Hi, Luftace Great you are a "real (campaign) pilot" now. But your choice - an Albatros D II - is out of date in August 1917. There must be Camels already, and S.E.5s. The D III would be a much better fighter there (still tough against Camels). So, if you should "die", try the D III then - it will be more successful. Where are you stationed with Jasta 32? Here's a chart, to check, which craft was available when - in WW1, development was very fast. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=40522

Perhaps new for some of you, this site has info about the "Escadrille Lafayette". And you can read it in English, too (click "Start") I cannot tell, how historically accurate such sites are, and hope, that you have a look at that and make a comment, when something's wrong, SHREDWARD. Here is Lufberry's Nieuport. Enjoy! http://pagesperso-orange.fr/rdisa/html/index.html

OT-And Now For Something Completely Different
Olham replied to Parky's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Heartwarming video, Parky! Thanks for sharing. Makes me feel, that we could move closer together - not cramped into less space I mean, but good spirit. Music is the best bridge for that. -
Just flew her twice - she recovers easy from stall spins, when you pull back throttle to one third or even less, and keep nose 45° down. Altitude required, of course. Don't know tough, if the real pilots had a throttle on that craft.

Yeah, if you love good turn fights, a Dr.1 is a very good choice, CJ! -
Found this in the web: http://homepage.eircom.net/~frontacs/DOAch...t/SpadXIII.html

Perhaps your style would be more expressionist, Bullet. Try those effects? -
Investigating, where my new opponents (Camels from RFC-3) come from, I read, that they had the Bristol Scout since January 1915, before changing to the Morane Parasol. Now, from all I've seen of the Scout (in Phase 2 that was), it seemed quite agile to me - has anyone flown it in a campaign? It should do well against the E III?
-
Experiences with the Bristol Scout, anyone?
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Aaaah! That's why I got hit all the time, when I turned with one in my E III! And I thought, I should really switch guns to "tight spread", as I didn't find that normal anymore (Lol!) -
Hey, Hauksbee I have the Thrustmaster T.Flight Stick X (around 40,- Euro), on which the vertical rudder axis works very well - I never missed anymore rudder and can recommend it. I also have SAITEK Pedals, but it seemed to me, that they produce a very different behaviour and had to be learnt again. So I didn't bother too much yet, but want to learn flying with them one of these days. In free flight, I can fly quite well with them, and even zoomed through in between trees. But in a dogfight, I couldn't aim and shoot with them - a very different feeling.

History of War Website with lots of info and pics
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Here's a site with lots of history; unfortunately not much picture material from WW1. But here's a scissor telescope from those days. http://www.historyofwar.org/index.html -
I am the only one in our sim flight club flying OFF Could you try to change that - for the sake of this incredible sim? You'd be one of my heroes then! I prefer BadBud over BadBut biggrin.gif Oooops - I'm sorry; getting more and more dyslexic; or maybe it's the Flanders pilot's disease (the nerves, you know?)

Guynemer and Esc.3 "Les cigognes" ("The Storks")
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Just did a little research (I still know very little about WW1) about Esc3 "Les cigognes" (The Storks) and Guynemer. I wanted to find out, were they were stationed, when, cause I'd like to meet him in BHaH (simple minded as I am sometimes, I didn't think of just checking enlistment in Esc3 in BHaH). Anyway, I found this site about the "Storks", with data and good photographs (three of them below). Just click on the pictures to enlarge. Enjoy! http://albindenis.free.fr/Site_escadrille/escadrille003.htm Edit/PS: at the bottom of the page are buttons for previous page and next page. There are also other Escadrilles! -
Guynemer and Esc.3 "Les cigognes" ("The Storks")

I know, Pol. And I was once invited by a lady (on my motorbike trip back in 1973; somewhere in the Plymouth region) to share a real English roast (I think it was called roast only - or "roastbeef" ?), and that was delicious. But a good banter needs stereotype prejudices, doesn't it? And so, as long as we are the Huns, you will have to be the "bad cooks" (Lol!) -
On a brief visit to your (good looking) site, I didn't see anything about "Over Flanders Fields", BadBut ? Did I look too briefly, or what is the reason? You know, this sim needs a lot more public relations, as it's no major company with a big budget. Movies or good screenshots are waiting amass.

Well, if Oleg will EVER release his Battle of Britain sim (now announced for 1. June), you can fly the Spit. The looks and the cockpit interiour are incredible. And yes - THE fighter that comes to my mind, when I think about the beauty of WW2 fighter craft. Once, back in 1986, an English friend and I stood on some chalk hills near London, when we heard this distinctive, impressive sound. We scanned the sky, and there it was - a Spitfire approaching at very low altitude! The pilot saw us wave and waved back - he must have felt very happy in that craft! Later we realised, there had been an air show near - you lucky Englander have those a lot, it seems.

Automated or Manual time / date
Olham replied to Macklroy's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hi, Hasse Wind My neighbour and "BHaH wingman" always reports of flights with no events. He is in Jasta 15, early or mid-17 I think (when Udet and Gontermann where there), and they are a "defensive" Jasta then. Also helps to switch TAC and labels "off" - you will pass many enemy flights that way, helps collecting hours. -
