PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: RULES FOR NEW FORUM GAME Today I'll start a tour all over the world, to visit places where OFF Pilots live. And I want to play it like a little game: The OFF Pilots, who recognise their home town from the picture, post here, that they have recognised their town. If you don't want to spread here, which the name of your town is, you could just say: Hi, here's .... and that's my town. I will know, if you are right. As soon as the picture of the place is recognised by it's inhabitant, I will move on to another town. I will not try to show here the most beautiful view of the towns - I'll just pick places I find interesting or I have heard about. I will use Google Street View for this, as far as possible, and hope they won't mind. It's not for making any profit, and should be even a commercial for them. The pictures will get deleted, as soon as someone identified their place - I'd fill up all my attachment space otherwise. Okay, here we go: Whose town is this? And what do we see in the picture? The picture got deleted to make room for new ones - here was: Town One: Newcastle upon Tyne Barras Bridge, near Haymarket; looking at the "Crow's Nest" Pub

Von Richthofen's 66. Victory Claim
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
His 80. claim reads more or less like this: 3 Minutes, after I had shot down the first one burning, I attacked from the same Squadron a 2. Camel. The Opponent let himself fall down, caught himself again, and repeated this Maneuver oftener. In the process I came as near as closest Fighting Distance and shot him with about 50 Rounds afire. The Fuselage burnt away in Midair, the Rest of the Aircraft crashed northeast Viller-Bretonneux. -
Maybe, Sutton Farm produces those problems. Is it close to the front? Was there no writing with the photo, saying, that you had to spend the rest of the war in a POW camp? I have made two or three landings on our fields near the lines, when I was shot up badly, and I received such a message. This can happen, cause the front line changes a lot throughout the war. Next time you get CFS3 config file problems or similar, you should first try the two buttons "Reset OFF Manager" and "Reset CFS3" in "Workshops". You will still loose all your pilots, but it's quicker than a re-install.

For all who wanted to see a German claim, I have translated MvR's 66. claim report. I did not try to make it the perfect English way, but rather to follow the German order of grammatics (as far as possible), to keep the "German touch" of it. The Canadian pilot, who was lucky enough to survive a "meeting" with the "Red Baron", was Lieutenant W. G. Ivamy, 54 Sqdn, RFC. (66. victory) Fighter Squadron 1. 18.3.1918 11.15 h a.m. at the Road Molai - Vaux Andigny, 600 m southwest Molain Sopwith-Camel-1 English; Aircraft-Number: B 5243 Engine: Clerget 35751 Fok.Dr.I.152; red upper wing, red Cowling (Hood), red Wheels and red Tail. 1 Canadian, captured. I started with 30 Aircraft of my Squadron and flew in tight Formation, leading all 3 Staffeln, at 5300 m Altitude towards the Enemy. As we approached the Front, I saw several english Squadrons which were just flying across our Lines, about the direction Le Cateau. The first Squadron that encountered me was at about 5500 m Altitude. I shot (together) with Lt. Gussmann, Jasta.11 the rearmost of the Opponents, a Bristol-Fighter down. He lost the Wings and Lt. Gussmann brought him near Jencourt down. After that I gathered my 30 Aircraft, climbed to 5300 m and followed two Squadrons, that had broken through (all the way) to Le Cateau. When the Opponent(s) attempted to turn away and to get back to the Front, I attacked. The Aircraft flying next to me, apparently a Breguet or Bristol-Fighter, was strafed by me and Lt. Loewenhardt, Jasta.10, after which the Opponent's Tank got shot kaput and I saw, how the Aircraft went down vetically. Lt. Loewenhardt brought it down. Of two english Singleseater-Squadrons I attacked one aircraft with Streamers and forced the Opponent to land near Molain. Witnesses of the Air Combat: see Attachment! What is the #1 feature you would like to see in P4?
Olham replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hey - we still have last year! Next year is only next year!!! -
Yeah, I did look up surveyor (didn't know the word's meaning) and so I slowly got it. And you're right, my English is far from perfect. Every now and then, I mix up "were" and "where", and recently I wrote I wanted to "hugg" someone, when I wanted to say, I wanted to hug him. That can lead to enormous complications. (Isn't the plural of "to hug" really having two "g"?) Once someone wrote something, and I asked: "So what?" Now I know it would be "Na und?" in German - which means something like "as if it mattered!" What I meant to ask is rather: "So, what did you mean to ask exactly?" So, please be patient with me, and tell me when I have expressed something wrong.

