  1. Bullet, I'm a graphic designer and use Photoshop. It didn't take too long. There are all sorts of brushes, some for calligraphics - I used those. But now I have found several colour profiles all showing this aircraft with a dark green underground instead of dark brown. Does anyone know, if it is known exactly?
  2. Italian missions underway

Had I posted this link? Lost overview... At the bottom of this Wiki page are many links to more pages about the Austrian army. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_and_Royal_Aviation_Troops_%28Austro-Hungarian%29
  3. NO! NO!! They do NOT come in any shades of pink or purple! No, they don't! ... although... - when I see the Austrian camo fabric made by a furniture company, and looking like a sofa - I wouldn't be asthonished to see some craft with Polka dots...
  4. Francesco Baracca skins

I'm beginning to understand, how the Hobbits could have beaten Sauron...
  5. ...and here is another Flik 41J Albatros. I must admit, that I "borrowed" the emblems from the "Wings Palette" pics; but hey, it's our "Poor Man's Little Italy Campaign".
  6. HPW, I bet they are. Bullethead and Lou may have some knowledge about the FMs. Here comes the finished swirl-camo Albatros now. The other is Oeffag D.III Ba.153 (Serial: 153.12) from Flik 41J. According to "Wings Palette" it was flown by Sabsfeldwebel Kaszala and Hauptmann Brumowski (ca. 1917).
  7. Hey, Bullet - the man has a Phoenix for your hex-camo! Stumpy, that's amazing! What else have you built - Austrian and Ialian - that we skinners could paint skins for?
  8. Here is a first picture of my late OeFFAG Albatros with the swirl camo, which Lou has made so wonderfully.
  9. Francesco Baracca skins

I have just posted two screenies of an Albatros D.III OeFFAG skin I have made for this project. (see Stumpjumper's thread). It can also be uploaded without special markings, for wider use.
  10. Since everyone seems so enthusiastic about the "Italian Front Thing", I have made an Austrian Albatros D.III skin. Of course I cannot make the spinner disappear, as it is part of the 3D model. But apart from that I hope I got the tones of wood and the "natural" fabric (only clear doped; no camo) of the Koloman Mayrhofer replica right. I can offer this skin also without any personal markings and serial number, for wider use the "Italian Front" mod. I will also try my luck with getting the swirl camo right on the D.III fuselage.
  11. Make sure to read about the use of the sea planes - I guess everyone would love to fly those.
  12. Francesco Baracca skins

I should be able to supply your "MOFFia" with some Albatros skins, HH. (The Godwin Brumowski Albatros skin is already in OFF, AFAIK).
  13. Italian missions underway

No knowledge here either. But I just googled for "WW1 air warfare Italy" and got this for a start: http://www.century-o...alian_front.htm http://www.worldwar1.com/itafront/ .
  14. Francesco Baracca skins

Baracca had this black stallion horse emblem on his SPAD. There are of course no skins for him in OFF, as we don't have an Italian front yet. But I bet Lou or Bullethead or Widowmaker could make you one, if you asked them in a friendly Hobbit's way.
  15. Help with Mods

You guys should work together, as the "Little Italy Connection", or the "MOFFia"! :buba:
  16. OT: "-30-"

There, there - come down, iti, come down. This sort of thing happens, when you show your WW1 aviation art works in a forum of WW1 aviation enthusiasts. In an art forum, probably no one would have known the details. But here, or over at "The Aerodrome" it is a different thing. You're not the only artist who must face such dilemma. Even the famous military art painter James Dietz had to. He had painted the also famous Jasta 5 (Green Tails) with their Albatros D.Va on an airfield with a mountain behind them. On the mountain in the painting was a village (maybe even a castle). But Jasta 5 had never been on an airfield with such a mountain nearby. At least not with the Albatros D.V or D.Va. The historians (who mostly also stated that they love James Dietz's works!) criticised this wrong detail. Now I just saw through Dietz's gallery at "The Aerodrome" and found the picture withdrawn. Your emotional reaction reminds me of my own, when I have worked a long time on a new Albatros skin (rather like an artist, not a historian), and then, when I post a picture of it, I receive an answer by elephant, who tells me all the details I have got wrong. First reactions: rising blood pressure, and steam coming out of my ears. It takes me a while to settle and calm down - and then I often change the bits for better correction. We are all always learning - the historians also.
  17. Help with Mods

I thought a fine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo would fit better here. The Italian front is a far dream away, but I'll go to the kitchen now and make me some spaghetti a la Sophia Loren. Hmmmmmm!...
  18. SimQH BLOWS!

Bullet, the whole question about moving forth and back doesn't arise to me at all. I am still here, and I can also go to SimQH - we now just have two places to visit. If I want to upload something for the OFF community, I can do that here, if the other way is too complicated. Where's the problem?
  19. Great picture, JFM! I guess that's Godwin Brumowski?
  20. Worst Skin Ideas Ever

OMG - a demonstration of the effects of Absinth on the human brain! Well, seriously now - these patterns are too regular. I guess, that the Lozenge camouflage was inspired by the Impressionist painters, who put dots or streaks of colourful paints - close to the basic blue, red and yellow - together in an unregular grid. They had found out, that the human eye tends to complete shapes and mixed colours from some distance. But Wiki doesn't mention that - just a guess. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lozenge_camouflage
  21. Inspired by the third Albatros D.Va replica built by THE VINTAGE AVIATOR, I have made another skin. It has the same warm darker varnished plywood, which appears like dark honey, or amber. I also made the cowling and hood the same dark blueish-green, that was used by some Jasta. I hope you like it. Thanks again to OvS, Parmaa, and all other OBD skinners, for your over 3.400 skins, which inspired me to start skinning myself.
  22. Grapes and Glory...

"Macchi" should be pronounced "Mak - kee". But since it's a name, only an Italian could tell us. See the word "macchie" here, and click on the speaker symbol left of it: http://deit.dict.cc/?s=macchie
  23. Well, I bet many here would like to see an Italian front - your skins definitely fire that desire. I guess it is even on the devs list. but further down the list - when the Western Front things are all built. Perhaps we will see Austria vs Italy in a "Phase V". It wouldn't be named anything like OFF or WOFF anymore - as it would expand beyond Flander fields.
