Hitler Parody: Over Flanders Fields
Olham replied to Launchbury's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yeah, Black Adder is unbeaten! Great stuff - I wished, that Atkinson would do more of that quality, instead of the silly Mr. Bean. His humour is like Bullethead's coffee - very dark! I will get me the whole package. -
Update 7/18/09 - 12:00 Okay, Bullet, it's corrected.

Hitler Parody: Over Flanders Fields
Olham replied to Launchbury's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
It isn't lack of humour, but I fail to laugh at Hitler parodies. Never could. As a German, and even living in Berlin, this is all very close still somehow. That this man could have lured my people to do so many terrible things, that we all now have to carry around with us like a dark cloud of guilt and shame... When I see this mad, upset shouting man (very well acted by Bruno Ganz!), and I try to imagine, I would have been an officer, opposing against his orders in the impossible attempt to save the lives of thousands of my soldiers - I feel a terrible pain, a strong fear, a faintness in the face of this evil and Lemming-like death addiction of this creep. And he wasn't a mad fool, as he often gets played in parodies (Chaplin) - he was a very intelligent man. That's what makes me afraid of him. I'm sorry, I didn't want to stop anyone from laughing about such parodies - I'm glad you can. I can't - it just gets stuck in my throat. -
BuB - the 'Manual install' does repair things and is very useful there, but be aware, that, as far as I know, it will erase all pilots - it's like a reset, so to say.

O/T Ya'll give Mrs. Cameljockey a hand!
Olham replied to Cameljockey's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hey, CJ - first thought was "Catch 22" - but then I read on, and you seem to be a lucky man. Twentytwo years, all settings on "full reality" - that is quite something to achieve! Oh, and that meal made my mouth water so much, that I need a new keyboa#@ $&µ... -
Just had a 'wonderful' air combat north of Reims. Our flight of 4 Albatros DIII (early) was engaged by 1. three fighters - 1 SPAD VII and two Nieuport 17 from Esc.80 and when we where all turning, they where joined by 2. six Nieuport 17 from Esc.80 and I'm sure, a third flight turned up, of 3. four more Nupe 17 It was impossible for me to really watch and count kills, as I was turning like mad. But I 'felt', it should be at least five downed by my fire, before I had to land behind a forrest. So I claimed five and was asthonished, not to get an "errenous" (I was the last German flyer). Now I watched the "review" and found: I had actually shot down 7 enemy craft! But also, I read with some surprise, that I made many of my hits at a distance between 450 - 800 feet! (My range was actually between 150 - 880 feet). My average bursts seemed to be 30 rounds. I found all this quite interesting - next time I'll write the rounds and distances down, to caculate my average dist. and amount of rounds fired. Perhaps I'll write these averages into claim reports.

7/18/09 - 01:07 Last update for tonight - but keep them coming. Where are the Africans - Winder; and I saw someone from Johannesburg recently? And there where some South-Americans - come on, join this!
-
Have just added a map of South America and Africa - yet empty of pilots. Please, let's change that quickly! Everybody from one of these Continents, please PM me your hometown and state. Thank you all!

When you choose that option 'manual advance' in workshop, you will find the line "advance time" in your campaign briefing. Each time you click it, you will get one flight further. You must repeat that, until you get to the date you want.

Claim report details and cryptic map numbers
Olham replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Do you 'wordy guys' write all this with a text program first, or do you really write it into the one line? I would get lost, I'm afraid... -
Claim report details and cryptic map numbers
Olham replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
You can do as you like - as long as the type is the same, you can write them all into one line. But for better 'Looks' I would prefer to write two lines; one for each Jasta. When I'm not sure, how many I killed (in dense battle, Labels and TAC off), I write several lines. When then the message says "erronneus", I erase the last line. If it's erroneus again, I erase another, until it get's accepted. -
I know, Rickitycrate - I'm even on the cover! Great honour, Sir!

I think, hospital time still exists? At least have I been in hospital for quite some time once - but that was two patches ago - did they drop that? Not sure?
-
Yes, Mr.Lucky - I had an interesting encounter yesterday. I flew my "Full DiD" pilot (no Labels, Warp, TAC), and when I fly that tough, I am really always looking around like a monkey! We had to patrol the lines, and when I turned round, I had the sun behind my left shoulder. Now I really checked again and again, but when the Nieuport 17 became visible, it was already pretty close. I turned like hell, to get that seemingly lonely hunter, and chased him down as steep as I could dive in an Albatros. But I had just fired a full burst into his light grey crate, when his wingman shot me badly. They where 4 fighters - I hadn't seen them in the sun! I was lucky to make it just behind my lines to land somewhere. Mr.Lucky, if you're not on the map yet - would you give me your town and country for that (PM if you like)?

If I am in the gunner's seat, how does the AI pilot react
Olham replied to jack72's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
From my experience, the AI pilot will not be so good in evasive actions, as you could, but he will try to concentrate on the mission targets. If you would fly the craft, you could bring it much better in good positions for your AI gunner, who will shoot quite well! -
No, badgerboy - I have slider for aircraft on 5 and see damage. (Would you give me your hometown and country for the OFF Pilots map?)

This Sim and music is just fantastic......
Olham replied to Mike_Toth's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Welcome, Mike - I'll put you on the map on the next update. I have nothing to add to your excitement - I see you are the "right stuff" to recognise the quality. (If you find the SPAD too hard to fly, but still want to 'boom and zoom' fight, I would lend you one of my beloved Albatros - most beautiful craft, best view, and TWO Spandaus!) -
Update 17/7/09 Thank you, Jim - there are new names in all three maps. Keep them coming! Enjoy!

What's the point of having a forum otherwise? Fun; screenshots; good combat reports; nice socialising with good people, without having them in the house (Lol!)
-
WINDER - one thing I recently read here, could perhaps be changed, if it was right: Someone wrote, the Albatros had a pressurised fuel supply to the engine, and therefor would not stutter at head down or headover manoeuvers? If that was true, I would appreciate that correction very much, cause I have to fly her in a war here (Lol!)

Claim report details and cryptic map numbers
Olham replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Perhaps you had more witnesses with correct names? Yes, the type style for the blackboard is not too well to read. The "t" and "l" look too similar, if one isn't German speaking. -
Griphos - a scramble mission is assigned that way, that you wouldn't get a flight path in your mission briefing, but just a dot at your field position. When you "go to field", you sit in your crate, while above your field the enemy is either flying by, or circling, or mostly diving steep down on you. Very dangerous - and a lot of fun! If you never had them, you should change your Squad, perhaps. Or write to OFF support, cause something maybe wrong there?
-
When I have the latest mini patch already installed - should I still install it on top?
-
Yes! Much better! Thanks! If you want to add more info about an ace, you find it at "The Aerodrome" under 'aces'. Enjoy!
