Olham replied to MK2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
So, Jasta 7, eyh? Haven't flown there yet. Must check, wether they are "offensive" enough for my temper - if so, I'll join them! Thanks, all! -
I guess the flak crews got tired of me missing! (video)
Olham replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Not MUCH too far away, but still a little. As my rig is still too underrated for BHaH plus TrackIR plus FRAPS; here's an old vid you may have seen already; with some deflection shooting (pre TrackIR though). -
May have been seen before, but worth it to check again: www.largescaleplanes.com

Wow, look at that Nieuport, that you will find under DEJ's link - breathtaking!
-
The D VII was so much better than any other craft, that it was the ONLY aircraft, that was particularly named in the peace treaty. Have only used it in QC yet, but with that craft, I can kill anything - even when badly outnumbered. A "killer warthog" as I call her - ugly, but extremely effective!

OAW means Ostdeutsche Albatros Werke (as far as I know), but didn't know, they built the Fokker D VII? Wikipedia didn't list that either. Here's some data they had: D VII: flüssigkeitsgekühlter 6 Zyl.-Reihenmotor: Mercedes D.IIIa, Startleistung (120 kW) 160 PS, D VII F: BMW D.IIIa (Höhenmotor), Startleistung 185 PS Höchstgeschwindigkeit: 189 km/h in 1.000 m Höhe 205 km/h in 2.000 m Höhe Steigzeit auf 1.000 m: 5 Minuten 48 Sekunden F: 2 Minuten 24 Sekunden Steigzeit auf 3.000 m: 8 Minuten 12 Sekunden Steigzeit auf 5.000m: 31 Minuten 30 Sekunden F: 15 Minuten 18 Sekunden Gipfelhöhe: 6.000 m F: 7.000 m Reichweite: 350 km Flugzeit: 1 Stunde 30 Minuten Bewaffnung: 2 LMG 08/15

Interesting video tricks, and touching story (well, for us men - don't show your ladies; they'll shrugg and say: "Men!", with that sniffy smile.)
-
The D VII F was a Hoehenjaeger (high altitude fighter). It was about 15 km/h faster, and, if the data I found were right, it had a much better climb rate. Which other is there?

Wow, the "coming soo" section looks promising at WWW.WINGNUTWINGS.COM And the RODEN 1:32 plastik kits are surely great!

Voss and the skidding, flat turn...?
Olham replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I remember Womenfly2 posting, that the flight model for the Dr.1 is much closer to the real thing, if you put it from "realistic" to "easy". Worth a try, for that Voss combat and turn. -
Couldn't fly today, because of social duties - cooking with friends. I made two or three attempts to tell them of this great sim, but they gave me a pityful smile. Obviously, they didn't even know, that an Albatros was a FIGHTER PLANE! When we went to do the shopping, a Cessna crossed the sky above Berlin-Steglitz. Before I saw it, I imagined it to be a Halberstadt or an Albatros, in my phantasy. Looking up, I wished I could be in my cockpit, trying to grow my kill tally. Reality - sometimes sucks!

Can you leave the plane if forced to land?
Olham replied to Luiz Carlos's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Luiz, as soon as your plane is safely down, you can hit escape, if you get attacked still. Sim ends that flight there then, with no problem for you. If they don't attack you, you could mark enemy planes via TAC and brackets, and press "A" for wingmen attack. I did that recently, and they really shoot two crumpets down! Olham's revenge - Lol!! -
You won't be seen, so you can do it! Click your age, and let's all see, how old the aces around here are. (I'm sure already, that most of us shouldn't be sent to duties anymore - doctor wouldn't allow! Lol!)

Captain Dirt and Captain Tuba! On standard checks, the medic told me, that you both are airworthy. In fact he said, that physically, you were in good condition. But he detected a melancholic touch in your conversations, which he hopes, will not end in a depression about your age! Well, before he returns to get you to the hospital, or brings strange medicines, I tell you, what I think is a good cure! You will enter your cockpits now, and perform some Tango with the enemy, to entertain the ground crew. And don't come back with left over ammunition! Is that understood?! Fine! There you go! Dismissed!

Wow, Rooster (and Paarma) - are those black Albatros skins in the sim? What Jasta then? They look terrifying! -
http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww1/f/415/59 This is a lovely site with lots of plane types/skins. I had it posted before, but read now, that some of you didn't come to grips with it. Now, you choose your plane from the list on the left; then in the middle appears a choice of nationalities, of which they have paintings. Choose one, and on the right, you'll get a list of planes, ordered in pages. Click on a page, and you'll see all the preview pics of the skins. Click on the skin, you want to see, and it will come large. Enjoy!

