  1. OK...time for an update, oh tranquil one. You are doing well? Nurse Gladys is working her magic?
  2. After the Great Meltdown and OFF's shift to SimHQ, I thought, "Great". Now I have two WWI sites to visit with morning coffee". However; as time goes by, I find that, more and more, I am gravitating back to Combat Ace, and SimHQ gets a cursory glance to see if anything of an unusual nature is going on. As it turns out, the really interesting postings are also posted here. ('talk about old horses returning to the barn!) How do you guys feel?
  3. Well, can't be more than a week and half now.
  4. AI Planes Crashing with HPW EW Mods

Just wondering...do they crash and burn as real planes would, or just merge into/through the hillside, as 3D objects will?
  5. Gravitating back to CA...

    Silly or not, I agree.
  6. I hope I'm recalling correctly here, but nearly half the pilots who died in the Camel, died in training accidents.
  7. Thanks guys. Good info there. I'll print it out and keep it with my maps.
  8. Gravitating back to CA...

Yup. Two weeks it is. (Would our Devs lie to us?) If you're unauthorized to read a message, you may not be logged in at the moment.
  9. True, but the Dr.I and the E.V were production problems that were soon cured. I did, however, forget about the Albatros lower wing issues.
  10. Jaysus! And there I was thinking (hoping) that you were just in to have some nasty warts removed. Take it easy. (very easy) Heal well. Obey Nurse Gladys in all things.
  11. It would be interesting to have a chart that listed every WWI fighter and told us two things: (1) How many enemy aircraft it destroyed, and (2) how many pilots were killed in accidents with it. I suspect the Sopwith Camel would be at the top of the list, but the DH-2 would be right up there. It seems that the planes with the most vicious handling characteristics were all on the Allied side. I recall reading (at this Forum, once upon a day) that the Pfaltz E.III was murderous to fly. So much so, that the pilots regarded the Fokker E.III a great step up. But after those early days, I can't think of any German planes that earned a reputation for killing their pilots.
  12. OT--Prometheus

    (1) Well, hardly her fault. One cannot say that Lisbeth Salander was an outgoing, or chatty, person. An actor has to deal with the script she's given. (2) Hmmm. I'd say "beautifully flat-chested", but then I get passionate about little, firn, apple bosoms. (Somebody has to do it.) (3) What "loose ends" were there in the first 'Alien", and how were they resolved in "Prometheus"? This 'loose ends' business went right over my head. (4) I think I may adopt your pre-movie method. It will save me much chagrin. The problem with movies ( as one gets older) is that you begin to see plot-lines re-cycled over and over. Things happen that defy Newtonian physics because a scriptwriter says so. And...so much of the 'summer blockbuster' fare is pitched to the 14-23 yr. old crowd who don't know any better. Case in point: Shaw/Rapace's boyfriend apparently got impreganted (implanted?) with an alien foetus (?) fertile egg(?) and passes it to her sexually. Not bloody likely. That requires a profound ignorance of basic biology.
  13. OT--Prometheus

Indeed? I must check it out.
  14. Prometheus

Thanks, Fates. This article pretty much sums it up. Stary: (But why that squid thing? makes no sense) Right on the money, mate8!
  15. OT--Prometheus

I really wanted to, especially to see what Noomi Rapace would do in her first post-Dragon Tattoo role. The character they gave her didn't have much depth, just action-film heroics. On the whole, I was disappointed, but will see the sequel when it arrives. ('think I'll check the Pub and see what's going there.)
  16. OT--Prometheus

I agree; the trailers were great. But the studio told us (in advance notices) that this was not going to be "Aliens 5". It would (1) take the Aliens franchise is a completely different direction, while (2) tying up some loose ends as to what we saw in the other four films. In my opinion, the "completely different direction" simply was not all that compelling, and the "loose ends", whatever they might be, were lost as they introduced new creatures, similar to, but still quite different from what we met in the first "Alien". Are these the forerunners of the 'facehugger'? Who knows? And we may never have these questions answered because the next film (and the ending fairly cries out for a sequel) will not be happening on LV-426.
  17. OT--Prometheus

"Prometheus": a very stylish looking film, but a confused mess of a story. And...a complete waste of Noomi Rapace.
  18. Hoch unser Olham! Drimal Hoch!
  19. My Home is my Castle

Ha! 'Been reading our Dr. Johnson, I see.
  20. I guess you're right, Simon. And...I thought he'd be faster, too.
  21. How Did You Find OFF?

...or, you could just follow the tracer.
  22. My Home is my Castle

There and I thought the French and British pilots had it good living in French chateaus! What squadron do you fly with? I'm transfering .
  23. How Did You Find OFF?

I was stuck playing CFS:European Theatre. I never cared for CFS2, and CFS3 was an eviserated version of CFS1. I had bought one of just about every WWI Flight Sim, but none of them satisfied. The graphics were just a bit better than PacMan, and, in those pre-TrackIR days, the planes just zipped past so fast, I could never find them again. One day I got an e-mail from the Devs (with lots of pictures) that asked: "If you could get a WWI Flight Sim that looks like this, would you buy it?" I checked the "Yes" radio button and promptly forgot all about it. Little did I know, they were testing the waters for P3. Then one day, there was a second e-mail saying that P3 was ready. I bought it, and WWI is all I fly today.
  24. Absolutely amazing! It is actually possible to shoot Hellshade down. After watching his videos for the last few years here, I was convinced (mostly) that he is/was immortal. 'Love the first video. When the camera POV is in the cockpit, it's like writing in the first person; the pilot's voice adds depth to the encounter (even if it's stream-of-consciousness, and not directed to the viewer). Throw a little music behind all that, and you're Hollywood bound.
  25. My Home is my Castle

Aha! You must have one too?
