  1. What nationality are you?

Hahaha! Good one, Bullet! I suppose, all societies like "soft horror" stories. And as that is generaly combined with the old days, or at least very old places, it is logical, that the older places in the USA are more attractive there. Your mum could try to regard it as a compliment (won't work, right?)
  2. Stary, scrambles are much debated here. Some don't do them at all. Others check first, what type of craft, and only scramble, when they are two-seaters. Me, I always scramble - and get quite often shot down (Lol!) Stary - may I add you to our OFF pilots map Europe?
  3. 1) TrackIR is a must-have - save for it, sell your TV and goldfish, whatever - all else is not the 'real feel'. 2) claims take several days. So if you have three sorties per day, you need to survive a little longer to get confirms. 4) funny things like thatn tend to happen - sometimes to your advantage, some not. 5) real action begins late 1916, but if you like it to rock, serve in 1918 - sometimes so crowded, you need a guide (Lol!) PS: don't know about the mouse.
  4. Steve - this way I protect other German pilots. If you don't dare to attack a craft with my skin, others may not, either. And the Rittmeister - I have so far only had three f(l)ights together with him. In both cases, no enemy craft returned home. So if you see us - best you can do is turn 180° round and give full throttle (Lol!)
  5. Steve - all my craft are individually and destinctively marked. You can see them here in the download section: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...amp;showcat=351 And of course can you download any of the skins you find there - mine and others. Enjoy!
  6. Ace skins

Yes, good idea, Dej. Winston, perhaps you can do those again closer? You can 'un-attach' the pics, and then attach the new ones.
  7. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Steve - see page one, post one - Australia is with us since yesterday 11:30. And of course could I find Sydney - I even found Richmond; slightly NW of Sydney. Google Maps will find you all!
  8. Post a pic of your town

Muesli - are you OFF pilot? In that case I would like to add you to our map-of-pilots project.
  9. I now have 40 hours.....

Enjoy it, Jim! When you change to 1916 (second half) it will get uncomfortable. If you want to fly two seaters there, I recommend the Bristol fighter - really a two seat FIGHTER. That's what I would pick.
  10. A craft we may be flying some day - the Fokker E.V with it's pilot, German ace Theo Osterkamp. Theodor Osterkamp, Oberleutnant zur See 32 victories Medals: Pour le Mérite (Blue Max), Iron Cross 1st class Units: Marine Feld Jasta I, Marine Feld Jasta II Osterkamp was one of the fewer aces, who survived the war - he died 1975. Photograph borrowed from: www.flieger-album.de A website full of great finds - have a look!
  11. Saw three books by "Onkel" Theo in a Book Antiques website, but they where all beyond 35,- Euro, and I need my upgraded rig and monitor first.
  12. Post a pic of your town

The world is a small and precious pearl. Southington? In my maps I just had one in Southington. Duce Lewis!
  13. Post a pic of your town

Hey, Mr.Lucky - if your clock shop is one of the two businesses in town, I hope, the other is a supermarket?
  14. Good ideas, Creaghorn - I will add some friends names in the German folder.
  15. best ace

Carrick, this is a simulation of how it was - not a game. Don't think, you do much wrong. - First: learn to fly one craft really good (you can do that in fights, but don't get upset - you will get shot down). - Second: learn to fly with your wingmen (learn the commands, and use them!) - Third: Train your view - spot enemies early, keep up overall situational awareness. - Fourth: Learn patience! When you live long, more kills will come. If you die fast - not! (You must not take on everyone - an ace will grow slowly).
  16. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Update 7/16/2009 - Now we have Hawaii with us (and if anyone is in Alaska, I will add that , too). I added two friends in Berlin, who don't post here, as their English is too bad. But I could convince them to get OFF - BHaH, and they love it! So I thought, they belong here somehow.
  17. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Update: 7/16/2009 10:23 Will check and do the rest this night.
  18. @OVS

Flyby - is that a Mosquito in your avatar? Great picture.
  19. Flyin' in the rain...

These poor two-seater crew went really high up; here's a German crew's attempt to dress for that cold.
  20. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Okay, now Australia is with us - hey, Pips and Steve Drew! More will follow.
  21. FOV

Okay, then it would be 30:18 or 30:19 (exactly it would be 30 : 18.75; so rather 19).
  22. FOV

Well, HomeBoy showed it neatly calculated above for your size. And yes, your ratio is 16:10 - so however you change one of the FOV numbers, you should put the other into that relationship.
  23. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Gives me a greater sense of community. Yes, that's what it is - a great community. And that's why I made the maps - it is otherwise just too difficult to imagine us as a whole OFF Planet. And so I made the Europe map new, to have fellow pilot Hasse Wind in here, where he belongs. Now, the Aussies and South Africans, and the South-Americans are still to do. So, come up with your towns here.
  24. Flyin' in the rain...

    Here is a WW1 pilot's face protection.
  25. Flyin' in the rain...

Yes, we had pics here recently, showing leather masks with shielded nose, and eye- and mouthholes. The inside was fur. That, plus goggles on should do fine.
