  1. I'm thinking of a WOV US navy campaign. I don't know if it's going to be a Rolling Thunder or a Linebacker. I have the A-7 in mind, but there's still F-8, A-4 and of course F-4... _
  2. Ok for me Let's practice! What is Alt+N? Is the point to describe the best pilot of the month or to report the evolution of the pilot/campaign from day to day? (or both?) Cliff
  3. Happy birthday HGBN!

    Happy birthday!!!
  4. I agree with emergency landing, but what if a land near Hanoi? Must I consider myself as a POW? If the rules is : end the mission on a (friendly) runway, what to do in case of emergency landing? Are we gonna be allowed to use time compression? It's forbidden for the OFF guys but they fly 30/45 minutes for one mission. With ThirdWire campaign, it can be much longer, and it will be difficult to fly several missions in order to complete a campaign within a month. We must deal with the campaign setting (length, difficulty, supplies) as well, I guess the length will be normal...
  5. Ok, about avoiding discussion later, I set landing hard and I'm still able to land and take off anywhere on the map... With a jet fighter, that is cheating. But, if we forbid to land and take off from anywhere but runways, what about those who fly Harriers? They should be able to land and take off using a road during a mission if they have to... About the leaderboard, I think it's a cool idea, but I think it won't be fair because we won't fly the same number of missions in the same time and we won't choose the same type of mission. If I choose to fly a F-102, we won't compare my results with a A-10 driver. I still think it's cool and still want it because I don't intend to be on top of it :) All players flying the same campaign could be fun, but if you change the campaign every month, I won't play long, running out of campaign to play. Cliff
  6. Hi :) Well, I have a little problem and I'd like to know your opinion about it. It's about Recon mission. I don't manage to achieve it without getting shot down. I have read a few about real tactics used mostly by USAF or USMC for Reco, knowing that the most dangerous part was the flight over the target, as the plane have to be steady and is exposed to AAA and SAM. In WOE, it's not a big deal and it was OK with such planes as the TF-104 or the RF-4C, both unarmed. Take off, proceding to Waypoint 3, then go down under 100 ft (turn on ECM), taking few altitude above waypoint 5 for taking the shots, then break and full throttle (100 ft) 'till waypoint 7. Mission is over, waypoint 8, approach, landing, great... But, with that Finback-B (you can see it in the screenshot thread) it's impossible to reach waypoint 7. It has power, flares, decoy, ECM, wingman to escort, weapons for defence, but it doesn't work. I really think that the difference is the effectivness of the interceptors (AIM-120, what-if F-106, regular F-4E), but I get shot by a pakistani F-7 fitted with AIM-9P. I tried to run (big failures), I tried to fight (failed, I may practise more...), but the more successfull trial was when I was strolling back, in order to save fuel, with F-23, CF-188, F-4E, F-106G/H awaiting above. So, what do you think about reco mission with a powerfull, enemy aligned plane, during the 2000's years? I could modify the plane a bit further but it's not what I want. I'd like to experiment tactics... There must be a lot of weird things in my english, I do apologize for that :) Thanks for reading, feel free to comment... Cliff Thank you Erwin_Hans for your Finback-B! _
  7. Yes a leaderboard will be cool!
  8. "The Swivel Heads", ok for me :)
  9. Sorry guys, I apologize, that's stupid from me... It was a key problem.
  10. Yes, that was the problem, thank you hgbn I have changed the keys. Ok with hard visual and normal hud.
  11. Then, I have a problem... still no joy! It doesn't really matters seeing the red square or not, it's just about locking the weapons (cgr, eogb, eogr) and more important, tasking n°2. I rather like to disable the game hud and fly with the cockpit gauges and the cockpit hud. My install is 06 patched, is that the problem? (08 patch doesn't work on my pc)
  12. I run a gen1 WOE/V install. It requires Visual targeting and HUD set on normal to have the red square, ASM locked on target and "joy" for n°2. With Visual targeting and HUD on hard, no ASM, no GBU, no joy for n°2, but n°3 and 4 fired GBU and scored... ' Don't know what to think about that...? Poll for the minimum rules will give the answer :)
  13. Hi :) Like everybody, I'm practising a little, training in A2G missions. With visual targeting on hard it's impossible to fire weapons like ASM or smart bombs. The weapon doesn't lock on the target at all... Is that normal? If it's normal, can we change and use the same rule as the OFF DiD? If there's an aircraft, the targeting must be disabled untill the combat is over with no possibility of re-engaging. It should let the possibility to detect ground targets. ...or, ASM and smart bombs won't be used and all A2G must be done with dumb bombs, rockets and guns, with realistic visual targeting, you must find the target yourself. It's doable, even by night. Cliff
  14. Hi :) It seems to me that TA-4J Skyhawk don't have guns. Wrench explain a very simple way of removing parts of the 3D model and I'd like to try it to remove the guns from the current TA-4J model. There's no OUT file in my TA-4J folder. Does somebody know what's the ModelNoseName to use to remove the guns? Thank you Cliff
  15. Hi :) Thanks all of you! I did copy the TA-4J_data.ini to get the guns back by renaming the data.ini _
  16. :D Sorry, I was meaning ModelNodeName and not nose... Thank you
  17. Hi Lt.! Man, are you training to become an astronaut? When somebody will release the Space Shuttle, you'll be ready... Very impressive! When I was practising to low down my flight level, you were raising up your. I really want to try it, I think I'll be back soon in the MiG cockpit :) PACMAN, if you have new screenies and more action reports, don't hesitate. It's a real pleasure to read your posts guys, thanks! Cliff
  18. "Maybe if we all pick a sim and campaign that we all agree on but everyone has to pick a different country or squadron to fly for?" I think it could be immersive that each player chooses his air force, and then defines his squadron assignation by rollin' the dice. Cliff
  19. :) Hey PACMAN, you're not supposed to take out opponent fighters! ...unless it's a matter of survival Thank you for your post, it's good to see the Jaguar into action. Except for the MiG-25 kill, your mission is quiet a good basis for a recce routine and you've completed it. Well done! Screenies from the inside should be fun too.
  20. Hi, It'd be great to release the Etendard IVP. Thanks Bobrock, we'll wait for your birds with high interest! Cliff
  21. Hi guys, I like the OFF DID group idea. If you create a DID group for Thirdwire, I'd like to join you if I'm able to. As you said, it's great to hear about other peoples experiences. The fact is there's many different sims with gen 1 and 2. Does it matters? Cliff
  22. Hey Lt. you did it! Can you give more details? I'd really like to know... How high did you fly? Did you take roundabout routes? Military power or afterburner? When? What about fuel consumption? Did you take a screenshot? :) PACMAN, I'll wait :) I think that screenshots are quiet relevant in a recce thread...
  23. I've changed something about the weapons stations in the data.ini The "pontoons trick" does interfere with the loadout. [Pontoons] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION StationID=1 -->StationID=5 StationGroupID=1 -->StationGroupID=3 StationType=INTERNAL BombBayAnimationID=8 BombBayOpenTime=2.0 BombBayCloseTime=2.0 And I've changed the "NGun1" entry to "NGun". Very pleasant to fly, I like it!
  24. Salut Higgins! Si ça t'embêtes pas trop, je me méle de ce qui ne me regarde pas et je fais une petite trado, même si je suis pas spécialement anglophone :) Higgins : "Good day, Very good model... I think that the gauge n°4 is a fuel gauge for the nourrice (main fuel tank). Sorry to reply in french, but I don't speak english enough to write it. Kind regards, Didier." Voilà :) Qu'est-ce qu'on f'rai pas pour un Etendard IV!
  25. Well done! Thank you Veltro
