Great French map found, with ALL river names, and railroad lines
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well, it is perhaps a too large scale? There are maps with more detailed, closer scales. This one is just perfect for knowing all the river names and railway lines IMHO. But maybe it can give you a rough overview even for flying. -
Here is a map showing the trench systems around Vert Galand (the name is written with a "d" at the end in the historical maps); and a triple supply rail north of the aerodrome. The map was from early 1918.

Thank you, Robert! Shiloh, I guess there would be an outcry of anger, if the community would declare the battle site of Gettysburg for building ground?
-
Pixels??? I guess that won't work - too small, or not? But feel free to use my airfield graphics in OFFbase, if you can use them.

Being a Vulcan partly or completely cannot be that bad. Spock didn't get irritated emotionally, but he was a true friend and always helpful.

Yes, very bad, sinister ones! A deep shame overcomes me each time I hear of such atrocities done bei German troops. I wasn't even born then, but they are/were some of "my" people. Not barbaric Huns from Beyond-Mongolia. Not aliens from outer space - my own people. Thinking about it makes a thick knot in my throat - every time.

Well, you could and maybe should do both. Paris is a special city with some great places to visit and enjoy. I wonder if I will ever get to make my train/bicycle tour to visit some German and Entente airfields in Belgium and France. But when I do, I'll make sure to also visit some villages to find good restaurants and interesting places.

No, I haven't, but just enter "Amiens", and follow the N25 north beyond Villers-Bocage to the crossing N25 - D117/D31. Do you know how I can receive the coordinates from GoogleMaps? Ah, found it out! Here comes: 50.070803,2.321348

Yes, I guess I know what you mean, Robert. Places like that have their own energy; it can raise your neck hair. I had such a moment, when I explored a German MG bunker in the Normandy. Soldiers were literally standing in the shadows behind me. OvS had a very similar experience right there! (I hope you will re-appear here some day, James!)

Just stumbled across one post, that might explain what keeps the devs so long. If this is one of the reasons - wow, then I'll wait patiently... http://combatace.com/topic/37650-aerodromes/?do=findComment&comment=254866

Not knowing too much about the American Civil War, I went through some video sequences at YouTube. Found some reenactment scenes, and then this bit with Robert Duvall as Lee. I find he played it just grand. This short scene creates goose skin on me; it seems to tell so much about a big tragedy yet to happen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsW5GHRR02k

How many reenactors would take part on each side aproximately, Shiloh? Seems like a big event? I wonder how a blue reenactor feels when he's aiming and "firing" at a grey one; and how do the "Rebels" feel about it?

Have some fun and watch the battle reenactment on a New Zealand Airshow. The Fokker Triplane's Lozenge maybe rather wrong; never seen any on that plane. But watch for example the difference between the Camel's left and right turn. The Fokker wins, cause Gene deMarco had parts coming off of his Camel - which wasn't a planned stunt but an accident! Good, that he is such a good "Camel Jockey" - he made it back to the ground with no injuries. Enjoy!

I use an AddBlocker and never have such things happening.

KEKs and Fokker-Staffels - new book by Johan Ryheul coming soon
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well, the title says it all - book is coming soon. -
Dej, you surely are one of those people who'd deserve the first price - but with this guess I can only hope you WON'T win! Sorry, mate!

FLYING THE... "The Vintage Aviator", New Zealand, offer several pilot reports about flying various WW1 aircraft replicas. Enjoy! http://thevintageaviator.co.nz/sitemap

They were all blade runners - at least the scorers.

...and so often do we think, everyone else is well off and easy going. But when the clouds are passing over, then there is shadow, not sunlight. Take care, guys - all of you!

Kepp the cigars, Erik - but where's that brandy you mentioned? ... Ah, clever - in this thick mockup book! "THE GREAT WAR"... Good one!

FA 300 at Ramlah, Palestine - see these "tropical uniforms"
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Just found this photo of Fliegerabteilung 300 "Pascha" at the Buddecke Website . The unit was established in Palestine in early 1916. Now I wonder wether all these "tropical uniforms" were real military designs? Or did they just add tropical helmets? Does anyone know? -

Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Seems they really had designed official German tropical uniforms - I just found this picture at this link: http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?33910-WWI-German-Band-in-Palestine/page2 -
Seems the last 12 months contained quite some bad luck for both of you, for the OBD Team as well as for Erik. I wish you all, that this was all of the bad things to share, and that a luckier, happier time may come for you all. Lou, no need to appologise, me thinks. It IS funny - and I bet the devs already integrated your calendar into their time scheduling. Gives them so much more time, space and freedom! Mmuahahahahahaaaa!!!! PS: the OFF design is back! The link to the downloads works again!

This OFF Forum is an OFF-Pilots-Forum since some time now, and I think you are right: it may give you and us more freedom and less rules. I know the "wolf pack" around here can handle that; they behave quite decent most of the time ("Hey, you eaglet over there, I can see you! Put that beer down and don't touch it again, or I'll come over there!"). Errh - where was I? Well, all interaction, requests and assistence from your end has always been finest, and the whole design and handling of this place is more than just one step beyond many other places I know. In one line: I'm glad you and us can and will carry on together. PS: in our family we use the same saying your granny did. ("Now where's that beer? Where did that feller go, chaps?!")

A nice idea, Erik - and a hard guess! Damn, that's a good date to choose, Crossbones - may be quite likely. On the other hand, the devs may not be working with fixated deadlines? So what should I pick... Well, I don't know, but I'll go for 10 October 2013.
