About 27MM_BK27 (27mm Mauser BK27) ?
FrankD replied to AGOSTINO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Oh, Ok, I'm sorry Gepard, I thought that you were referring to SF2 as I was answering to Amokfloo and his parameters for the BK27 in SF2E. I don't know much about TK's personal evolution, but for SF1, as there are only AmmoWt and WarheadWt parameters, you are absolutely right, the WarheadWt is weight of the projectile, all inclusive. That's one more thing to keep in mind for converting guns from SF1 to SF2. Best regards -
Hello modders, OK, I know taht there's a KB entry about converting texture to dds, but it's about tga files and I read that DXTBmp may generate artefacts when it converts large files, what the high res skins exactly are, so I picked my poison and gone with Nvidia's plugin. I got to work in PSP9 (don't laugh, it took me ages to find the way to point at the plugin folder!) but now that I want to save file, I'm facing a menu that I have no clue of what the options are for. Would you, experienced people, have some advices for me?

Thanks for the extra details Julhelm, I'm gonna check that Compressonator and test the mipmaps levels. -

Thank for giving some volume to my little digression ndicki. Sounds like it's time to dust off my CFS3 CD, thanks for the links! -

FrankD replied to FrankD's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I mean, can one simply set the option to "Use existing MIP maps: 2" anytime or does the MIPMAPS have to be generated first? If so, how to set it for two levels? (I'm crawling in the options and on Google while I read the answers but there are tons of booby traps that I would like to avoid) -

Interesting. Does it also apply for aicrafts' textures Julhelm? If so, what exactly have to do to "use two level of mipmaps"? ("I'm with a noob" T for free on the table right behind you ) -

The K-8E looks like an L-39/59. Egypt have nice Mirage a Alpha Jet though. -

Ouch, sorry Gents, it's Photoshop CS2 (version 9.0.1) that I'm using. I've also PaintShopPro on my drive and I mixed the two names. Thank you FastCargo for the complement of information, it helps a lot. I'm not yet very involved with tga but I'll be soon so it's good to keep in mind, thanks again. -

Thank you Soulfreak, that is already one thing less to bother with. What is that plugin you are using by the way? -

FrankD replied to AGOSTINO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well Gepard, I have a lot of respect for your experience but about that precise bit, if you are right, then the whole default database is wrong. From what I have seen by cross-checking each entries with reliable sources, it is, in common terms, as follow: AmmoWt=Projectile Weight (Kg) WarheadWt="Bursting charge" (Kg) CartridgeWt=Cartridge weight (Kg) (In Kg when editing the ini directly, otherwise in the Gun Editor, it's, as displayed, in grams) -
SF2 Dornier AlphaJet-A
FrankD replied to Florian's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Well, if it still doesn't work, I would recommand you to delete every Alpha Jet related file you installed, redownload the mod and then to install it with cuting and pasting the mod's Objects folder over your mod folder's Objects subfolder. PS: if that sill doesn't work. We can continue by PM, if you would like to, to not flood this thread. And maybe that you could provide some screenshots of your folders? -

Along the two folders that you put in AIcrafts, did you also put the "AlphaJet_Destroyed.LOD" file? -

FrankD replied to Florian's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Put your two folders, "Alphajet and the ecm" along the Alopuette and the Berkut, as they both should be since, in your Objecrs folder, you may have an "Aicraft" folder too. Plus Decals, Pilots and Weapons by the way, but let's start with the Aircraft. Good luck Dsawan -

Thank you JAT81500 @Dsawan, please check that everything goes to the right directory, that there ain't a "ghost" subfolder with the same name than the archive, and so forth. What you have to do to install it is simply to copy the folder named "Objects" and paste it in your modfolder and voila. I've got a merged install too and not a single sign of CTD nor any anoying issue. -

It was a way to say that what ndicki achieved looks to me as beautiful than what one, as me, can have seen in Il-2 Sturmovik, the game. Best regards -
About 27MM_BK27 (27mm Mauser BK27) ?
FrankD replied to AGOSTINO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The datas you guys collected for the gun itself are, as far as I know, corrects but the figures posted for the ammos made me wonder if my eyes were kidding me. So I did my homework and here are the datas from Jane's publications, A G Williams's book "Rapid Fire" and ammo collector website municion.org: AmmoWt=0.26000 WarheadWt=0.027 CartridgeWt=0.516000 The ammo is the 27x145mm DM 21 (HE). The warhead weight is 27g, not 260g, which would be very hard to fill in a "small" such round. Even with a lot of Vaseline! For a comparison, the WW2 famous 3cm Minengeschoß fired by the not least famous Mk 108 canon were filled with, at most, 85g of explosive. The more modern HEI round fired by the A-10's GAU-8 contains 58g of explosive. Best regards -

To have only one Carrier Air Wing at the time
FrankD replied to aizen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Hello Fastergekko, I can't check it right now but, if I remember correctly, there is a parameter in the Terrain's target.ini file how much squadrons can operate from an airfield. I would assume that the carrier you are flying from is set to 1. Maybe try to change that value? Good luck -

FrankD replied to Florian's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Thank you Soulfreak, this is very good to know. To save a file in DDS format with Photoshop CS2, one need that NVIDIA plugin linked below, right? http://developer.nvi...ds_plugins.html By the way, would anyone know the weight of the ventral gun pod and the name of the ECM system? Edit: found that it's an EL-70/73, as on the F-104G PS: is anyone working on a cockpit with an ECM panel and a RWR screen? -

The Portuguese scheme is in the template! :) There's a little somethging I would be glad to know more about gents. What is the benefit, in SF2, of having the skins in dds format instead of bmp? By the way, if you gonna make a Belgian version, if it may help you, I've got the serials and several pics of both schemes, including the (nearly) dozen of special schemes. -

FrankD replied to galoub's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Your connection is not that bad, eventually. Nice work Galoub on a great model, even if it's only a conversion. PS: including the original readme might have been useful as there are details on how to make the bird fly in it. ;)