Want to start a thread here, were I would like to ask you all to answer this in a similar (short) length. 1. Which plane (exact type) did you fly mostly so far in BHaH? 2. Which Squadron, Escadrille or Jasta did you make your most flights in? 3. What was your highest confirmed hits score? 4. What were your most flight hours with one pilot? 5. Dido you fly in Dead is Dead mode? 6. Did you fly with 100 (or more) % reality?

My Final Finnish DVII
Olham replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
My god, Widow - when do you sleep, eat, drink, work, and care for the family? It's an obsession! (Yes, it surely is - I have worked out more ideas to do over the easter days). -
RABU - I hope you don't mind! I couldn't resist; made another version from the two pics. I wanted you look more the possible age, so I darkened your beard, eyes and eyebrows, put more shadows to the face etc. (Being a graphic designer, that is quickly done with Photoshop.) If you like it - it's your's! Enjoy!

My best pilot Wolfram "Wolf" Mahlo just got captured. We spotted a flight of 4 SPAD XIII deep below, attacking an army camp. Easy prey, I thought, and led my flight downwards. When we levelled with them, one SPAD was badly shot up by ground fire, she fell like a stone. That should have been my warning! Cause they were now heading home; the lines were already close. Fast as they are, we found it hard to catch up with them. When I saw in the map, that we were above the line, I turned round, to remain over our territory - only to get heavily shot at. I checked the map, but was right - we had returned over our territory! The shooting went on though, and I was so terribly hit (splinters flew around me), that I had to introduce an emergency landing. But they kept firing from all guns like mad. "This is an Albatros, you mad b*****s, you stupid m***********s; bunch of idiots!!!" They really made it into a crash landing! Could I have walked, I would have run right over there, to clobber them...! Jesus!!! But now came the strange part. On exit, I was told, I was now captured and a POW for the rest of the war! After that, I have switched AA gunnery back to "normal" (better than "not normal!") and have sworn myself: never shall I cross the front lines again below 2.500 feet. Dammit! Mollusks!! Brainless like bread!!! PS: Wish I could say: Look, another kill. But this SPAD was also killed by FLAK, short before I could shoot it up. These AA men really are a pain in the a** today!
-
Yes, of course! Yesterday, I followed an R.E.8, I had already damaged. It got separated from the rest, but it was fast underway; could hardly get closer with my Dr.1. We came over a town, and Flak really had a go after the two-seater. It was mad to follow it - I could have been blown to pieces any second (but made it, and downed the poor blighters). And for the machine gun ground fire: they could move those guns much faster than an AA gun. So, when you're really low, and many keep firing art you, you will probably collect some severe hits.

Happy surprises with the Roland C.II
Olham replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Okay, will check on Sunday (no time today; social duties - cooking for friends!) But try all cockpit views, like "virtual cockpit" (check "controls") - it must be somewere (if I haven't dreamt it - Lol!) Edit/PS: hmmm - thinking deeper about it, it might have been different: I could have used the coolie hat glide view. I think, that's what I did. Sorry... But I'll check anyway. -
Hey, great, Rabu! From the lower one, I had always thought of being authentic! Hey, you guys - keep them coming!
-
Macklroy: WOW! I mean if this stuff actually plays like the advertisement suggests i might have found a new home. Okay then - once again: welcome in your new home, flyboy! I have flown and liked IL2 - 1946 extensively. But only now I know, how much flying a crate requires. Give her more rudder!

Bloodthirst craze or grown up pilot
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Ras: Joseph Duesterhoeft ( what is the origin of that name?) Directly translated, the words mean "Duester = Dark", and Hoeft = seems to be a Danish form of Hof, or Gehoeft = Farm. When family names were introduced, to distinguish the two Davids in the town, one become the "Townsend David", later David Townsend. So I assume, your ancestors were living on a farm, that may have been surrounded and shadowed or hidden by many trees, giving it a sombre, dark look from a distance. In German, the name does exist in a similar form: Duesterhof. Gwar: I must admit, WW2 german uniforms were quite impressive, especially the black gestapo uniforms Wellllll - the look was often good (really jaunty designs); but even in a GeStaPo uniform, Himmler didn't look good (shiver!) And especially those guys, you would rather not have liked to meet in real life. It's like in the Stones' song: Let me introduce myself - I'm a man of wealth and taste... Hasse Wind: I don't usually choose a side simply on the basis of nationality (don't want always to be the German), but rather based on what aircraft are available. I love turn fighters, so I usually fly for the side that has the best of them. Yes, that's what I will do more now. I must get to grips with that excentric witch named Camel.
