  1. Jammer, it's: Der Albatros-Wolf schlägt wieder zu! Widow, that wasn't me. I swear, i never fly D VIIs. Perhaps you became a victim of Hermann "Müller" Göring. In that case, you have my full and best blessings for downing that 'Grossmaul'.
  2. screenshot?

Hey, that is an amazing carreer, Zoomzoom! I had never seen that "Red Eagle" order. His captivity is good for him - he will survive this hell. The other possible way is, to retire a pilot early enough. Only problem there is, when to stop. Each time you may say: just one more last flight. So this was the Pfalz-pilot, who wanted an Albatros for better? When did he enter service? 41 kills are very good. Can you still say, on which craft he made how many? I never made so many flying hours - I just can't act reasonable and defensive yet. You may be sad now, but he survived it, that's good. Tell us, where you enlist next.
  3. Now, let's have another with the Germans getting THEIR asses kicked!!! Did zatt ewer happen? Why vazz I not informt??!!! Jammer, vee vant you az our propaganda minister, good man! Great Video, Jammer, very good cutting! I saved it for me, and will send it to Widowmaker, when he gets nasty again. Lol!!
  4. Mmmuahahahahahahaaaaaa!!!!!!
  5. Spooky, spooky! Did Gothas or other bomber, apart from Zeppelins, really appear over London in WW1?
  6. Absolutely ditto! Thank you, Eric!

I would have expected, you'd bring your wip again.
  8. G'day to All (NOOB ALERT)

...if I get out of it anything like IL2 has given me it will be well worth it. Even better, Tripe, even better! I liked IL2 (best in multiplayer co-op), but here, you are much closer to all the action; you are sitting in an OPEN cockpit, you can hear the enemies' engines and gunfire. I have come off any other sim, and don't play any games no more. This sim is my (spare time) life now! Oh, I forgot: Welcome! Or: Willkommen! - in case you fly on my side!
  9. Has everybody been looking in the other direction, CJ ? Lol! I just had one of these lovely scrambles. The Brit are surely world champions in understatement. So much, that it could be overstatement instead. I mean, to show me, that they regard me and my two wings as so dangerous, that they didn't only send several aces in one flight, and not only did they use Tripes - no, they even came ten chaps high! So, lets add together: 1. advantage of height, plus 2. flying Tripes, plus 3. outnumbered 10 to 3, plus 4. at least four aces!!! And NO! Of course I didn't survive it - don't know why I'm still speaking with you... Edit: hey, that picture wasn't there, when I started my reply. That must be you and your little boy on the air show today?! Wow, that must have been fun!
  10. screenshot?

If you have Photoshop, you can press "print", the go directly to PS, say "new document", then "insert".

