OT: 2012 Is The Year I Do It
Hauksbee replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I'm impressed. (And you look smashing in that uniform. That is you, isn't it?) -

Just a silly bloody 'Yank' here, but is "wheels up", the same as "tits up"? -

"Dodgey", I get; but what are "minces"? -
"Disposable" Pilot names that you use

While virtually all of my flying is QC, I have essayed a few campaigns. (on the German side) On those occasions, I have flown as Captain Hyazinth von Strachwitz II. (a real, WWI historical character, albeit a cavalry officer and said to be intelligent, aggressive and possesed of movie-star good looks. Just prior to the Battle of the Marne, his unit was probing in advance of the main body. It is claimed that his regiment was the only one to ever see Paris on the horizon.) Rather than lose forever such a pilot, I made good my loses by re-enlisting him as "von Strachwitz III. i think there was also a 'von Strachwitz IV. HumanDrone: Yes, the white feather was a sign of cowardice. I googled it once. The story goes that some game bird has white feathers that are only seen when it's flying away from you. But nobody was quite sure which bird it is. During WWI, the white feather was used to great effect. Women would keep several with them when they left the house. They'd pounce on healthy-looking males on the street and badger them for not being in uniform. Groups of women would make a day of it lurking around Men's Rooms and ridiculing the men as they came out. There are accounts of men, who were refused by the selection boards, driven to suicide by the white feather campaigns. -
Olham. I never, even for a moment, thought you were making a nasty crack. I know you better than that. And your critique was right on the money. The planes are not a screenie from another sim. I built them in Animation Master. About the time when P3 was released, I was renewing my love of WWI aircraft. I had built the two above, A Fokker D.VIII, and a Hansa-Brandenburg W-12.
-
Right you are. I knew there was one more thing I was overlooking. You have to remember that I was very young and inexperienced when I made those planes...'way back before I started hanging out with you lot.

I'd have to say that the DH-2's un-flyability is matched only by the E.III. When P3 was announced (and I bought it) I was doing a lot of 3D modeling on the computer. I had just finished building a DH-2 and an Albatros D.V and was rendering out some pics of the Hawker/von Richtofen duel. I was really stoked when P3 arrived because now I could fly a real DH-2. Of course I stalled it. Then stalled again. And again. (coming fram a Spitfire/Focke-Wulf background, I nearly threw in the towel on P3) Anyway, I never tried the DH-2 again. 'Took a while to find where I had stashed the pics, but finally found them. Here's two. Looking back, I should have modeled a D.II, (DIII?) and the Iron Cross needs work.

I'm running Malwarebytes and Spybot over AVG. So far, so good.

How will you fly OFF 2 when you first get it?

I've always been a Quick Combat flier. That probably won't change. -

You're a fine Jasta Commander, Olham. Boelke would be proud. -

Rumor has it that it was shot and eaten by Capt. Edmund Blackadder. -
Adams at his best: "I love deadlines. I love the 'whooshing' sound they make as they go past.(I'll also bet the Devs know this. But 'Wot th' hell...', it's only two weeks.)

I hope you weren't really expecting sympathy from this lot, were you Simon? (C'mon. 'Fess up. You were, weren't you?)

I guess this cinches it! Two more weeks...at the most. -
Your edit has it right, Tamper...at least, as I understand the concept. The 'tab' makes the controls lighter, requires less muscle from the pilot.

With a cast of characters like this, who can say 'No'? Unfortunately, Netflix isn't carrying this title.

OT--MvR in Steampunk Animation
Hauksbee replied to Bullethead's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
If it does well at the box office, you can bet it will be a game. For my money, it's good looking animation and I'm sold. (...'be nice if they included a release date, other than simply 2012.) -
Ah, those ancient golden days of computing when an extra 2Mb of RAM was the end of the rainbow.

First carrier sea trials with no arresting hooks. The blurb as follows: This videolink is fresh (for the public). It was made just six weeks ago in the Atlantic, just off Newport News (HamptonRoads), Virginia. These are the latest sea trials of the F-35B on the USS Wasp. They were very successful, with74 VL's and STO's in a three week period. The media and the program critics had predicted that we would burn holes in the deck and washsailors overboard. Neither of which happened. You will notice a sailor standing on the bow of the ship as the jet rotates. That was an intentional part of the sea trials. No catapult... No hook.... It’s a new world out there! The shape and scope of warfare – worldwide – just changed. F-35B SORRY. THIS GOT POSTED TWICE.

I thought the Brits invented it, then sold it to the U.S because it worked so well.

Damn! New P2 pics. The tension is palpable. There's an electric crackle in the air.
