  1. My best pilot

I knew he was the highest ace; I had a model of his "Lightning" (I think there was a picture of a lady on it named 'Marge' ?) - but I did not know about his death that way. Really tragic, survived the Pacific and then that...
  2. What nationality are you?

Was meant to be jokin'. I do sometimes enjoy a "real good" Hamburger - so not from the above. We have some good Burger grills in Berlin. But my favourite meals are different - Italian-French-Europe mix, and Asian, mostly Japanese (I love Sushi !!!)
  3. There must be telepathic connection between us - this looks exactly like I always imagined your 'cockpit'. Spooky, that...
  4. What nationality are you?

    Burger King?
  5. My best pilot

What did happen to Richard Bong? Did he go to England, eat in a Restaurant there, and died after that? (Lol!)
  6. What nationality are you?

Are you all playing jokes with me here? I mean - look at a map - America is REALLY big. And now comes Cameljockey and says, thay made Forrest Gump in his hometown; next comes Rickitycrate, and states, they made part of "Fargo" in his favourite restaurant, Tinnucci's; and, not enough, comes Lou to say, all his family goes regularly to Tinnucci's - and we remember, America is really big, Germany would fit into the size of California at least twice - so I ask you: are you trying to fool me? (Lol!)
  7. DR1 vs SE5A

BigJim - you mix it all up. There is a DIII (Albatros DIII) and a Dr.1 (Fokker Dr.1). For the Fokker Dr.1, the S.E.5 is no problem at all turnwise. In an Albatros DIII, it will be tickier, but I always win my turnfights with them. When you learn to handle the immediate response of the Dr.1 to any stick moves (even shaky hands - Lol!), you will fly the best turn fighter available here.
  8. Se5a >spad 13

Hey, of course it's nicer to fly on my side, BuB! Individual colours, the best fighters with the Dr.1 and the DVII, and - best of it - two guns are our STANDARD! Also, you don't have to fly deep into enemy terrain - you're back for lunch!
  9. What is your joystick button config?

    THRUSTMASTER T.FLIGHT Stick X (34,- Euro) The up-stick buttons: 1 = guns 2 = "Precision" (TrackIR command) 3 = wingmen help 4 = "recenter view" (TrackIR command) The stand buttons: 5 = pause 6 = in flight map 7 = wingmen attack 8 = wingmen split 9 = wingmen return 10 = target marker 11 = zoom view out 12 = zoom view in
  10. Just had a dogfight with those Nupe 17 Lewis from RFC-1 again. Being THAT close behind one, he dives away. Me, I went after him (hearing Pol say in the back of my mind: there, he's doing it again!). Pulling out of his dive, I got him! But - cracks - my right wingtip was suddenly missing. The good was: it broke off AFTER the V-strut, without ripping away the aileron cables. That gave me the chance to land my damaged craft half a mile behind our lines, near an armycamp. Was it by chance, or did you devs change it a little for Olham's (and every Albatros pilot's) sake? If so: a big fat THANK YOU! I know they had breaking wings; but as some pilots still made it home, I think it's fairer this way. Edit/PS: oh, by the way - my tank ran dry in mid air, as you can see!
  11. Tch - the best men... Sorry for you, Duce! What did you fly? With an Albatros DIII, you can turn fight with S.E.5s - that BnZ shows your rear to them too often. Yes, the manager does that sometimes, but only, when the craft becomes unflyable - so you would have crashed with it anyway. Those two seater crews are really following their orders spott on, and if they had to fly into a cloud of Camels. Wish you more luck with the next one - we keep growing that way!
  12. When Jasta 12 moved in to Roucourt castle, this picture was taken and appeared in newspapers. Second from the right: my ancestor, Gunther Ritter von Mahlow! Unbelieveable! To be honest - we are still in May 1917, and still in Epinoy. And I haven't made 9 kills yet either. But I'm looking forward to this castle - you should see the dining room! And they should have a very well sorted wine cellar, I suppose. [it's big fun to mess with photographs from now and then.]
  13. Pilots have certain freedoms, Herr Prop-Wasche. Should have, with a life expectancy of 17 hours...
  14. Silverbolt - are you flying your crate by foot? From the deo-sticks I assume, you really sweat in air combat, eyh? Kirby, that "office chair stand joystick solution" is really clever! I wonder where I could get one... Okay, Kowalski, had a clown for breakfast, eyh? Well then: 1. craft type? 2. max. speed? 3. cost? (You may find it hard, to outturn a Fokker in one of these.)
  15. First Mission

