  1. What's Not to Love?

Bullet, I'm not sure if this was the reason for the sim dropping my victories occasionally, but since I got more memory (from 2 GB to 4 GB) I hardly had that happening anymore. It happened, when I had longer missions with several events, and then also took the time to make paused screenshots. But now this problem seems to have gone.
  2. If I should have had to make a choice out of all OFFers I know, who this story would come closest to - I would have picked your name immediately, Bullet!
  3. What's Not to Love?

Mmuahahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!! These are such great moments indeed! Not only in Westerns! Yes, you can very well wonder how - but I bet they will do!
  4. For all with Worries

Thanks for the heads up, guys. Yeah, from our brothers with the darker tan we can definitely learn what coolness is, and rythm. Makes you swing at once! Here is a sweet example - the power of reggae:
  5. Some people, like Wojtek, have a hand for building super-detailed model. This one is in the scale 1:32; I guess it is from "Wingnut Wings". Look at the several pages with photos of the completion of a great build. http://www.greatwaraviation.com/forum/index.php/topic,1750.45.html
  6. Italian missions package update

Lou, I would have never dared to try that - but when you say it works fine, then your word shall be enough for me.
  7. For all with Worries

Yeah, I asked one of the "real cracks" today (he had offered to "look at my code" to check it), and I found him helpless. He was amazed to see my way of approaching the problem, and found it looked "logical somehow". He only found some wrong bits, I had to solve the other problems myself. Ghasp!
  8. Fokker D.VIII

Here's "The Aerodrome" about the Fokker D.VIII: http://www.theaerodrome.com/aircraft/germany/fokker_dviii.php
  9. sparrowhawkms, I definitely ditto the TrackIR pros here. TrackIR is able to put you into the cockpit, no less. You will feel like really flying the crate. You will look out left and right, down the port side of the fuselage, a quick check of your six; it is the device to turn your sim into an almost real life feeling. Sounds expensive? Drop cinema and pizza service, drinks and magazines - whatever. You'll be surprised how soon you can save 120,- Dollars.
  10. Fokker D.VIII

I guess you mean the victory of Emil Rolff (on 17 August 1918), who died only two days later, when the wings of the same Fokker E.V collapsed. The skin of Emil Rolff (Jasta 6) is in the huge skin pack of OFF. The craft shows a white lightning on the fuselage sides.
  11. Italian missions package update

Lou, do you mean you have two installs of OFF? I hope someone will come up with an easy to understand as for how to install and use the Italian Campaign? Otherwise I'd be lost... I'm not good at such things.
  12. Impressive list, Bullet! jean, I would love to welcome more French flyers in this forum and WOFF - I keep my fingers crossed with you guys.
  13. Italian missions package update

HouseHobbit, if you have built missions with Stumpjumper and others, and you want to upload them to this forum's download section, then that is perfectly okay to use the OFF stuff in these missions. This OFF forum even has a section for user-built missions; see here: http://combatace.com/files/category/353-maps-missions-and-campaigns/ What you can not do is to make a package (a DVD or whatever) and distribute that on any other ways, as that would be a copyright infringement.
  14. My five Albatros D.III OeFFAG skins for our "Little Italy" campaign are uploaded now. They should soon be approved and available for download. The skinning I guess is a rather easy part of it all. I wonder how the rest is going on?
  15. Sure, Hobbit - use my skins; they were solely made for the "Little Italy" Campaign.
  16. Italian missions package update

Hobbit, sure - full permission; my Austrian skins were solely made for this. I wonder if anyone with historical knowledge has provided you with data about the airfields and bases used by the various squadrons and units through the war in Italy?
  17. For all with Worries

Thanks, Hauksbee! Well, AC/DC were never my cup of tea so much, but I have other noisy stuff I can use. My problem is, I don't want to learn to take an engine apart and re-compose it - I only want to drive the damn car. When I read the scripts and explanations, they make perfect sense to me. But if I must write similar new own scripts, my formulas always look different than those from the book. (I had the same problem already in school with mathematics...)
  18. 1. Arthur Gould Lee: "No Parachute!" 2. Cecil Lewis: "Sagittarius Rising" Both absolutely great reads, believe me! If you ever wanted to kind of accompany a British pilot of the Great War through his war days, weeks and months, you will surely find these books valuable. Edit: I do usually feel more "naturally at home" with German Jasta in OFF, but these two gentlemen really managed to bring the British pilots' everyday life and thoughts - their flying and freezing; their singing and drinking evenings in the mess - so close to my German soul, that I felt a deep empathy with them; and a very comfortable one.
  19. That sounds pretty stupid. I read about a manoeuvre by Nelson I think at Trafalgar (?). He acted in a completely unexpected way and let his ships sail rectangular towards and through the enemy lines. It seemed to be devastating, as the French ships couldn't fire at the British very much, while the British could fire full broadsides both sides, when they passed through the French lines. (At least that's how I memorise what I saw on TV). I prefer much to perform such unexpected manoeuvres.
  20. Welcome over Flanders fields, sparrowhawkms! Please send me a PM with your town and country - I will add you to the OFF Pilots Maps then. Using the inflight map is what I'd recommend for beginners, who want to fly more realistic. It shows you the momentary position of your craft. If you see then, that your course should be northwest, you could exit the map and fly after your compass again. Check map - correct course. (And your six of course!) The TAC is very helpful, cause it shows your course, plus a kind of radar showing all other aircraft around you in a certain range. But since I left the TAC behind I only know, how much it had always distracted me from the real life feeling. But it's okay for the first campaigns, I'd say, just to help you getting into the whole business.
  21. Would you say, that knowledge about Naval battle orders and tactics is much required for "Jutland"?
  22. Johannisthal Aerodrome

    From the album Airfield Photos

  23. Not "Famers" but "Famars". The Jastaschule Valenciennes was called Jastaschule Famars by Jentsch. I guess it was based at Famars, which is just south outside Valenciennes.
  24. What aircraft is that in the background in pic 1?
