  1. Short before my holidays, I felt the urge to fly in the Alsace area. So I enlisted in Jasta 26, Colmar, February 1917. First flight was with Goering and Fritz Loerzer. Although orders where, to patrol enemy front lines, Goering seemed to make a ground attack mission of it. First I remained above, for high cover, but since there where no enemy craft around, and the wheather and vision very dull, I decided to join in. Got some Renault lorries, but didn't get any credits for them.
  2. Ace skins

Because my thread "Post the Ace Skins" is not meant for posting comments or anything else but skins (it would just get overstretched), I thought we could open a thread for all around skins for everyone. I would appreciate much, if you all would post here now. Thanks all. OvS - is it possible to move posts from my other thread to here? That would be a good solution, I think. Before I leave it as dry as it sounds so far - I'll post my old Albatros DII skin here, which I use in my new Jasta 26, in Colmar, February 1917.
  3. Ace skins

As OvS already said, this was meant to be a thread for posting individual and ace skins ONLY - please. But I just thought about another thread about skins, where everyone could and should post. Today I enlisted in Jasta 26, Colmar, Februar 1917. Didn't know, I had to fly with "Bigmouth Mueller" there. But there's also Fritz "Pastor" ("priest") Loerzer, who is okay. Loerzer's craft looks identical to Goerings, by the way, so I don't show it here. Albatros DII - Hermann Wilhelm Goering - Jasta 26, Colmar, Feb. 1917 - 22 victories - FEA 3, FFA 25, Jasta 5, 7, 26, 27, KEK Metz, Stenay, JG I
  4. Love the new DVIII

As she is a lady, it was polite to ask her, Pol, but the answer can only be YES; YES; YES!!! I assume she is still sleeping right now or at work - otherwise it would be here already.
  5. A visit to my native homeland Ostfriesland (mother and sister still live there) got postponed since before Christmas again and again. But now I have to go, and it's booked. Perhaps it will do my pilots good, to recover their strained nerves a bit in the salty breezes at the north sea. But TWO weeks - man, it will be tough! I'll travel on Saturday, so please send any gloating remarks before that day. Thank you. :cray:
  6. I'm going on leave, 2

Would be an honour, Rooster. Now you must only decide, which Jasta you join, as I have two carreers going pretty good. One in Jasta 28w, Wasquehal, June 1, 1917; and one in Jasta 32b, Bantheville, in October 1917. If you need more info, check my diary in "Reports from the front", please. Of course, it would be an even greater honour, if you joined both. Tomorrow, I will do two or three more sorties - before I will have really peaceful time on the country side.
  7. Ace skins

    Albatros DIII OAW - Karl Emil Schaefer - 30 victories - Jasta 11, 28, Kasta 8, 11 - KIA 05 June 1917 Albatros DIII OAW - Karl Bolle - Victories: 36 - Jasta 2, 28, Kasta 23, KG 4
  8. Met your "colleagues" again today, CJ. They where so busy attacking our trenches, that they didn't see me coming. I got two down, and my wings two more! (see: Reports from the front). If you made it until June 1, 1917, you could have been amongst them? (Time Tunnel - Lol!!!) But I hope not - wouldn't like the idea to shoot you down.
  9. I'm going on leave, 2

So you're there? Send a pic please! You in front of a French WW1 fighter craft (there must be a museum)!
  10. Love the new DVIII

Anyone, who DOESN'T envy this lady?
  11. I'm going on leave, 2

Hasse Wind - in Ostfriesland, you don't need tranquilizers. All is some two steps slower there, and after 21 h you won't hear a car, where I live. Man, will I clean up over Wasquehal, when I'm back! Widow? - I thought you had gone to Paris? If you go, visit the "Orangerie" (I think it was) with these huge Monet paintings - very nice! Hauksbee - my wings are on leave so often; I think I deserved it, too now! Not bad, Jammer! But I wouldn't shoot at Widowmaker anyway (as long as he doesn't shoot at me, of course!). In fact, I like Great Britain so much, I could even settle there (if they would have me). So, I'll ever only shoot at them in sims - promised!

