  1. Hi, Typhoon Since you're the one, who sent me my first Phase 2 copy (and many thanks for your kindness again!), I feel the urge to help you with this. To feel good, you want some time for your fun, too. So, make an own list, with BHaH in it. Tell her, it's doctors order. It's a necessity, if she wants a well-tempered husband around the house. And make one sortie a day. It's become so immersive - a must-do on the priority list! Have fun, and all the best for the well deserved new life now! Olham
  2. Claim report question

Pol recently said somewere, that the claim report relates to rather few data (if I understood that right). So, I assume, you could write it very plain and short, like: "Craft hit and destroyed at 08:15 h south-west of Douai." or "SPAD XIII hit with 200 rounds, plane crashed about 11:14 h near Brayelles airfield." If you add more, it should be data "known" to the sim; like altitude, waypoint, direction. For me, such short reports worked and got confirmed. As the sim is in English, I can't imagine it a good idea, to write the report in German. But you could do this check: switch the instruments (like altimeter) to German version, and press "Z" ingame. Red text with data appears. If they are still in English, you should better use "feet/miles" etc. than "Meter/Kilometer". But that's just my idea of it, off course.
  3. AI collision

Bleech! Dozz anywon take ziss war seriouss anymore?!! Gentleman - we have a war to fight out! Instaed, I see pilots make landink attemtz in hangarrs, flyink ssrough other aircraft, or even into balloonz! Vatt is der matter vizz der Youth of today?
  4. Hi, MK2 You could put the "pause" on a button easy to reach. I often press "pause", when I encounter aces, cause I want to write down their names for the claim report. Also, for your learning, it is very interesting to pan through your outside viwe in that "frozen" status, to find, were evryone else is, and how they are doing. Now the purists would say: "Spoils the immersion! Cheat! Etc." But sometimes, I do that anyway; especially for good screenshots, to choose the right angle.
  5. Why not have your very own personal picture in your pilot log? I couldn't resist - working with Photoshop, I had to do it! I chose some pilot pics from the folder "campaign" > "campaign data" > "pilot photos" > "German" Also I found some old passport photos from the time, when I was 30 - 35 (not any younger ones found). Now, I cut out my faces, and threw them into the pilot photos. I reduced both on grey tones, and then experimented with contrast, brightness, sharpness etc. With patience and some retouch, the pics below came out. (Well, one was known already). I'm sure, you can get to some results with other programs like Corel Photopaint or similar, too. Make always sure, the final format you save it, is .bmp; and keep the size the before picture had. Next step: you want to find out the pilot number of the guy, you want to replace. If he is "pilot3.bmp", you go to the above folder with the pics, and copy that pilot to the desktop. Then you rename the file to "pilotX3.bmp" (that way, you can later reactivate him). Now, you name the newly created pilot "pilot3.bmp" and put him into that folder. Done! Hope, many of you will try this. I will assist you, when you have questions (as far as I can). Perhaps, we'll soon see most of you here - I'd be happy with that! Cheers. Olham
  6. If the AI could run out of ammo, it would make sense, to perform some zigzagging or winding manoeuvers, to let it shoot the magazines empty, and then have the advantage. If not, that would be an extreme disadvantage for the player, as they could shoot and shoot, without taking care even, how good aiming is. If AI could run out of fuel, it would have to turn home at some point, or make a forced landing. If not, the player would always be the one, who would at some point, have to get out of the fighting, to reach his hoem base, while the AI could then follow him and carry on shooting. Would you devels tell?
  7. AI collision

Bleech!!! Zee crumpetz have a Wunderwaffe! A plane, zat LOOKS like an S.E.5a, butt can shoot wormholes through German planez, fly ssrough zem, and kick out der Engine from der Albatros! Now, vee can only put lots of Sauerkraut into der rear fuselage, zatt would perhaps clogg ze wormhole. In ze best case, zee enemy plane vould not come through! It vould perhaps never come out again???!!! Zatt is der best idea I ever had! Mmmuahahahahaaaaa!!!!!!!
  8. Pulling Your Bus Into the Shed

Good idea, Dej (Winder will be winding in his sleep again - lol!) Woohoo!!! Widow - first the Stranglers, and now this! - RFC metal rocker (funny mix! Lol!)
  9. Regard it as a compliment - your great granddad in his younger days.
  10. Great, you all join in with it - Rooster, Hauksbee, Lou and Red Dog, well done! (and if you want to start a German campaign, Red Dog, you would be Roter Hund, or, like a family name: Reinhard Rothund).
  11. Pulling Your Bus Into the Shed

