Could it be, that the Dr.1 altimeter shows German altitude, whereas the HUD would give it in feet?
-
Tch! - English bastards? They are only doing their side of the job, so don't call them bastards. Crumpets, maybe. Yes, Crumpets sounds okay to me. Wouldn't you say now, that our little Albatros DII is quite a "stabile" little lady? Which other craft would have carried you on for so long, eyh?

How do i get the TAC to recognise that I have overflown a waypoint?
Olham replied to JimAttrill's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
For switching manually: Next waypoint = Shift + W Previous waypoint = Ctrl. + W -
Just saw, that the devs have tought of such experiments and provided us with at least two files called "Mastercopy of ..." (Mastercopy of VIEWUI.XML).
-
We rely on that.
-
Yes, I see - there is definitely a way to change it; I think it's in "view.uisl" But better ask the experts.
-
Winder, I hope you realised Rickity meant that as an ironic sideshot towards another sim?
-
What crates are you flying there, Bullet? Two-seats, I assume? You know, I would REALLY love to be the "guardian angel" on your tours; in an S.E.5a or a Camel. Rickitycrate could join with his 2seat. That should be fun!
-
Can't help you much, Steve. Only this: you can take the TAC and move it where you like. I have moved mine into the left low corner, where it looks like a cockpit instrument, and you have a dark enough background for the blue line, and the dots.
-
Good work so far, CaptSopwith - maybe soon your name must be "HauptmAlbatros"? Wait until you get the Albatros DIII - she will do even nicer in turning (only be careful with dives then). The theater people say, you must wish something negative to prevent it from getting jinxed. So I wish you wing- and tailbreak! Please report, how it is going!

I'm with Barkhorn, post #2. Come on, Winder!

Oh, I'm glad I don't have to carry bombs anywhere. Zose poor sods come flyink all der way from St.Omer vizz der bombs, just to get shreddered by mein twin Spandaus, before zey can even destroy anyssink vizz dem bombs - Mmuahahahahaaa!!!!!
-
Did you fly through the explosion? No good idea (Lol!) The Hard DM is what I am using too. I find it best. When I hit enemy craft hard with two Spandaus, they still break easily enough.
-
Yes, I miss her too. And thank you, sitting duck, for the placement. I will put her into the map.

Fliegenhund, the wood under you wouldn't protect you much from tracer rounds. They went right through. You have the fine chance now to pick a different wheather; like May or June 1917. I have started a pilot in Jasta 10, Wasquehal, now, cause my neighbour had wonderful fights there. Today, he encountered two or three very low flying S.E.5a fighting some Albatros - something I had never seen before. In his second flight, he came across a flight of Pups, also much lower than him. Situations I would like to have. So I joined in there, hoping to get the same.
-
My neighbour flies OFF since I convinced him, and also another old friend, who is into this. But my other friends don't like air combat sims at all. But I'll make me a T-shirt soon with some good OFF commercial on it. I am prepared to get spoken to by pedestrians.

Zoomzoom, see my thread about "Dogfights" - there you have that scene again.

I had a crash over my airfield Epinoy today. It was a scramble, 9 Albatros against 15 S.E.5a Obvious suicide, but I started, and did quite well for a while. But after the second S.E.5 was down on the field, someone flew right into me, all red, crack! Dead. I was pretty upset first. Stupid pilot! To run into me! How sould we win the war like this! etc. After calming down, I saw, the stupid one was me. How could you seriously fly crisscross over an airfield, getting attacked by no less than 15! fast fighters, and assume, everybody should make way for you? In your case, Fliegenhund - next time pull away earlier. Stay clear from everyone. "Situational awareness" is the wizzard's word. S**t like that happened to the best aces.

Creaghorn brought up that devision between the "hunter" and the "shooter". When I understand him right, they are like this: A) The Hunter - he will carefully check everything around for a long time, before he would decide if to attack. Then he would get himself into an advanced position, before he would engage his victim. He would rather just shoot down one opponent per flight - if at all. But that full "state of the art". His kill tally would grow very slowly, but lots of kills are not his passion - it's the hunt itself. B) The Shooter - he will get into situations rather than choosing them. He wouldn't think long about an engagement. After a short decision, he takes on fights, or runs away. But mostly he fights, and it's often a furball he ends in. Or he doesn't end in it, and comes home with several kills. He often looses his wingmen, so he can only claim a smaller part of the actual kills, but as long as he survives, his kill tally is growing quick. This is not meant for boasting; and I would beg you to answer and click here only, when you have NOT chosen Unlimited Ammo and Unlimited Fuel.

Hitler Parody: Over Flanders Fields
Olham replied to Launchbury's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
That's nonsense about the acting - I saw part of it, and it was pretty good, I'd say. Bruno Ganz is a well respected actor in Europe. Maybe not totally acurate historically, but who knows, how it all really was? It's more about the downfall of a leader, his decay, and the desolateness of the awakening, the realising, that all was lost and in vain, and even wrong. You will see such scenes like Magda Goebbels giving her children poison to drink, because all hopes are lost, and they knew, they had taken the side of the devil - now they would be treated like that. If they would get caught. A depressing movie - but very well acted, IMHO. -
Stapme, are you one who gives up easily? Then it might be too hard for you over Flanders fields anyway. But if you should give up, you will never know, what you're missing. And I swear, that is a lot! I'm no computer bum at all, and it took me a little while, to find and adjust all the things you find in the graphics settings in "workshop". You will certainly find a lot of help and advice here - only need to ask. And once it's running fine, you will belong to the luckiest WW1 air combat community you could find! So, what do you say - shall we give it another try, pilot?

Hahaha!!! Now I see your "cockpit" in my mind; and if I remember it right, there was a bottle with "Pilot's Comfort" near the monitor. I think, now might be the time to have a drop of "fluid optimism", to wash away the castor oil. And tomorrow, you'll climb into another crate and try again. (Ever tried the Brisfit?) -

Perhaps you express it more heroic: "I rammed him out of the sky!"