Tch! - Widow, how can I fight a serious war, when you do things like this? I can't aim properly, can't even hold the Albatros in level flight!! By the way - where does she live?
  12. Winder and the Devs have done an outstanding job making history come alive. I was so inspired by the simm as an historical document Shredward is, I think, the "historical department", who contributed all this. See also his thread "On this day in the Great War".
  13. Well, I like the Squadron/Jasta/Escadrille insignia details, and especially, that the aces' signs were all done so individually. If you ever browse through the skins folder (use for example the freeware "DXTBmp" - must google for it), you realise, how many individual skins these fellows painted. It's incredible!
  14. The "Mad Skinner" looks at the clock - oh my god; half past nine; I haven't eaten a decent meal, nor have I shaved; and the worst - I haven't made even one flight in BHaH today! Now I'm beginning to get a feeling for how Paarma, Makai and the other skinners must have felt in the final "days of duty" for BHaH. Here are some results, which I will get ready for the contest. Three more are still "pending". The Albatros "Feuervogel" (Firebird) was inspired first by Herr Prop Wasche/"Taffy", who wanted a plane painted like a bird. Thinking of some special bird, Cameljockey came to my mind with his "Leutnant Feuervogel". And so this extremely painted Alby came to life. It's for you, CJ and "Taffy". The "Wespe" was finally finished with a shark mouth, I got from Widowmaker (thanks again!). But you wouldn't believe how long it took me, to get the mouth right, as it's on three parts of the plane, and then wouldn't fit together. It took me all afternoon, and I'm not sure it was worth it. But then I could also use the mouth for the Albatros D V Seefrosta 1917 "Haifisch". I read recently, that the Albatros had been called "Haifisch" by some German pilots, due to it's sleak shape. And so I did one for the seaside (not yet finished). Tomorrow, I will try to finish two or three more, but I'm not sure, how far I'll get.
  15. Jasta 9, Sissone, 12. August 1918 Leutnant Leber Dear Kurt! You know, that he saved your life again this morning? I witnessed it; you should be grateful. There is something, I haven't told you yet (I had to make a first report to Hptm. Blume), and it is lying on my heart like a stone. I don't even know, if I understood him right, but it seems to me, that he felt something - that he knew... When we walked to our waiting craft this early morning, the Hauptmann murmured something, that I didn't understand first. But now I know, what he said: "Only half an hour left." And you know as well as I do, that with this morning's sortie, he would have reached the threatening 17-hour-mark. Will you come to my room after your report? I want to drink on him with you. Georg may also come later. I felt so helpless. Hope to see you. Theo (For the sordid details, see "Combat reports from the Front")
  16. Thank you, Hauksbee I just downloaded GMAX and will try a first build after that tutorial. If I can get it right, I would be willing to make a model for BHaH, that is not yet in production. And I rely on you there, to help me. Hey, that might be fun!
  17. Hey, yes, that looks like I thought it might. I assume, that you draw those red lines for a Front, Side and Top view to get a 3D part. Must be more difficult to put them together the right way. And then, later, the propeller, wheels and rotary must turn! I was warned, that 3D modelling can be frustrating - seems to need patience and endurance? Not really my strengths - but I like building something. Why did you use a prog, not compatible to BHaH?
  18. Hauksbee, I dislike the look of the D VII - a craft with an bulky inline engine. The D VIII had a rotary engine, only one high wing, and looks much better. It was an incredible aircraft - I have seen a photo, showing the whole workers crew sitting on the wing. Thanks for all the info. Is GMAX a freeware?
  19. No life insurance will take you anymore then. That guy challenges death, like I do in BHaH. But for him, it could be fatal. The French driver in that old racing film from the sixties said to a female interviewer, when she asks him about the danger and his fears: "I think, as a racing driver, you just lack any phantasy. Otherwise, you could imagine, how terrible accidents could be."
  20. Hi, Hauksbee and Stumpjumper Would you say, that someone who can work with graphic programs like Corel Draw, could also learn modelling with GMAX? Cause I would like to try to build the Fokker D VIII.
  21. New Pilot

Welcome in the greatc world of "Over Flanders Fields", Jani! You will now go through some difficult times. 1. the waiting - you can't do anything but read the posts and "sticky threads" above (lots of good info) 2. the learning - this is better than any sim I know. That means, you will not be an instant pilot, nor an instant ace. You will have to suffer a while, if you want to reach full realism. But it is rewarding! 3. the dying - you will lose many good pilots, even when you have learnt it all. Sometimes you may shout: "Never again will I touch this killer sim!" Fortunately, I don't know anyone, who had that disease for more than two days. And if you need advice: somewhere on earth, there is always some pilot online. Cheers! Olham
  22. Hey, WomenFly2 that's some idea! Can you come up with flight characteristics of that D VIII ? And I will investigate for the modelling program. I'm sure I can learn to build that craft. I think, Hauksbee will help me there. What d'you say?
  23. I'm so sad

Hi, Creaghorn Where did the Austrians fight? I still hope, we receive an OEFAG Albatros from the devels, and would like to fly it then. When my pilot from Jasta 9 dies or retires, I will start the new one in "Siggi/Creaghorn mode" - you two have shown, how it should be done.
  24. Flyboys

Hell's Angels - for the great Zeppelin scenes alone The Blue Max and Aces High for the athmosphere of the airfields and fights then The Red Baron - for the feel of some (other, not the Baron's) Jasta, and (mostly) good aircraft scenes The Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines - for the great humour
  25. Sideslips

If you are a fighter, you'll learn it. Flying first, fighting second. If not, you'll give up. I don't know anyone who managed to give it up for longer than two days. So, welcome to the addicts' mess, Jim. Rudder is essential on these crates. So you either get a good twist stick, or pedals. And one day, after many crashes, you won't understand anymore, why it first was so difficult. That's when the lady allows you to imagine, that YOU fly HER...
