Hitler Parody: Over Flanders Fields
Olham replied to Launchbury's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
OvS, thanks for cuddling (Lol!) Of course he couldn't represent the Germans - he was a native Austrian. What clouds my mind sometimes about that time, is that the Germans followed him without more resistance. And that's what the used video scene shows: a bunch of sweating high ranking officers - and none of them had the courage to pull that creep over the desk and shout into his face "It's over; we're finished with you maniac!" And to cuddle you back a little: there must be far more Italians making very good meals, than in any mafia families. The world would be so much poorer without them... -
What's your favorite WWI Movie?
Olham replied to Duce Lewis's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
If the sloppy love story was replaced with more flight....... well that would have been epic! Yes, I wished they had made that film as about other Jasta boys, and with more flight! I still hope, that Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings, King Kong), a big WW1 aviation fan, will make a really epic work about that time. Showing all the various mission types and craft, and aces from all sides. -
Yes, Zoomzoom, they'd fit in there! That reminds me of a story Udet told in his book. Together with some friends, he was flying kites. A little girl stood watching, and they asked her, if she'd like to fly, She said 'yes', and the men attached some larger foils to a string strong enough, tied that little girl to that apparatus, and let it rise. She really went up. But then a chubby woman came running totally upset, shouting and screaming! All men ran away like little boys, but the one, who held the string. The woman was crying, shouting at him, and every 5 seconds she slapped him in his face. But he held the string, and got the girl down, slowly but surely.

Great, Paarma! You guys can keep your fans fascinated!

Okay, changed it, Dornil. Hope, now it's right. I placed you right east of Wolgograd.

Voted for "Blue Max", although "The Red Baron" wasn't bad. But I don't know "Dawn Patrol" yet - shame. -
Why not make the French award text in French, the English in English and the German in German? As it was historically? Perhaps with a smaller type subtext saying what it is, in English?

OT: Widowmaker, the German Starfighters crashed, because the Minister of Defense, Franz Josef Strauss, wanted just that craft, but as a bomber. Lockheed told him, that this light craft with hardly any wings at all was concepted as the perfect interceptor - almost a rocket, but not made for carrying big loads. Strauss insisted, and it was modified with the known results. It seems to be a German speciality, that there is always some bighead, who knows much better than the experts, what to do. Hitler made a similarly wrong decision on the phantastic fighter and interceptor Me 262.

Of course we are "sharp", Paarma - we only live 17 hours (or even less). So we would like to get these awards BEFORE we die. They look wonderful - we should get Winder to hand them out BEFORE Phase 4.

Update 7/20/09 19:35 Europe has grown larger now. Hassw Wind no longer furthest away from all others - welcome to our first Russian pilot Dornil! The maps are in post #1 of this thread
-
Update 7/20/09 18:42 Axgrinder and Okyone added. America was getting so crowded now, I had to reduce type size. The maps are in post #1 of this thread

Haha! Funny how all this comes together. Jim - in German it would be "Rappelkiste" or "Klapperkiste".
-
Grumpybear added!
-
Well, 'above' in German would be 'ueber' (correctly 'uber' with two dots above the 'u'). Up Beyond All Repair is a good explanation for our crates and piloting style (Lol!) Why did the early RB 3D skins have "glow pixels" (and what exactly are they)?

To survive in an Albatros, I need to do good deflection and good long range shots. Cause in turnfighting, Nupe, S.E.5 and Camel are better. Now it's in my blood, so to say.
-
Well, as long as I HIT my target, I may well be 800 feet away.
-
My family name - backwards. (Nothing to do with the English "Oldham", Pol)

Here is a link to a German gunnery booklet, "Horrido!", that was given to pilots since 1944. It's all converted to PDF - maybe useful for deflection shooting; at least for all, who understand German. http://images.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http...t%3D72%26um%3D1

Update 7/20/09 Crossbones and BirdDog added - now we even fill the mid-west! The maps are in post 1 of this thread. Edit: ...and: DukeIronHand

Hood - I think I rarely have more than 25% hits. But with this percentage I can down 6 Nupe 17, and still carry a little ammo back home. So I think, that's a good percentage already. Most important for shooting: it must become a feeling. Forget about leaning over to get the gunsight cross right. I know, and feel, where the tracer lines meet in infinity. With that feeling, I shoot deflection shots at craft, that are more than 600 feet away, and I hit them hard. Try to develop that feeling by looking at the tracer lines. The accuracy can be read in the "review" function.

Google map that is. Dej, I don't have all of the devs yet - some seem to prefer to remain secret. I've asked for their towns and state, but...
-
Just remembered one thought I always wanted to ask for: Do the AI craft have limited ammo just as the real player? Anjd if not - could that be done that way?

Claim form shortened by quite a bit
Olham replied to Ryan H's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
In my claim reports, I also can only read the first three or four lines, then it breaks off; no witnesses - just the next report starting. Anyone else has that? -
Immelman turn and manoevers
Olham replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You should be able to perform an Immelmann turn even with the Fokker Eindecker - I tried it, and it worked. Before that manoeuver you have to dive for speed, but I assume you know that and did so. So I ask myself, whether your gear functions right - if you can get full speed with full throttle, or if the problem lies there? -
I find it remarkable, that Udet appeared in civil dress, while Göring came in uniform. No. 4 reminds me of Franz Ray- don't know, if he was in JG 1? He was in Jasta 1 for sure.
