Marvelous---and a few questions
Olham replied to wonderwarthog's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Wonderwarthog (like in Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers?), For the Force Feedback, I think UncleAl is the man to ask - perhaps in a PM? The screenshots are on C: my files, there the OverFlandersFields folder. You make them with F12. -

Nieuport 17 Lewis Repainted!
Olham replied to Gous's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
Maybe best to see, what Gous is coming up with in his tutorial, WIDOWMAKER. I can't help you really, as I don't know, how the various menues and tool of Photoshop are named your side of the north sea. But so much: I don't work with the original layers, as I can't get to them. DXTBmp converts the dds files into 24 bit bitmaps. I usually choose a skin, that is close to what I want to get. If it's bright wood, I'd like to have in another tone, I choose the wood with the "magic stick" (?) and go to "picture", "variations", and add red or yellow, until I'm pleased. If I want stripes on it, I frame the area with the rectangle, and overpaint the field with the colour wanted, but only with a covering/intensity (?) of 20 percent. If that's too faint, I repeat it. Now I have a shimmer of new colour, with the wood structure or weathering still shining through. Now I go to "picture", "variations", and vary brightness or darkness, or colours, until it gets right. If I want yellow or white parts on a dark fuselage, I cut them out of a white or yellow skin, and place them in the right position of a dark skin. It's good to have 4 - 5 skins chosen, that may provide you with the right parts. The wolf head was a jpeg from the web, I changed just a little with "variations", and "finger" (?), which I used to wipe up more fierce eyebrows. It's rather simple, how I work. -
Albatros DII jasta 5 - for Olham
Olham replied to Beanie's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
Thanks, Beanie! You fly Albatros planes in OFF (as your avatar would say)? How do you get on with them? For skinning, I think they are great, cause they are beautifully shaped planes; and you can use almost any colour on German side. Keep them coming! -
Haha! I pinched myself not to write that, Widow, but had the same thought, I admit. Vanessa - you're getting us pretty mixed up here! (Lol!)

Air combat "painting" with own skin
Olham posted a topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
This was made in Phase2 already, but might still be okay for use as desktop. So, if anyone wants - feel free to use it. The Albatros is an own skin I made for my neighbour. -
Just grabbed together more Albys. Some of them might still be shots from old Phase 2; or at least in a lower resolution than I use now.

Thanks a lot, Widow - but no reason for jealousy. I even think, you're doing a much "deeper" job on the skins than I do. I haven't even come to grips with that NVIDEA stuff - maybe I only installed the PDFs, cause that was all I found (Lol!!!)

Now I'm starting to 'get it'
Olham replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
Hi, Widowmaker You're getting on great - and on the German planes, you can do almost anything. I downloaded the NVIDEA stuff (the upper file of the two), but can't open a dds file in Photoshop. How is the plugin to be used / activated? -
Another Close Shave & Trackir, how real does it get.

QUOTE: that was the first time it made me duck, i felt like a right twat as i sat there laughing to myself, or should i say at myself... No reason to feel ashamed, I'd say - rather a good example for immersion. Like in a sad moment in a good movie, you may have tears in your eyes, although you know, it's all acting and cuts. Speaks for this sim - and TrackIR. -
Thanks for that, Widow Great stuff around here - good you got this extra place for skins. I'll have to take closer looks later. And will post more of my designs, too.

Albatros DII - Jasta 5
Olham replied to Beanie's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
Somehow can't open your attachments. I get the lines saying "attachment", but they are not attached in the same way, as others, were I see a reduced picture, that I can click on to enlarge. -
Albatros DII _ Beware of the Nun in the Sun!
Olham replied to Beanie's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
Attachment doesn't work, Beanie. To make an attachment, best go "more options", then search for the file to be uploaded, then press upload (Max. single upload size: 3 MB), then press "add reply". -
Welcome back, Barnstorm - you'll like it here, I'm sure. By the way - how is it going with donations to the forum? I'd like to make one.

It WILL help a lot, for your situational awareness, RICKITYCRATE! First, you may get dizzy from the wide view angles you cover now. But then, you can check much better and quicker, who is were.

Hey, Siggi Hope, this doesn't get too "nice & friendly" for your calibre. You're a well regarded gentleman here now, I'd say - if you like it or not. (Hehe!!)

If that had been my aerodrome, were you landed, they wouldn't have bothered. It happened to me several times recently, that I didn't reach my base, or just on the last drop. After warping that was - somehow it doesn't manage fuel too well. Cause, before each flight, I fill in the petrol for one-and-a-half flightpaths ( roundtrip: 60 miles; fill in for 90 miles). That way I have some reserve for dogfights. But warping, I always seem to loose more.

WomenFly2, you don't have to worry about your "status" - just send us more, and post more often; that way you will become listed as a "valued member" soon - although you always have been right that to us all anyway.

OFF Advanced skinning tutorial
Olham replied to Gous's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - Skinning / Modeling Help
01:02 h after midnite in Berlin - download worked well. I'll look at it tomorrow, so I can't say anything right now, but thank you, Gous. 01:02 h after midnite in Berlin - download worked well. I'll look at it tomorrow, so I can't say anything right now, but thank you, Gous. -
An idea for those who want to live a little longer
Olham posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
This is just a thought - haven't tried yet, if it works. But: I realised, when going through the choice of Jastas, that some are labeled as "defensive". They are often based further away from the front lines. Could it be, that they really do only defensive flights? Over own territory? (Winder? Pol?) Cause, if that is true, it would be the perfect choice for longer life and more flight hours. And still though, they should meet enemies now and then? Ernst Udet was in a defensive Jasta later on - perhaps his luck; so he survived the war. -
hahaha... I just noticed my Sig!

Hahahahahaaa!! Now you could have seen me perform a barrel roll without a plane! Geeez! Some days, it is SO MUCH FUN here, you don't want to leave! But I have to - I'm cooking with/for friends today. More fun! God, life can be so fantastic! -
Yez, Rick, evvrybody knows, ze Dshermans are fantastic marksmen! Mmuahahahahaa!!! I had collisions before the last patch. After patching, the wingies stayed away more. But they aren't wizzards. When you turn into them, they can't react quick enough sometimes. Situational awareness and overview is the key, I think. Cause, when I happily turned with everyone in the furballs, it happened all the time. I just couldn't check all directions - someone might be directly under your plane. Pressing "return" every now and then seems to help - as if they can locate you better then. I do that in dogfights even, when I haven't ordered them to attack. And then they stay behind me.

Well, I just looked up the word "panache" - and then it fitted you so well (Lol!) Regard it as a very honour - they don't do that with everyone. -
Could I use that with my ATI card as well?