We should leave this victory to the Australian machine gunner; and if only for originality. Also feels better, when the ace of aces was never shot down by another fighter pilot. And when a "time tunnel" is built, we will all meet here again... (Lol!) PS: if the Aussie knew some about deflection shooting, he had the best chances to get the red craft.
  13. I assumed (but may be wrong?), you had found a site with pics of those pilots, and made cutouts? Still, you would have had to colour them (in Photoshop?) Am I right? And what's my price? (Lol!)

That's what I asked myself, when I saw Test Pilot's picture: why did Fokker not build a D VIII with an inline engine. Now you present that pic of a test version like that. Do you know, why he then took the rotary instead, WomenFly2?"

Yes, Villicus - a lot about military craft in a "one-colourtone-environement" like a desert, or the sea, or the sky, is about reflection more than in a botanic landscape. Your and the Desert Rat's pink did not contain any "dirty" colour additions like black or brown or grey. So it could, in extreme sunshine as well as in evening shades, perfectly reflect the tones around it, and be "invisible".
  16. Yes, it is the same sim, and you need CFS3. Best get yourself a DVD version, there something with the install is easier or better. It's cheap at AMAZON. Most questions will be answered in FAQ on the website; or here, in the "sticky threads" above. Best you read all of that, while you wait for the sim. If you are German, and have difficult questions but language problems, you can send me a PM - I'll try to help. (But I'll be on holidays now until 20. June). One last thing: getting "OVER FLANDERS FIELDS - Between Heaven and Hell", you can't do anything wrong. This is the greatest combat simulation I have ever flown - only IL2 could reach up to this.
  17. Black Knight - have you switched "aircraft resolution" (or how it's called in Workshop) on highest detail? Cause then, you won't see damage. They look fine then, but I recommend to try the other way. You will see bad damage.
  18. Had to look through it again. Great, that you managed to make it into a story. And those pilot chaps standing there smoking and talking - wonderful! The last words made me goose skin, really.
  19. Sometimes it's just great fun to come to you all here. Snoopy and Widowmaker, you made the first cup of tea even better - was really laughing. Hey, Speeedy Gonzales! Mack, I hadn't thought, the S.E.5 came so early. My best pilot in Wasquehal sometimes fights them, but I never had seen them earlier than May 1917. About the claims: I've decided to put all available info in there, even altitude and how often I put how many rounds into enemy craft; maybe even longitude and latitude. Cause I also have less than 50% confirmed so far.
  20. Very well made, Dej, and quite spooky, too! How could you know, who we where? however - we will be back. In any colour, speaking every language, we will bring you misery and destruction! The Four Horsemen PS: Will it be continued?
  21. An S.E.5a vs an Albatros DII? When was that?
  22. Thank you very much, Test Pilot! Yes, it seems I'm getting closer and closer to the colours, that suit her best. Personnaly, I find brighter colours better than very dark ones, but here are some dark, too.
  23. Reporting

It "understands" many keywords, I suppose. So, the more of them you use, the better your chances.
  24. Was that just luck, or do members of flight 1 also help, when I press "H" ? We just had a scramble. First, there where 4 R.E.8 approaching our field. When I had just climbed enough to attack them, two Brisfits came zooming from above (God - DiD Standard is tough - I hadn't noticed them before!) As I was hit and my engine damaged immediately, I pressed "H" help. And who came? The great ace Max Ritter von Mueller helped me out! Here are pictures - von Mueller's Albatros has the black and white sign on; I am the craft at the Brisfit, giving it the final punch. Has anyone else experienced getting help from flight 1 ?
  25. Hahaha! Great story, Mack! Yes, his Albatros DIII early was red, with that sign on. But he is a really nice chap, if you're not his opponent. Friendly guy with good humour. But also a very successful ace. (Thanks to "The Aerodrome" website for the picture)