Hey. Broadside Great, you made your first 'real' sortie. A pity it ended like that, and was a bit long, eyh? If you want to please the wife, fly German side - missions are much shorter mostly, cause they did not cross the lines so often; and you can always click "optional flight", until you get a shorter distance. To avoid, your comrades fly away faster, you can probably only become the lead - then they will stick with you, and you can command them. The skins could be checked with "DXTBmp", a prog you must google for - it's free. You can browse through the skins in '(gamefolder) > campaigns > campaign data > skins I think there is no such manual. In the beginning you think "Oh my god, so much to know and find out!" but it will soon get more and more clear. If you want to choose a different time and craft: 1. go to pilot dossiers 2. enlist a new pilot (there you choose nationality, fighter or bomber, Squadron/Jasta) 3. in the new window, on the upper right, your choice of squad is shown. Below that is the date - click towards the right, to change date forwards. Click several times to proceed, until it's right 4. Also, below that it shows, which aircraft your squadron will get throughout the whole war. So, if your desired craft isn't among them, better change Squadron. 5. If you want to delete a pilot, click on "retire" in the pilot dossier. You can have more than 10 pilots though. To find out, where a Squadron will be based through the war, go here: http://patriot.net/~townsend/WW1AirMap2/ Click 'display type' - 'by squadron', then click off the nations you do NOT want (they go pale); then click the squad you'd like to see. You will get a zigzag line with dots. Move cursor over the dots to read place name, and dates (from - to). Unfortunately, it does not show the French.
  16. I tried that last evening, Lou, but maybe the Castor oil was a bit beyound it's date of expiry. All the girls I tried to dance with, turned away with a strange look.
  17. Geeze, Jim - that's what I call a WW1 air combat sim battle station. All there, even a bottle of "Castor Oil" to keep the crate aloft! Very cosy place!
  18. My best pilot

Hasse Wind: Olham, the rear area pen pushers clearly don't like you. Maybe you should take you Albatros for a flight over their office and strafe them? Ahm - I did that actually, by mistake. Thought those where British barracks I saw in the glare of the sun, until I realised: the sun should be BEHIND me so early in the morning. You think, THAT might be a reason, why they are so nasty to me? Well, they definitely have NO sense of humour then.
  19. German View Point

BigJim, do as you like, but I'm afraid you won't see much action before the fall 1916. The earliest German Jasta I start with is Jasta 2, right when they get the Albatros DI (which is a DII really here). Then you have a superiour craft in firepower; not as agile as the Nupes, but one can do with good piloting. But if you carry on with the EIII, please report, when you have fights, okay?
  20. And I always thought, "Aces high" was an older WW1 sim (named after the film)? Is it good as a WW2 sim, with nice campaign?
  21. Tch - you might be right, CJ - keep forgetting to check actual flight distance... Lol!
  22. HomeBoy, could that be a Mustang D on your screen? FenrisWlf, long time no see!
  23. Yes, it was definitely too close; but as you see, I was climbing almost vertical, and was at the point, where most energy was bleeded out. I actually thought, that was it, and waited for the crashing sound.
  24. Beautifully set up in a nice room, Rabu!
  25. Frauleins and Kinder, UncleAl - children working in ammo factories. All your fault! (Well, and Widowmaker's, Lou's, Siggi's, etc. etc. etc.)
