  1. Screen Shot Question

See "Screenshots Tutorial" thread, two or three pages back.
  2. They were boys...

If you watch it like this: - don't think, it's about MvR - imagine, it's just about any other Jasta - then I'd say it's interesting to watch. The planes were modelled with a lot of detail. Mostly, they seemed (to me) to fly right - the diving though, really, was insane, and physically impossible. But still, I don't know any other movie showing a German Jasta and their planes in such detail. Definitely a man's movie (like Titanic was a woman's movie).
  3. less than 100% fuel loadout?

Yes, it is. I always do that. When I read 60 miles total round trip, I fill in petrol for 90 miles, to have some reserved for fighting. If you want to warp, you might even take petrol for 100 - 110 miles with you. Warp doesn't seem to manage fuel control too well. But try it - you'll see.
  4. Honoured by a veteran - thank you, Hood!
  5. Just purchased OFF

Welcome here, Church When you are an "old" RB3D simmer, you will find many friends here, as many others were, too. And some of the dev team had also worked on RB3D, as far as I know. I am just upgrading my rig, because I am SO HAPPY with "Over Flanders Fields", that I know, I'll play it for years. As long as you can't upgrade, don't hesitate to write a thread, asking for peoples help, who have a similar setup as you. You'll find them all very nice, helping hands and brains round here. Have fun! Olham
  6. Well, with eighty-six, you don't want to take risks, right? You want to ROCK 'N ROLL! Have fun, Hood! (What did you fly back in the 1940s, if I may ask?)
  7. First, I want to say, that I have recently warped several times, with good results. Crew was always there, plane positioned right. But just that last flight, I came out of the warp, still on own territory. So, I pressed "X" again. That warp was interrupted, due to enemies near. Alright so far. But this time,my plane stood almost headover. So I cut back throttle, to put her right again. Then I performed a half turn, as the enemies were now behind us, and began to climb towards them. After half a minute, I heard a terrible cracking noise, and screen turned red! I had just looked around and on the TAC: my wingies were further behind me, and the enemies had just appeared at the outer ring of the TAC. No other plane was near me at all! Now, my best pilot is killed, and I can't say, how? Anyone else had this to happen? And what exactly must I do, to resurrect the poor bloke?
  8. Well, in this case, I made an exception and ressurected him; thanks, Siggi! Although I'd prefer to say, rescued him. (Zombies don't smell good...)
  9. Crash Dive when coming out of Warp

Someone said somewhere, it happened, when "auto mixture" or was it "auto level/trim" was switched off, or on - ??? you see, I'm no help. Next one, please. PS: the thread was "warping question", some 5 pages back.
  10. BEWARE! Unknown ace

The Bordeauxred Baron: Mmuahahahahahaaaa!!!!!!!! Olham: Hahaha!!! That was a nice and cool surprise you made me there, Jammer! Hope, I haven't shot at you? Creaghorn, it takes a pound of pomade, to glue that officer's cap onto my head - the sacrifice you make for style! The Bordeauxred Baron: Argh! Wels has told my trick. It took me montz to make zee enemy believe, I always only look to ze right! Now don't you tell zem also, zatt I DO check my six! - Bleech! - did I say zat, loud? In here? Verdammte hunderttausend Höllenhunde!!!
  11. Yes, I think it is shift + "I", or only "I" ? Check "controls".
  12. They were boys...

