Early days with Mission Builder...
Hauksbee replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well then...knowing that, I'll just have to be especially careful what I spec. on the first go-around. I'll start simple, and see what I see. What kind of code does Mission Builder generate? Is it an object-oriented language that allows blocks of code to be cut and pasted from other missions? And thanks again for the CD. I'll be watching the mail. (...and can you show me a sample block of code to disable Spawns?) -

OlPaint: I received, and installed the CFS3 Mission SDK. But when I open the file folder, there's no .exe file. Just Documentation, which is the same as your earlier attachment. -
Smoked Bluefish is a great favorite on the South Coast of Massachusetts.

It should be noted that Bullethead praises the flavor in the peppers, not the meat. I suspect the 'scorched taste buds' theory still stands.

You just know this is going to be a juicy, tell-all book. -

Bloody Hell! There's two of you down! Is OFF using live ammo? -
Is it just possible that years of imbibing Louisanna Flame Sauce has scorched your taste buds?

About a week ago, I tried a bit of Quick Combat. I chose my country, my plane(s), my opponents, et al, and clicked "Go to the Field". It brought up an error message (which I can't quote today) but it was serious and ended with "Re-install OFF". So I did, and re-installed Hat In The Ring. At first things seemed OK except I had no tracer and ran out of ammo even though I had 'Unlimited Ammo' checked in the Workshop. Both of these seem to have corrected themselves, but, day before yesterday, I got too low, brushed a wingtip, and died. OFF immediately told me that my currently active pilot is now dead and will be removed from the rolls. That has never happened before. Today, QC simply won't let me in. When I click Quick Combat, OFF thinks for a minute and then gives me the following message saying that "Aircraft Se5a_QC1 not available yet, therefore you cannot continue with this squadron..." What's with that? I had to buy a new Hat In The Ring for the re-install. Has it been modified since my initial purchase?

Thanks OlPaint, I am printing out the .pdf as I write. It's pretty arcane looking stuff. I'll dig into this a bit, but computer code numbs my eyeballs. I guess the upshot of all this is that when I Save and close out of Mission Builder, I'll never be able to get back the its UI again to make changes? -
Will do.

In my experience, it does. I've had frog legs, rattlesnake and alligator. All white meat critters. All very much like chicken.

OK...first off, my first YouTube post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cgqnjh3tvdY&feature=youtu.be . I think that should get you to the video. I downloaded the "XML NotePad 2007". and dropped the shortcut into the Missions Folder. Actually, I put a copy into eash country's folder. Here's what I get when I drop a mission on the shortcut. 'Same as I got when I just 2x clicked on any one mission. I was hoping for something closer to the original interface. Have I gone awry? -
I went to the OFF Website looking for patches (it's been a long time since I was there) and couldn't find any downloads. Reading closer, the text kept saying, "All you need is CFS3, OFF and HITR". I guess I gave up too early. In any event, re-setting OFF seems to have cured the problem just fine.
-
Olham: I have no patches installed. Just got back from checking the OFF Website. At the moment, they're saying that all we need is OFF and HITR. I see no patches offered for download. Aha! Just did the 'Reset OFF Manager' and 'Reset CFS3'. I had remembered them as being down at the bottom of Workshops where CFS3-QC is. 'Took a bit to find them. But that seems to have done the trick.

Semi-OT: Dogfight Video Bf 109 vs Spifire
Hauksbee replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Looks like "Cliffs of Dover"? I have it but it plays with Day-Glo orange and green highlights in chrome instruments, prop spinners, et al. Very immersion busting. So much so that I think I've only opened it two or three times. And that briefly. -

It's a screen cap. using FRAPS. I then uploaded to the Gallery, and linked to the thread page via the method Dave just explained. (See "No More Holes in Screen Caps" Sticky) It plays OK (just barely) for me, but it takes a while for the buffering to be complete. I just keep teasing it along by pressing the Play button. This was launched from 'Quick Scenarios', just as you had suggested. And another question: How can I re-open the mission in the UI to make changes. If I 2x click the file name in CFSWWI/Missions, all I see is computer code. If I re-launch Mission Builder from CFS3, there's no File>Open tab. Only 'New Mission', Launch Mission and Save -
Nope. No mods. And now AROTH reports the same. I did not un-install OFF, just wrote over it. Could that be an issue?

Early days with Mission Builder...
Hauksbee replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Seeing as the mission I built involves flying from Dover to Calais, I fully expected it to start on the ground. This is what I got. This is the mission in its entirety. Note that I'm sitting backward in the cockpit. Quick mission, wouldn't you say? http://combatace.com...alais-clean-up/ -
How much of the front must one squadron patrol?
Hauksbee posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I realize that this is a question that can only be answered in a vague manner since one squadron could patrol a large, if dormant, section of the front, while several might be massed to meet an offensive. The reason I raise the question is that I, the quintessential QC pilot, am feeling the itch to follow you lads into some campaign missions. To this end, I have enlisted Jasper Maltby in the 2nd AFC at Auchel because of its proximity to three major French rivers and the ocean. All good landmarks if I get lost. (plus being some really great scenery) In addition, I bought a Michelin road map and intend to razor out a section that covers what I'm about to fly so I have a paper map at my elbow. (I am hoping that the prop wash does not blow it out of the cockpit and into the kitchen.) Thus my question: "How much map might I need to cover my mission area? If I can guage the approximate area that my squadron will be responsible for, I want to recce the area so I can, hopefully, navigate by sight.. All surmises welcome. -

After my first experience with Mission Builder, here's their picture of the front with airfields in white.Exactly how much of the front is your responsibility is something of a moot point. -

Oooops! 'Found it. I just had to have the right drop-down menu displayed. A few minutes later: First mission designed and saved in the CFSWWI folder of My Docs. I went to OFF Campaigns, but can't see how to select this mission. (Fly from Dover to Calais. Scout/shoot up German AV7 tanks, return over Channel looking for ship formation, land back at Dover) -

Welcome to our world, Melissa. It's going to an exciting ride! And remember, Creaghorn, daughters are God's way of punishing daddies for their wicked, lustful youth. (that's from Tom Clancy!)