Would perhaps be a good idea for scrambles - hide in the shed first, and then roll out for attack, when the enemy is short of ammo. Nice text layout work and music - funny to watch, Lou!
  12. I just did a quick bash on a D III, but read this only later. So, you get a black fuselage now, but with quite some Croatian checker. If you want, I can write something on it. Just say, what, and I'll add that.
  13. Hi, Rooster! Looks believable to me! A bit stiff in the neck, perhaps. I found it very tricky, to get the right size of the face, for the pilot picture. You got the size right, I think. Perhaps, if you moved the head a little tick forwrds, and cut out the cap, to move it a bit deeper down; he (you) would appear "more relaxed" (Lol!) You definitely got the right approach, and the hand for it!
  14. Yes, a plane, hard to achieve a high kill tally with. The Dr.1 or the D VII would be much easier.
  15. Is she standing on a barbeque (Spanish Inquisition?)? Still looking rather happy though. Did you use Photoshop, Beanie?
  16. Do you really want to use it for yourself? Cause it would be easy to do, and I could do so. Perhaps on a black fuselage? If you really want it, tell me so - I will then send it in the near future.
  17. Great progress, Widow - I just don't find the time to get deeper into the tool box of it all. But it's all here to be found and read later, I hope. Rooster, the idea of OvS doing a video teaching program ain't bad. But I think he should appear as in his avatar. That would be a great show!
  18. I noticed one thing:

Could be, that they fly away, when: - they are out of ammo - when they are too damaged for turn fighting I had that several times (I still use TAC sometimes), that I realised the enmy (red) specs moving away over their lines and turning white again. When I didn't or couldn't follow, they had escaped.
  19. Canon de Guynemer ....

Vell, I can only repeat myself, again and again: if you vant zis distructive ant impressive veapon power, zen djoin ze Kaiser's Jastas. Sign here! Viss our twin gunz ant 1.000 - 1.100 roundz of ammunition, , you can literally saw der enemy planez too piessez! Mmuahahahahaaa!!!!
  20. I noticed one thing:

No, it happens, that they try to get away! I had a fierce fight with SPAD XIII, and one of the two remaining pilots, whom I had hit severely, tried to escape. He flew off towards his heartland, and as the SPAD is pretty fast, I had to do some long range shooting, to damage him more, so that I could catch up with him. I was still some 800 feet behind him, but made some hits, when, all of a sudden, he rolled on his back and pulled right into the soil. On the other hand: you can hardly get out of a fight, that's begun. You can only try that with an undamaged, fast enough plane, or when you still have an advantage of height. Everything else is like turning you back to an attacking tiger. Hopeless.
  21. anybody heard about gous?

CJ: Actually it's PLAGIARISM. Well, UncleAl often finds his own southern forms for words - or are you perhaps very cheeky, and mixing "plagiarism" with "plague", Uncle? Hey, Gous - nice to hear you have fun. Perhaps you will make some movies, when you have FreeTrack? I intend to, but must first get my rig updated. Fraps get low, when I switch on FRAPS.
  22. Well, I believe, OvS and the other skinners have researched it all well. Here are some pictures, corresponding to OvS' words above. All info from: The Wings Palette http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww1/f/415/59 The planes shown are: Unit: JG I (Serial: F.I.102/17) Pilots: Rittm Manfred von Richthofen (JG I, August-September) ObLt Kurt Wolff (Jasta 11, September, he killed on this aircraft) Note: engine cowling maybe Red. Unit: JG 1 (Serial: Dr.127/17) Pilot: Rittm Manfred Von Richthofen Unit: JG I (Serial: Dr.141/17) Pilot: Rittm Manfred Von Richthofen. Unit: JG I (Serial: Dr.152/17) Pilot - Rittm Manfred von Richthofen. France, March 1918 Unit: JG I (Serial: Dr.161/17) Pilot - Rittm Manfred von Richthofen. France, March 1918 Unit: JG I (Serial: Dr.477/17) Pilot - Manfred Von Richthofen. France, end of March 1918. Unit: JG I (Serial: Dr.425/17) Pilot - baron Manfred Von Richthofen, 1918. Aircraft was painted in Red at factory. Richthofen is top-scoring ace of World War I with 80 kills. He was shot down on 21 April 1918. Unit: Jasta 11 (Serial: Dr.454/17) Pilot - CO of Jasta 11, Lt.Lothar von Richthofen. France, March-April 1918. Flown this aircraft in March 1918 he shot down 3 enemy plane. The last plane is of Lothar - for Uncle - it was not red, but yellow at the tail. Yellow was the colour of a cavallery regiment, Lothar had served in before.
  23. Enjoy these (the music is another matter of taste, but what can I do?): Building Albatros D III Albatros D V Albatros Albatros D Va
  24. My first SUCCESSFUL scramble mission!

For a phase of learning, I even went a bit further (shameless, the purist says): I had TAC on, marked the first white spec (they are still white often, as they fall down on you from some 12.000 feet - my plane always breaks up, when I try that!) Then I pressed F4, until I got a view of the enemy plane. Now, with button for "next target", I could switch through them all. Now, I knew plane type and number of enemies. Nothing, I shouldn't have known (them AI pilots know I'm down there, too). Helps a lot. Just for learning.
  25. Joystick Recommendations

Right, I'll give 'em a good try in "free flights" - sounds, like they're worth it; and maybe I pushed them too hard. I couldn't hit a barn.