The (Warner ?) movie was made with the German actors speaking English, to reach a world wide market. Then the company decided, it wasn't interesting enough for the big market, and now, as far as I know, there is only a German DVD available - the actors synchronized themselves in German. I think, it even has no subtitles (thanks to Warner, or which studio ever!) But someone above announced a download in English from an unknown source, if I read that right?
  13. Jasta 15, Bonneuil Ferme, 27. April 1918 We were on a ground support mission at the front line bow, south-west of St.Quentin. Flight 1 had gone up high; so we were at 11.000 feet. The huge towering april thunder clouds painted a dramatic scenery. Suddenly I saw them: two flights of SPADs coming down like falcons from some 3.000 feet higher on flight 1. When we got there, most of friend and foe had chased each other down towards the deck. But 3 SPADs had remained up here, and began their attack on us. I sent von Marchlewitz and Beckedorf after the others, and took up fighting "my" SPADs with von der Ziegler behind me. One of the three also travelled downwards. The SPAD attacking me first now, was William "Bill" Thaw, covered by a wingman. When he saw, that he couldn't get behind me, he also played the falcon. Knowing about my wing structures, I followed in safer spirals. When I came down, he came back up again, and the turning began. Now, I know how to turn into a SPAD, and soon he only got punches. His wingman can't help - von der Ziegler is like a bulldog after him. Two-and-a-half minutes later, William Thaw digs his nose into the dirt like a dying boar. But now I realise, that the other SPADs must have "smoked up" all of flight 1 plus my wings 2 and 3, or chased them to the horizon. Flying over von der Ziegler, I had noticed briefly, how 5 or 6 SPADs all jumped on him. Moment of a hard decision: flying on would just now get me over the line, over our grounds. Turning round would make me confront all these SPADs, to get out von der Ziegler. Before I had finished a wide half turn, von der Ziegler had been wiped out. And now, I flew right into that swarm of mad hornets. To cut it short: I made it around again and, taking hits, to crawl back over the lines. While the 103rd were still mad after me, I had to perform a crash landing, surrounded by trees. I just made it alive. Next time, I shouldn't turn round for an already lost wingman, if I want to survive all this. Right? How hard must a pilot become in these days?...
  14. They were boys...

There's really not much more flying in there, and I think it is historicaly inaccurate. The rest is a matter of taste - but I liked it better than Flyboys.
  15. DEJ, I have changed my "Wolf skin" now, and used the idea, you had. Now it reads: "Sieh Dich mal um!" (Look around you, or Look back). Better, indeed!
  16. Very encouraging indeed, UncleAl. Thanks!
  17. Got another SPAD XIII half an hour ago, and it's sheer extasy, when you know, what they CAN'T perform with their "speedo zoom boom diver planes", and wait just at THAT corner to nip the bud. Unfortunately, my bloodrush blinded my sights again for that red warning line, saying something about aircraft stress or so (by the time, I noticed it, the left wing had gone off). The Kaiser now doesn't know, wether to praise my kills, or to send me bills for the four Albatros, I have already cost the Reich. Some at headquarter speculate even, about me working for the enemy! That's really not fair - the crash hurt!!
  18. Yes, Pfalz D IIIa is a sturdy battlehorse. Haven't tried her yet in BHaH, but I remember from Phase 2, that it was a very reliable plane, that didn't tend to stall easily. But certainly no turn fighter against an agile plane like the Camel. I used to shoot down Camels, flying a kind of in-and-out triangle, but I'm afraid, in BHaH, that will not be so easy anymore. I will try the Pfalz again, later. For the next weeks or even months, I will go on learning to get the best out of my beloved Albatros.
  19. Yes, looked it up and you're right , DEJ. I had thought, "don't cry wolf" meant, don't cause false alarm. But it seems, to "cry wolf" always means that. I'm never too old to learn, I always say. Thanks, DEJ. Now I must change that skin. Funny: "Look behind you!" is exactly one, I also had in mind.
  20. RB3D or OFF3

Total ditto to Simon, with brass band!
  21. Only a doubt

Hey, that's interesting, GAW Didn't know that. I'll try it this evening.
  22. Siggi - do what you must. But remember: it looks a damn silly report, saying, your plane rammed into a tree. Cars and motorbikes - yes. But planes?
  23. Okay, thanks, Siggi - will have a look tomorrow at that. Oh, and I forgot to mention in the above: there was NO AA activity, when it happened.
  24. And it's not really found by myself - found it under BONBO's signature. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e644WFD1rgM
  25. Than you, Lou, for that one - never heard of it, but will google for now.
