  1. Additional info to the "Stropp" Albatros. No one seems to know, who really flew it, and how he died; as the plane fell into Allied hands intakt. Also, the name "Stropp" confuses people. But it has two meanings (if it was not the name of the pilot): Wikipedia: Ein Stropp (von ursprünglich Strupf = „Knoten, Schlinge“, verwandt: Strippe) bezeichnet seemännisch ein kurzes Stück Tauwerk mit Augen oder Haken an meist beiden Enden. Can't translate it all, but it is 1. a salilor's bend 2. in the Rhineland area: a little boy
  2. Well, they couldn't either. But I think, it doesn't need too much data. Next time, I'll set up a clock with takeoff time, and look at that. And write only things like "north of Arras" or "west of waypoint 1". Perhaps enough...
  3. Thank you, Rooster, and Paarma You have done so many already, Paarma - are you still hungry? I've seen ,that you (?) had even made the blue-white Alb before, that is now in the download section, by Deadhead. Come to Berlin for a year, and we do them all together (Lol!!!) Cheers; Olham
  4. This could be my solution for my impatience at making kills, resulting in short carreers. I felt different with my pilots, and the same way each time I "used" them. Two of them, I value meanwhile, and wouldn't want to loose them through bloodthirst and crazyness. The thirs is still so new, and flying the Dr.1, that I like to go crazy with him. When I start BHaH now, I choose the right pilot for the momentary mood. If I'm into gunzablazebloodthirstcraze, I use the Dr.1 pilot (he never made it to more than three sorties yet). But if I'm quieter, and into some lasting success, I use the other two. The Dr.1 pilot had the max. kills so far - 8 kills in only 3 sorties. But he's dead again...
  5. Albatros D Va "Stropp" from Jasta 46 Since a gentle pilot around here sent me a documentary from the National Air and Space Museum, about the restauration of the Jasta 46 Albatros D Va "Stropp", I wanted to do this skin. It may not look it, but it was so far the longest working process on a skin for me. As the restored plane has a very light, bright plywood tone, I had to get that done first. Then I had to get a good green painting, without covering up the structures and material from our skinners' original work. Getting the tail stripes right, took most of the time, and I see, they are not yet correct. I scanned the weight writing, and the "Stropp", and had to clean it before tracing. And, and, and... as I said, a lot of work. But I'm quite happy now already! Enjoy! PS: as far as I saw, little seems to be known about it's pilot. Also, there are debates, wehter the fabric on the wings was Lozenge or Green / Mauve camouflage. Perhaps I do both versions.
  6. Don't know what's going on - I can't seem to get it into "Screenshots"! Sorry -wrong again!
  7. Why dont you fly Dshermann side, no? Zee pilots are orderly trained officers, who follow der leader blind (...?...Heard that before ?) werever your orders send zem - and if to hell! Mmmuahahahaaa!!!
  8. If my memory don't fail me, Canada took 14 - 20 days for two people, I read posts from.
  9. Ooops - wrong theater. This was meant to go to "Screenshots" - were it will be in a miunute.
  10. 1. Do one round at your airfield to collect them all. 2. Warp only at 70% throttle or less. 3. Press "R" more often. At every turn/waypoint, they can easily loose touch.
  11. Got the documentary by the National Air and Space Museum, about the restauration of the D Va "Stropp", Jasta 46. The Museum restorers gave it Lozenge fabric wings. Now I found opposing info at "The Aerodrome", saying, the camo should have been Mauve and Green. Here's the link: http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/aircraft...p-albatros.html Have you got any further info? I would like to do this skin for the contest. Thanks; Olham
  12. Yes, alright - thank you, Paarma. I will follow the Aerodrome people, and give it Mauve/Green wings. That fits good witn the yellow/green design. Here is a first screenshot - I must do some fine adjustments still.
  13. DrI mission range challenge

Fill in 150% - 200% of what the mission needs; and reduce throttle to 60 - 70 % before warp.
  14. So, I won't have a cable from head to rig? It's Bluetooth then, and much more fefficient/precise? In that case, I may get it.
  15. Change your behaviour, GAW - fly FOR your wingmen. Watch them, guard them, help them out, and bring them back home with you. It will be rewarded - with a good feeling, and with confirmations!
  16. Good looking: the Albatros D Va of Hans Böhning, by Deadhead - see: download section. Why didn't you post a screenshot here yet, Deadhead?
  17. SKINNERS MAKE A WIN.RAR FILE (AND A SCREESHOT) OF THEIR SKINS AND UPLOAD IT HERE: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...amp;showcat=351
  18. BARNSTORM - if you meant the original OFF skins: we all work from there, changing them. It's permitted by the team!
  19. The skin is ready now; as a special addition, I have added a little dripping oil for Widowmaker and OvS. But only a little!
  20. Version

    71 downloads

Skin created from original OFF skins made by OvS/James Romano and Paarma/Arto Karttunen. This skin's emblem is the Reichsadler, as it was designed at the time of the Kaiser empire. The heraldic emblem of the eagle seems to go back to the double-headed eagle, used for the arms of the "Holy Roman Empire of German Nations" (Heiliges Römisches Reich Deutscher Nationen). And for Widowmaker and OvS, I have added a little oil dripping.
  21. Engine Sounds

Think, we must thank OvS for them - after my Camel carreer, I'll try an S.E.5a too. Yes, they sound great!
  22. Cracking new site.

If you wonder, why not many respond - this is a well known site around here (Lol!!) But good you discovered it for yourself - yes, it's a wonderful site.
  23. That's why I have kept the blue message lines on, Siggi. May be a negative point for immersion, but tells you on the spot, WHEN a plane crashed, that was destroyed by you (sometimes a lot later). So, then I look up ingame time quickly, and that should raise chances. Congrats to the scramble! They are often killer missions.
  24. Hi, Rick With the Pup, you shouldn't dive, but climb! She is a beautiful light crate and climbs nicely; but she's fragile like a butterfly, maybe. To get out of the usual rut, I also have various pilots. There are: Guenther Mahlo: Jasta 2, Bertincourt, August 1916; Halberstadt DII - an ernest pilot, who wants to follow MvR Juergen Mahlo: Jasta 2, Bertincourt, September 1916; Albatros DI - a light tempered guy, craving for kills Detlev Mahlo: Jasta 11, Brayelles, April 1917; Albatros DIII - a gentleman officer and gambler, flying risky Wolfram Mahlo: Jasta 6, Lieu-St.Amand, January 1918 - humorous hazardeur, takes on every fight Wolf Mahlo: Jasta 15, Nesle/Le Mesnil, May 1918; Albatros D Va - good team leader, caring, flying with care and David Marlowe: RFC-65, La Lovie, October 1917; young firehead, needs to learn to integrate himself So, however I feel, I have the right pilot for it (not for long, mostly, though... Lol !!!)
  25. Couldn't resist. Someone asked recently, if anyone had tried it yet. I did. Picked a Fokker Dr.1, and put 5 S.E. 5a in advantage, in a QC. 1. attempt: survived, but ammo was out after downing three 2. attempt: got badly hit twice, engine failed out 3. attempt: got badly hit, plane wasn't manoeuverable enough, gave up 4. attempt: as 3. 5. attempt: see video
