Canada Collishaw, Raymond 60 7 England McCudden, James Thomas Byford 57 8 South Africa Beauchamp-Proctor, Andrew 54 9 Germany Loewenhardt (Löwenhardt), Erich 54 10 Canada MacLaren, Donald Roderick 54 11 France Guynemer, Georges 53 12 Canada Barker, William George 50 13 Germany Jacobs, Josef Carl Peter 48 14 Germany Voss, Werner 48 15 Australia Little, Robert Alexander 47
  12. Thanks, Unc, that was really well explained.
  13. Hmm - the only Gremlin I know is "Gremlin", who is a "good Gremlin" (Lol!) We live in strange times, indeed - birds flue, pig flue, internet viruses, Gremlins... Anyone ever saw the old trickfilm "Gremlins in the Kremlin" by Disney - a wartime short film?
  14. A Little Oddity

Really true, Zoomzoom? I would have expected they'd be like overfrozen. You really sank?
  15. Well, I should think, France IS a capitalist country, but yes - like Great Britain, they seem to know how to preserve it well. Whereas - here in Germany, the communities are so blank now, they are advised to sell even lakes. How can you buy a lake? How can the lake even be owned by anyone? It may lay in the territory of a community, and so it belongs to it - but how can they own it in the meaning of posession, that can be sold??? Our world is going crazier every day - and the old Indians would only shake their heads about us!
  16. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Update 08/05/09 16:22 Berlin time sharand , New South Wales, added. The maps are in post #1 of this thread
  17. warp and enemies

An good help, when flying without TAC, but over own grounds, is the Flak. It will sign there are some enemy craft near you. You'll still find it hard to spot them, sometimes.
  18. Parky: You don't "play" BHaH........you "live" it. Could one say it any better?
  19. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

You should send a link to this post, to OvS or Pol, Gremlin - maybe worth to think about. And I would offer my help with translations.
  20. back up

They had to do some works to make the Forum more secure, I suppose. That was the reason last time. And maybe for security reasons, it can't be annaounced? (Just a guess). Aren't we all addicted to it already (Lol!) ?
  21. battle damage to aircraft

As it still not seems clear, what to click or unclick to get "battle damage" visible - here are two screenshots. One shows the Parameters of visual quality, where you should move the "aircraft" slider to 5. The other shows the "workshop" - there you must NOT click high res. skins. Click the middle one (see orange dart). It may still not be visible for all then (some cards don't seem to do it), but perhaps this may help some of you.
  22. Haha, you are right there, Wels, it's an addiction to meet all the pilots here, isn't it? Thanks all - now I know it wasn't my own mistake.
  23. warp and enemies

I agree with Hasse Wind there. When I used TAC set to 2 miles, I still saw distant aircraft before the TAC showed them. When I had TAC on 4 miles, I saw the distant craft at the same time they appeared on the outer edge of the TAC. So my vision is alright, I'd say, it's about 4 miles on a clear day. And four miles is enough distance to make decisions. So you can fly without TAC, and it is definitely much more immersive, as you now feel the insecurity of such a pilot - he had to check the whole space around him constantly, and might still get surprised! Yesterday, I managed to sneak up on a flight of 6 Tripes. I had seen them far away, and manoeuvered so, that I had the sun behind me. It seems to be simulated here, cause they didn't notice me, until I was only 300 feet away. On the other hand, my neighbour has TAC on 1 mile, saying, that the wingmen in real life would also check around, and might see a distant flight before him, and then warn him. As they don't do it here, he has a limited TAC on. Makes sense to me. Then there is UncleAl, who has "one inch thick glasses" - so for him it is inevitable to have TAC on. But if you want the "real feel", switch TAC off. Create an extra pilot for that "full DiD cmapaign" and see how long he'll last. In my case no longer than 5 missions yet, to be honest. But I'll try to tame my fighting temper and get on with it.
  24. bulletby wav's

Yes, I think I hear maybe one of these sounds sometimes. But there seems to be a "sound anomaly" in BHaH (or at least on some rigs): I never hear the "Meeouw" at sim start, where the dog sits in front of the grammophone. But when I have FRAPS running with the sim, I suddenly hear it.
  25. A Little Oddity

Hey, that's nice to see, that you really land beside your kill, CJ. But honestly, I don't recognise a DH2 - only a bunch of broken stuff. Even in this dark wheather you could hardly mistake an S.E.5 for a DH2 - did you have too much "artificial horizon" (Lol!)?
