  1. Do you have a WWI movie idea?

Paarma - do you know, which Jastas Rosenstein all flew in? Sounds very interesting - not many people survived the whole war.
  2. Future Aircraft Models and FMs?

Not only him - there's WomenFly2, and me, and pretty sure all the rest of the community here! And I believe to know this already: some day, there may be sims which look as if you flew in a movie, almost total reality - and then, we will sit there with moist eyes, and miss and remember the somehow so much deeper feel and immersion of the greatest sim ever. And if the computer generation then will allow it, we will reinstall it and fly over Flanders fields again!
  3. OT- F****** Idiots!..hahaha

    He shouldn't have said that.
  4. Thanks, all. Paarma, von Baur; the structure and wood grain is still visible a bit, but not so well, where the sunlight shines on in my pics. But I didn't want it any stronger visible, as the craft would be painted with a primer first, to close the wood, and then with at least two layers of white laquer - so the grain would only be like a shade underneath. At least, that's what I thought. But it isn't finished yet - I will add some oil traces at the lids, and maybe some dirt at the underside.
  5. Someone (was it OvS?) asked me recently to show my TrackIR settings. Okay, here they are as Jpegs. Feel free to show yours, if they are different, and please explain, why you set it that way. Edit: in "yaw" the outer points are lifted up more. That is the last bit of the "check six turn". You could experiment with this to set it after your taste. I had it higher first, but then the move was so hasty, that I didn't recognise anything. So I put it down a bit again. The center is, what happens directly at forward looking - I prefered to keep that quieter, but find out yourself.
  6. Hey, Tripe I used to fly IL2 1946, and I know what you mean. But after short time, you will find some of these crates pretty fast. If I want to do an elegant landing, I approach field nose down and level her as close as some 5 feet above ground. With a pretty high speed, I touch down softly now, and let her run right in front of the workshop hangar (as I usually have something to repair - Lol!). It takes a while to get used to the physical behaviour of these craft, but you will find some of them agile, elegant, fast, and just beautiful after a while - believe me!
  7. Hmmm - strange - I assure you, they where there first. I'll try again to attach them to the above post. If there should be any objections from side of the admins or whoever - please send me a PM.
  8. Hey, Mighty You can attack FE2b very effectively from underneath. First you fly right underneath the last plane, then pull up, and fire, when the front/engine is in your gunsight. If necessary, take throttle back enough ,that you don't run into the Fee. Very important - push nose down, before you get on level behind her, to avoid the rear gunner. Then repeat that manoeuver - you should perform kind of a wave form. But even far better: enlist a new pilot in Jasta 2, September 1916, as soon as they get the Albatros DII - that will be real fun!
  9. Skin Deep

Hi, Dej - did you offer to send those JPEGs to me, or a way to the plug-ins? If it's the latter, I'd also need some advice, how to use it. But yes - both would be great!
  10. OT- F****** Idiots!..hahaha

Hey, Widow; great idea ! - not coffee, really; but if you could get hold on some of those lovely scones, served with clotted cream and raspberry jam, together with Cornish Cream Tea - that would be LOVELY !!!
  11. It's just a movie, folks. Right - and the story was told well, considering it's time. Since Hollywood often doesn't seem to know where to get new stories from (and so re-do good movies from the 50s and 60s), let's all just hope, that they may re-do "The Blue Max", or turn good books like Udet's, or "Sagittarius Rising" into a movie - with replicas, that are copying the REAL type of craft. Does anyone know a flyable replica Albatros DIII or DV / DVa ?
  12. Skin Deep

Madmatt - it doesn't tell the name of the exact skin in the ingame labels, so I can only tell you the type of craft. But if you want to get into it deeper, get a free download of "DXTBmp" (must google for it) and browse through the skins. Perhaps that will help searching. They are in folder "Campaign" > "Campaign data" > "skins" Edit: sorry, the first Albs were "early" types - just corrected it now.
  13. I'm working with three good pilots recently, so that one may last long enough to find entry in Siggi's "DiD-List". But then, I shouldn't have taken part in this scramble we just had. Our 5 Albatros DIII were attacked by 10 S.E.5a from RFC-56 - Rhys Davids was with them, and some other aces! MvR never did scrambles, as they are suicide really. But I played the heroe and did (by then, I didn't know who they where). Now, I made it out alive (as the only German - see: Combat Reports sticky thread), but to make it long enough for Siggi's list, I shouldn't have done it at all. All who have such a long lasting pilot: how do you act in such a situation?
  14. Well, as I said - I tried to get away sideways first, to gain altitude, climb into the sun, and come down on them from there - but an ace and his wing followed. I think, RFC-56 is just an elite unit, you can't fool so easily. Also did they outnumber us 1:2 Scrambles I would take on: Albatros DII - any opponent Albatros DIII - any opponent Albatros DV and DVa - SPAD XIII, all Nupes, S.E.5a, all two-seaters but the "Biff" Fokker Dr.1 - any opponent Fokker DVII - any opponent
  15. OT- F****** Idiots!..hahaha

Think I understand, what you mean, Bullethead - even if it's not after everyone's taste. What a waste you where to the artillery, man!
  16. Skin Deep

Paarma, I identified the skins by using ingame labels. I must check again, if he was flying a different craft that day? Would be kind of you, if you could watch this thread, for possible mistakes we make? Madmatt - good advice about the craft type. Will add that. Thanks for "diving into it even deeper", Winder. Perhaps you find out, how to change that; I wish you luck - would be great!
  17. As far as I understood, it depends on the ways of burocracy - in other words, it's random. But it will not be during the next three or four missions. As you may fly three sorties a day, it feels endlessly long for a week to pass - and confirmations within a week would be fast.
  18. Ace skins

    Thanks, Dej - send more, if you find! Here are some from Jasta 5, Boistrancourt. 1. Albatros DVa Fritz Oppenhorst - 2 victories - Jasta 5, 71 2. Albatros DVa Richard Flashar - 2 victories - KG2, Jasta 5 3. Albatros DVa Fritz Rumey - 45 victories - FA(A) 19, Jasta 2, 5 - KIA September 27th, 1918
  19. Real Victory Confirmations

Yes, absolutely great book and pilot! Thanks for posting, Test Pilot!
  20. von Baur: Ursula Andress seemed to love appearing nude or semi-nude in films. Wellllll - actors often perform, what they can do BEST... Hey, tttiger - Elke may appear humourless, but wasn't she quite cute? Women hardly EVER have humour, I think. And what about Lieselotte Pulver - have you seen Wilder's "One Two Three" ? She was funny AND shweeeeet!
  21. TrackIR

And I thought, this thread was about using TrackIR...
  22. RedDog: the thing i found is best,is to fly low, just enough to miss anything on the ground and straight out from the field for about 1 mile then turn back.By this time most of the enemy will be engaging your mate's That's what I tried, but some Maxwell (?), one of the aces, followed me with his wingman. It's good to know tricks. And it's great, that this sim still makes it so unpredictable!
  23. Verdun

Touching report, thank you for sharing, Creaghorn.
  24. Some shots from Jasta 7, 22. March, 1918. Fighting those Bristols is almost suicide - but I had no choice; they attacked us from high above, so we couldn't run. Read more at "Reports from the front".
  25. Skin Deep

Thanks for clearing, OvS. I'll leave Noth in here, cause what I meant was rather to show the "individual skins"; they mustn't be all "ace skins".
