The old fashioned British method has more sympathy, I say. I mean, really - could you imagine to be the judge if that guy had been caught, and you had to bang him into jail? I wouldn't like it.

Vasco, what's your resolution?

Anyone out there, who can tell, that they filmed "Ben Hur" on the sports arena right behind his house, where they have now built a supermarket? BigJim - did they do "No country for old men" in your neighbourhood, perhaps? (Intensive film, by the way). -
Hey, that's a good story! And that is exactly, what usually the state does with us.

Knights of the Sky series
Olham replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Maybe, the sorties were not that long? But true - even if you have 1-hour-sorties, and 2 per day, you would have about 6 days - not twelve. And often they had three sorties, and more than one hour. -
Hey, griphos! My approach to the right settings was this: 1. my highest screen resolution is 1280 x 1024 Pixel. That is an exact relationship of 5:4 2. I found, that the vertical setting of 20 degrees was fine. 3. so the horizontal setting had to be 25 degrees, to get it undistorted With these settings, the view is very good, and the cockpit feels realistic to me.

Just created a new pilot with Jasta 12, Epinoy, 20. Mai 1917; for my first "Full DiD Campaign. (He even got a brandnew skin). It was much harder than I had expected. But our first mission was a "bad start" - we had a scramble. It took me a moment to find the enemy craft, as we almost looked into the sun. There they where: 10 aircraft - but which type? I started and flew right into the sun, always checking around me. Now I had lost them! Although I knew, which direction they had been flying, I couldn't see them any more! I turned in the sun, to fly their direction now. There! One, two specs! Where are the others? My flight is coming up now, I order "attack", and round they go. Now, there comes a Pup after one of my wingmen! I zoom after him and can hit him hard; steep bank right, tight turn, can follow and give him more! He falls down like a feather - crash! Now they are everywhere. My wingmen are all over the field - must be careful, but can't check everywhere. A second Pup is attacking my wingmate now, and again I give him a terrible burst from 200 feet. He is producing dark smoke, turning wide right, descending. I try to get behind him, but he is so slow, that I must reduce throttle a lot. Now I hit him, engine catching fire - that one's finished. But I can't recover from a following stall and crash - fatally... I will try it again and hope to start with another mission. Maybe I'll drop 'scrambles' for the real DiD pilot from now on. But it was exciting, thrilling!

Waldemar, Calais - St.Quentin is not too bad. What about Calais - Verdun? I think the program would just go through the available mission type sorties for that time, and we should really make good use of "optional flight".

Claim report details and cryptic map numbers
Olham replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Fritz Von Schtusselheimer Hahaha!!! These "Hollywood Baron" names you guys come up with - phantastic! BuB, you must get the names right, I think. Carl-August Guhike saw the whole I'm pretty sure, his family name should be "Guhlke" with an "L"; maybe his first name was Karl, not Carl? There is another name, that even I as a German, got wrong for some time - Wittkowski. I read: Willkowski. If you don't get them right, how could the program identify them? I think, apart from that, your reports should do. But you must know, that we Germans have a lot of our claims rejected. Even OvS, one of the devs flying German side, has many rejected. -

Scouserlad - you're already in there. Flegmatica - if you give me the town, I'll put you in. -
Map updated: 7/15/2009 Yes, it feels good to know, where everybody is, more or less. Perhaps we should have Hasse Wind's location a little bit more exact?

Adjusting enemy distance to stop warp
Olham replied to badgerboy's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Would be an idea, that. To get out of warp, BEFORE the enemy craft already spot you, so you can decide, what to do. -
Stealth, there is much more than just new craft. The AI is so much better now, they really dogfight with you - it's a tough job sometimes! Would you tell, where in Europe you live?
-
Yes, some tidying up wouldn't be bad - and maybe also, to move the stickies to an extra place, with the exception of 'screenshots' and 'Reports from the front', as there people do regularly post new 'events', so it is rather part of the forum.

Adjusting enemy distance to stop warp
Olham replied to badgerboy's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
badger - it might be, that 'warp' stops, when enemy craft enter your TAC area. Try it out - set it to the max. of 8 miles (Ctrl.+Shift+T). -
Hm - seems there is "nix zu machen" with you. Once bitten twice shy. I wish I could convince you - you don't know what you are missing, Stealth, especially when you are into WW1 air combat.

Happy Bastille Day to all our French "Amis"
Olham replied to Check Six's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hey, MikiBzh - are you French? We need more French in the OFF Europe map. But if you are from another country, I would take you in there as well - Welcome here! -
Zatt, mein Herr, vould hav been below ze dignity of seiner Majestät! (Lol!!!)

Yes, Lou - I remember your "hangar stunt" still, as if it was last month. Meanwhile, we sure have both become a lot better - and so has OFF.

Right, Old Navy - and if you want to be in the OFF Forum members USA map, PM me your hometown and the state, and I'll put you in there. Bullet - that sort of coffee you describe is probably used for making roads off here - but they call it asphalt. When you in Louisiana drink that and then pee into the bushes - no wonder you have all that swamp land there. The plants literally rott away from that! -
Stealth, these are just those Forum people who sent an address yet. Don't know why you come here to laugh your a** off - you may need it one day. And as for the mail: a friend of mine got his copy after ONE week from the USA to Berlin. I have added a USA map now. If you're not in there yet, send me an MP with your town and state.

May depend on the craft - I always did and do land my Albatros with engine on. Coming in, I level out in the last moment. When I'm good, she doesn't jump at all. But for a Nupe, that might be a different story?

Steve Drew: Well, I see we miss out AGAIN because we're on the other side of the planet. It's lonely out here. Steve, you may not be so aware of that, but Australia is to us Europeans like "one of us" - a neighbour, who lives a bit further away, but we have so much in common with, so much a similar mentality.

Just set up my views in 'workshop' one notch closer; and as I read, that should also increase fraps, I thought, I give it a try and make a movie for fun. (Had not made any since before the last patches). So I chose one wingman for me (Albatros DIII), against 2 S.E.5a (Aces). Wow! I tell you, they where damn good and after us like bloodhounds! Fortunately, my wingman lasted long enough for me to shoot the first S.E.5 to pieces. But right after that, the other S.E.5 had achieved the same. Now I was lucky enough to give the second S.E.5 a good hit. Cause then followed some ten minutes of circling low, tossing and turning about. I couldn't get behind him and had problems enough, not to let him get behind ME. After ten minutes, I went down dangerously low, to evade in between the trees. I came out after short zigzagging, and now he had just turned around as if he had lost me. My chance! I approached him from behind and low and gave him a good burst. From there on, it was like slaughter in slomo - he dropped away and tried to climb again; it was a tearing sight; his engine produced grey smoke now, and I went down to give him the final kill shot (it felt like a Torrero may feel, when he does the final killing with his rapier, knowing, that the bull has already given up fighting). A big compliment to the team - making movies will now be a real challenge again! Thank you!

Ah - Lousy Anna - now I got it! Sometimes my brain seems to be out for a walk. Lol!
