OT to the boy's of 138 & 161 sqdn
Olham replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
There's so much more in that site. All the British airforce, and Luftwaffe museums etc. And the Lysander may look ugly to us, but maybe their pilots saw that different. Pilots are more practical people, I'd say, and find a plane beautiful, whe it behaves beutiful. Right, WomenFly2? -

My admiration and respect for those men, who fought Fashism alone, or with only a handful of comrades. Most of all soldiers, they had to fight the enemy AND their own fears. They were heroes, as much as a man can be a heroe. So I'd like to contribute a link to an interesting website, and a picture. http://www.bredow-web.de/RAF_Museum/Westla...d_lysander.html -
Combat Ace skin Contest for OFF: Win a 23" Dell Monitor for best skin!
Olham replied to MK2's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
Hi, MK2 Can we post more than one skin? Cause I'd find it hard to pick out the best one; I have made several ones I like for myself. Thanks, Olham -
Great historical source for german aviators

Thank you, Shredward - that might have been him. Dutch - do you mean the dogfight against Guynemer, or is there more about Udet? -
Great historical source for german aviators

Great link, Creaghorn. Just when I was told by my mother, that my father had known some Jeschonneks; one of them was a fighter pilot in WW1 and had known Ernst Udet. I found three here, and will research for the first name now. Thanks for posting! -

Another Albatros DII - Red Devil
Olham replied to Beanie's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
That's a threatening picture of a devil - like an ancient caveman's painting! Imagine that on a white or yellow fuselage! There is a white Albatros D V or D Va, I think; and yellow ones too. If they have other signs on already, I try to find another part of the fuselage, that is empty, copy a patch out, and put it in were to cover the undesired sign. Just thought of your devil, on a white fuselage, with a black tail (can be copied from another plane), and a red nose (also to be copied). Try to get a program, that can do that, and let it rock, Beanie! -
Thanks for your invitation some time ago, to come here, Widowmaker I was just too busy with other problems (you know what I mean - Lol!) But now I just grabbed some screenshots to post here. Will add more later. The "Blue Wolf" is a D Va, I'm flying in Jasta 15, April 1918. The yellow "Milan" (Red Kite) is a D V, I use with Jasta 12, 1917 And the red wooden Albatros D II is my plane at Jasta 2, September 1916.

A design with stripes, I'm working on. But not yet what I want it like. It's difficult, as you work on an "unfolded" skin, to get the lining right.

Screen Shots, Videos, Media, OFF Posters
Olham replied to MK2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Great, you got it with the screens, Creaghorn! Here's my latest kill - the Twin Gun Tripe of Collishaw. He preferred to jump to death. The skin is my latest test version of an Albatros design, but not yet what I want. -
Creaghorn, best to check your "controls" menue for the key for "screenshots" - mine is F12, but maybe I changed that. You also can assign another key there. The make a screenshot, and look also at C: eigen dateien > eigen bilder (But I think, it should be in the CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder). Grüsse! Olham

Although I could really do very well with that new monitor myself, I ask all to read the very first sticky thread, and take part in the contest. Come on!

It has happened to a (real life) female parachute glider. She was lifted up so high, she lost conciousness. She survived it though; woke up, when she was descending. A colleague though, died in the same incident.

Hey, Creaghorn Die Bilder sind auf C:eigene Dateien; da ist ein Folder der Sim irgendwo, und da sind sie drin. Gruß. Olham

OT: My Ace Autograph and memorabilia collection pictures
Olham replied to MK2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Very impressive collection - they look so close suddenly. Especially with Udet I had this impression. Wonder how he felt in this funny special uniform (looks like one of Goering's designs). -
Krasny and Ras; TrackIR will improve your overall view, and situational awareness immense. It will NOT improve your shooting skills. Shooting will rather get more difficult, as your head moves now. But you can press "precision", that's like stiffening up your body and neck. Now you can't check your six so quick anymore, but therefor aim and shoot more precise. Your shooting skills must be developed. Forget the gunsights. Find out, were the tracers meet (when you have two guns) - that's your "hit spot". Do some Quick Combat, and shoot at planes. When they come from right to left, shoot somewere in front of them. The faster they fly, the more distance in front of them. That is deflection shooting. It will sooner or later become a feeling. You will now feel, were to shoot. That's when you've got it. Then, you can become an ace.

Click on "add reply", and below the text field, you will find "manage attachments". There, click "search / durchsuchen", there search for the folder and picture, click "open / öffnen", and then click "upload". That's it. See you!

The best reward to me is, that you really seem to enjoy it. And now that you told it, you may as well show some air combat pics of this flight in the skinning section. Have fun!

OFF BH&H Video: Letting OFF Steam.
Olham replied to catch's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hey, Widow - when you start FRAPS, there are choices for framerates and screensize. Try half size, and frames max 25 or so. That should also make it smaller. You can later still view it full screen. Just try. -
first Pfalz D.III skin
Olham replied to Rooster89's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
Hey, wazzamatta here? Everybody feeling insufficient suddenly? That's what all the real artists feel most of the time - that it should be better. But why not let each other benefit from your ideas, your spirit. And ask for advice and improvement tips? Rooster - did you take the skins out again, or can my system just not open them? -
I would have also voted for Udet, but dictators don't let people vote even. Udet, when he had become a Luftwaffe general, finally killed himself, when he saw, which direction everything went in Germany. A real shame - the fatty should have rather done so.

Rudder advice requested from the REAL pilots
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I bought SAITKEK flight pedals recently, but found, that some manoeuvers were much different to the flying with my yaw stick. An Albatros - not being the most agile plane - is very hard to fly with them in tight turning combat, and I stall crashed so often, that I threw the pedals in a corner. For a while. But I'm not one, who gives up easy on something (or ...one) he loves. To Womenfly2 and Duck and the other pilots round here: how is rudder to be used in tight turning? And which amounts of? (I think I always pushed it to the limits). -
The Dr. 1 is not as beautifully shaped as the Albatros. I found it hard, to think of anything, I'd like to see. So I did a version first, that looks rather German military field grey. It's close to a plane, I've sent a video of, in the main forum. More will follow. PS: most work was, to make new, clean Iron Crosses - I didn't like them to be on a white band always. But on the sides, they are a bit too large.
