6 Bullets left? No problem!

A nice bit of work. You're nothing if not persistant. -
Thinking of Buying Over Flanders Field

I'll second that. -
Hellshade's Air Combat Video thread
Hauksbee replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Second film is also a very good one. Somewhere near the middle of the fight, when you dove on an Albatros, it looked like you were about to climb in the cockpit with the guy. -
Like Tamper, the innards of computers and their workings are not my strong suit, but I know that in the case of Vista, it takes a half a Gb of RAM just to bring up the desktop. Add to that the overhead of runnng two processors, plus whatever is running n the background...and there are probably a few apps., or utilities, that launch on start-up.It adds up. Not long ago, here on the Forum, there was a thread that mentioned a utility that would look at what's running and shut down everything except a single, chosen app. In this case, that would be OFF.

The Albatros: soon to be an endangered species. [nice double kill there at the end!] -
Well done, indeed.

Is this the new Forum format? This will take some serious getting used to...

20 SE5a vs 20 Fokker DVII video clip
Hauksbee replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
That's some fine twisting and turning. I'd hate to find you on my six. -
Very nice. Thank you very much!

Like a hospital corridor. And...jets on the masthead? (I'm sure help is on the way.)
-
Let's ignore that possibility and hope upon hope that you are right. (lol) Aha! Just saw Fates post. (The only thing more incendiary than Health Care Reform is Forum re-design!)

A bombing raid on our neighbouring field
Hauksbee replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
That's a very handsome new skin on the Albatros. -
That's the Stearman, or PT-17, or Great Lakes Trainer. The latter name from the Great Lakes Naval Air Station where, (I think I'm right about this) the plane was first deployed prior to WWII. (...also, I married the grand-neice of the designer)
-
No. The designation 'PT' was for Primary Trainer. This was the plane you soloed in. Then off to the Advanced Trainer, the North American AT-6.

Thinking of Buying Over Flanders Field
Hauksbee replied to outfctrl's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
So did I!. For a good buddy left behind in California when I moved back east. Now we talk on Teamspeak and fly on-line. -
Probably a Stearman biplane. Also called PT-17, or, the Great Lakes trainer. Looks much like the PT-6 shown.

Sure we noticed. The silence is because we don't want to break the spell. Great news.

How to get to 17 hours without really trying...?
Hauksbee replied to Ben C's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Did this really happen? -
US Marines attack flying eagles !

Here's a few more that I've gleaned... -
Yes, you can. You can mount anything your plane can lift. A friend in California who did 3D CG recreations for courtroom forensics often had cases where he had to re-create what a vehicle did on a long stretch of road. This always involved hiring a pilot and an aerial photographer. George would then build the CG vehicle and superimpose it on the aerial footage. [The lawyer prosecuting the case has to be able to afford the plane.] George settled on a model helicopter that he could watch on a laptop. The chopper looked like the old Bell, Korean War model we all saw on M*A*S*H. The cockpit bubble was a little bigger than your head. After lifting off, George flew the whle mission [?] by watching the laptop screen...until the last moments before landing. On the demo he did for me, he repeatedly flew it out of sight, or behind things. I'm amazed that news people don't use small RPV's for covering stories.

Belly up to the bar boys!

At Last! We've settled the Roy Brown/Aussie MG gunner dispute. -
Went to Make a Quick Video Of the Cannon Noises
Hauksbee replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
That has got to be one of the best 'twist and turn' dogfights I've seen in OFF. I really thought an E.III would be dogmeat against a Nieuport. Too bad he wasn't visible when he went down. Well done! -
Avoiding the AA (archie)(hate)(AAA) ugly black clouds that hurt
Hauksbee replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
True, but the trick in Dodgeball [or wrenches] is to see it coming. When you see 'Archie', it's too late. -
Stahlgewitter - Thunder of Steel
Hauksbee replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yeah, that's pretty grim. -
At first I thought so too, but after pushing the Scenery Detail, and Cloud Resolution, sliders all the way up [in Workshops] the OFF world is every bit as rich...and the PC system you describe won't even have to breath hard to do it.