Hellshade: I'd ask for Directx 11 support for P4, but I'm afraid of being banned from the forum by the Devs. Don't panik - the devs are not that sensitive, Hellshade. But what the heck is the talking about P5? Have you guys all been on the "Weihnachtsmarkt", drinking "Glühwein"??? -
Chaps - I don't get a sillabel of what you both are talking about????

Such questions may find their best answers over at the "Aerodrome" website. http://www.theaerodrome.com/forum/camouflage-markings/50081-4-vs-5-color-lozenge.html Just type into the search window there: Lozenge - and you will get more about this. As far as I know, both 4-colour and 5-colour were used at the same time. The main reason for Lozenge screen-printed fabric was saving weight - the camo sheme didn't have to get attached with the heavier paint.

Maybe it was shown here before, but better twice than never. Enjoy! http://www.old-pictu...n-index-001.htm There are also historical maps of the time around the Civil War and Great War. Here is a funny one: And here for OvS:

Yep, and that's why I will get me Win 7 only next year, as a 64bit version, when I set up a new rig.

Anyone who's still using Vista deserves to catch a virus....lolol(Just joking of course ;-) Parky Hey, hey, hey! I really thought you were a computer crack, Parky? A friend of mine has set up my system with Vista, and it all runs fine, smooth, perfect. Even Photoshop works very good. And OFF flying is wonderfull, without any catastrophies I occasionally hear from others. Well, I better stop now, or you'll begin to think I was on "Kaiser Bill's" paylist - which I'm not.

OT..What's your favourite Christmas Carol?
Olham replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
A very good one about the harsh reality of sailors, from a great writer! I didn't know it - thank you. Going out on the sea in the days of sailing ships, must have often been similar to flying another sortie in the Great War. That reminds me very much of Sidney Perley's "Historic Storms of New England". I borrowed it to a friend, so I can only recite from memory a small excerpt which contains it all. It's about a ship thrown on the rocks very close to the coast. "The men on the ship saw those on the shore, and those on the shore could only look over to the men on on the ship, and they all knew, how unimportant they really were." Also a very good read about modern fishermen getting lost in the raise of the elements: "The Perfect Storm". Very different to the movie, the book is a great documentary, written in a very good and well readable style. -

Olham replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Sorry to hear that, Wayfarer - I wish you a Merry Christmas despite his death. From where he is looking at you, he wouldn't want to see you unhappy. My dad died 1991 - a bit too young; but we cannot tell when and why. Bagpipes as well ... another favourite of mine, although I understand many people regard that as an aberration! In this film, they do even mix with the opera singer, and the singer with them. Music is the direct expression of emotions, I believe, and how could these bagpipes not express the pride, and the sentiments of their players. -

I think you mean the French film "Joyeux Noel" ("Merry Christmas"), Wayfarer. Here is the Wikipedia link to it: http://en.wikipedia....oyeux_No%C3%ABl And here are two more songs I like a lot: "Oh du Fröhliche" and "Little Drummer Boy". -

Sometimes, when I had one of those fights, were I remained the only pilot from my flight, and where I have peppered several surrounding enemy craft, I open the "Review" to see, what happened in the furball, and how many I really got down. Just for the curiosity. In my claims, I only write down, what I KNOW myself I have downed. The most fascinating thing about the "Review" is, that you can see, how many more action there must have been very close to your own position.

Olham replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Didn't know yours, Widowmaker; I like it; it's feels unpretentious and pure - almost medieval. Von Baur, Dutch and Deutsch isn't the same - the Dutch live in the Netherlands. But far back in time, in the "Holy Roman Empire of German Nations", it was all belonging together, that's true. I only read the story behind "Stille Nacht" some years ago. I remember it was written in Austria by a priest and a teacher, to be performed at Christmas mess for poor and desperate people; accompanied really only by one guitar? Perhaps you can tell the story? Dej, your's is a fine choice too! The title would mean in English: "A Rose has arisen" (more or less). Burning Beard, I know what you mean. Every shopping mall plays them too. I don't know Walmart, UncleAl.
