  1. The Ghost Army

The good side of modern TV, Shiloh - everything will get repeated some day. Good story about the hardships of life, and how they dealt with that before we got flooded with after-war comfort, Flyby.
  2. Thank you guys! Jasta markings often changed later in the war. I have only collected markings on Albatros types here. If anyone likes - why not make a second part for Pfalz D.IIIa, Fokker Dr.1 or E.V, or Fokker D.VII ?
  3. The Photo Archive at the "Wingnut Wings" website is always good for interesting pics. http://www.wingnutwings.com/ww/ Here is one from a German Naval unit. The Jpeg description reads: "Albatros D.Va Marine Field Jasta, Neumunster Seefrosta. Note the Halberstadt Cl.II no.24 & Albatros D.III no.12" The crosses mean it must have been taken in 1918. Not sure, if they mean, here are both, MFJ and Seefrosta planes together. Or were the Seefront-Staffeln (Seefrosta) parts of Marinefeldjagdstaffeln (MFJ) ? And who's planes/markings do we see here? A question for our historians.
  4. No danger there, Robert - if you would, you would have forgotten!
  5. Robert, I guess you saw what you saw - it is a known point, that sometimes default skins of other Jasta are getting used, when the Labels say something else. If you want to browse through the skins and really see them while browsing, I recommend the freeware "Irfanview", which you can download here: http://www.irfanview.de/ You just install it and click on "Open", then browse to the right folder, and open any skin. After that you can use arrows left and right; or you browse for another. Enjoy!
  6. The first one is, as elephant said, a D.III OAW from Jasta 18. This one with white fuselage band is the craft of Johannes Klein. Klein survived the war; he had confirmed 16 victories. For the D.V I found the same as elephant - a standard Jasta 36 craft.
  7. Not I mentioned an Albatros "12" - it was the name of the "Wingnut Wings" picture. I don't know what they meant. Here are the close-up - it's all I have. http://www.wingnutwi...E1225BC06B3020E
  8. Yes, indeed. MFJ and Seefrosta are not so well known as the many Jasta. I searched the web, but with little result.
  9. Well-ll - almost. "Kuchen" means "cake" in German; a little yellow chicken would be "Kücken". But I cannot recognise the 'Kücken' on that skin. Here is what OFF has for Hubrich's emblem: Great! It may be hard to find anything though - tough job. .
  10. Yes, indeed - let's hope someone will come up with some more knowledge.
  11. Good info, thank you, quack74! Do you have info, who was flying the other personalised aircraft in the photo?
  12. Lou, enjoy a peaceful Sunday - no, forget the "peaceful"; I guess you'll make a sortie or two. And so will I - I will enjoy my new graphic card with my new Jasta 14 pilot in late October 1916. (I'm lucky - I won't have to freeze like those tough chaps surely did).
  13. Sorry, but I never tried anything like that. I guess I would be lost with more than one screen. I saw a lot of reference at the Microsoft and the AMD websites, but no trail of breadcrumbs to any download. I wish you more luck with the next poster for your efforts.
  14. Hey, Lou - a conference, eyh? One lof the dry sort I guess. Well, I came in to late to help you out. Been at friends, cooking, eating, chatting.
  15. Just Ordered BH&H

All BH&H requires will be CFS3 patched to 3.1 or so; plus the OFF patches (see: www.overflandersfields.com). Ahem - is that my drink over there? Oh, thanks! Well I think it does.
  16. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

Update 17 March 2013 - 01:38 h Berlin time (= GMT + 1) OldSimmer, Oklahoma added. The maps are in post 1 of this thread
  17. Just Ordered BH&H

...if you passed away within these two weeks... OldSimmer, forget about Phase 2, do yourself a favour and get yourself "Between Heaven and Hell" plus "Hat in the Ring!", and you should have a big adventure. All together costs only 29,98 $ if I calculated it correct. "Call of Duty"... Huh! Did I mistake your avatar for a pilot? Tch!!!
  18. Just Ordered BH&H

Robert, your spirit will not lie at any specific place - it will be able to be everywhere. So you will find the sim. You won't have the limitation to sit outside the action behind a screen - you will be able to fly any of those aircraft. Now that should be fun!
  19. Just Ordered BH&H

An advantage at our age is: two weeks go by like "whoosh!". A clear disadvantage is: I always keep forgetting that I am still only waiting within these two weeks...
  20. Just Ordered BH&H

Hey, I remember your striking face well, OldSimmer - nice to see you back! If you want the best experience, you should also get "Hat in the Ring!", cause with that came a Super-Patch and Final Patch, which changed the AI behaviour even greater! Best you check the install sequence at www.overflandersfields.com It is a great step from Phase 2 - and you're right: you won't survive it! Mmuahahahahahaaa!!!!
  21. Well made introduction into the starting proceedure and cockpit instruments of a great fighter plane: the Vought F4U "Corsair" (by ZENO WARBIRDS). The Japanese feared the "Whistling Death" - named after the characteristic whistling sound of the flying craft. I had the chance to see one on the ILA Airshow near Berlin in 2006 - it is a giant of a fighter, and when it gave full throttle, I was deeply impressed by the sound (and almost got blown away).
  22. This video (sorry for the poor quality) shows at 4:10 the start and flight of an early Caudron. One scene was made using a camera on the wing, filming the pilot in his "boat". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMjctr7pa1E
  23. No time to listen through it right now - how was he treated in the POW camp I wonder?
  24. Hindenburg Mystery Solved?

Flyby, now you've done it: you made me burst out laughing into the coffee cup I had just led to my mouth! Good my keyboard is watercoffeeproof! Good one!
