Why is the QC Archie trying to kill ME?
Hauksbee replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
No, I'm not using CFS3 QC Option. -
This all begs the question: did they actually use the Aldis, or just quietly do a field modification and remove it?

Why is the QC Archie trying to kill ME?
Hauksbee replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
If I take your meaning right...then, yes. And I now have the AA set to 'Least Effective". When I started this thread, it was on the middle setting. I was just wondering why, if I'm over friendly territory, the AI has me targeted? -
Do we have an Artificial Horizon in OFF?
Hauksbee replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I was just about to ask the same. Must be an 'Albatros thing'. (LOL) -
Yet another thing designed by a person who never had to use it.

When I log onto the Forum, there are all the names of those currently reading and posting. The names are in all different colors. Does this have any significance?

Me too! Just can't get away from Jacko these days.

OFF mp current state
Hauksbee replied to Broadside uda Barn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I hear that! I did my first 'real' MP session [as opposed to Set-Up excercises] last night. It was raining on me in Massachusetts, and it was raining on me in France! Try staying with a gaggle of white Nieuports thru white clouds! Wind forces blowing me off course. Full rudder control [which I turn off in QC] so my Nieup. is all over the sky because I'm accidently twisting the stick as I bank, Got lost. Found my way. Got lost again. TrackIR panning all over the sky because I'm still turning my head when I should be just moving my eyes. Crashed. Got re-spawned back as the rear gunner on a Brisfit. All-in-all, a right bloody mess. 'Can't wait to get back. ps: ...and flammed my first Zeppelin. -
I run TrackIR 5.0. It will work, but it is beta.

My Latest creation... a DR1
Hauksbee replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hmmmm....hate to be the grumpy olde fart, here, but to my eye, the dark blue and maroon squares don't read too well. In grey scale, they'd blur together. I like the basic concept, but what about making one color much lighter, and the squares bigger overall so they'll read at a distance? -
OFF mp current state

I'm running Vista 64 with 8 Gb RAM. If you upgrade to Vista 64, it will see those other 3 Gb. Are they hard to fly? Yes. Because they were in 1916. No glory without the grief. You'll get used to it. As I mentioned in another thread recently, I spent the first coupl'a weeks "stalling and falling". Start with the SE-5 and/or the Fokker D.VII; they're probably the most stable, most forgiving planes. Then add on others from there. One day, you'll suddenly realize you're actually keeping a E.III under control...and doing turns, yet! -
He fielded a question from me a few days ago.
-
It's a shock for everyone who's used to flying WWII, or better. For the first two weeks after my OFF arrived, the SE-5 was the only plane I could keep in the air. The rest were just 'stalling and falling'. As for the Eindecker, Frank Tallman, one of the Hollywood stunt flying legends, once had a chance to fly a replica E.III, and he pronounced it to be the most dangerous, vicious flying machine he had ever experienced. He said that any lapse of total concentration on the controls resulted in the airplane trying to 'swap ends'.

A labor of love, no doubt! I'll be looking forward to this.

Fokker D7 on the top of this webpage

A sentiment not shared by the pilot of that SPAD! ps: Your view from 'the office' would make a dynamite cover for the Phase 4 OFF DVD. -
'Sounds like a plan to me.

Pilots jumping out of SPAD XIII ?
Hauksbee replied to Bandy's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Especially since it doesn't happen all that often. Surprises you as much as the enemy pilot! -
Pilots jumping out of SPAD XIII ?
Hauksbee replied to Bandy's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes, and wait until the moment comes when you find yourself within wrench-throwing range, you fire a burst and hear the pilot cry out and the plane starts down. -
To get some SPAD practice, I enlisted A. Billy Yank in the 94th Aero. After an unpleasent day of getting my butt handed to me by three Pfaltz's, [yesterday], I decided to play with a Nieuport 16 this morning. [still in the 94th] When I click "Go To Field" I get the following screens. First one says, 'This is not a OFF authorized plane...etc.,' and when I click the 'Done', I get the second screen saying that it's loading QC...and nothing happens. If I click inside the message: nothing. If I click outside, it goes away, and I'm left with a black screen...and a red-circle-with-diagonal-slash-cursor. No Start button or tool bar at the bottom of the screen. There's no way make anything happen on the screen. So I did a CTRL>ALT>DELETE and brought up the Task Manager, OFF was not in the list. [it was the only app. running anyway.] Open apps. are always in the list, and will say, 'Running', or, 'Not Running'. However; since I normally run two monitors, when I mouse over to the secondary screen [on the right side], I get my white arrow cursor back. And given the screen resolution, a small bit of the OFF screen always displays on the right. If I click the very bottom of the OFF screen, suddenly I can see the Start, and tool bar on the left screen. I can open other programs, copy/paste, etc.,...everything seems to be working, except OFF. If I try to launch a second instance of OFF, it refuses, saying that an instance is already running. The only way to close OFF seems to be doing a restart. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
-
By 'alternate', I assume you mean non-OBD? No. Only patches downloaded from their site. Whatever the problem is, the Task Manager does not even see OFF, let alone allowing the TM to close it. [i am, by the way, using Vista 64]

Flyboys 'Dueling' pack coming soon!

If I play the game, can I use the revolver? -
Dug a hole and buried them.

Then...does this mean that Pol is the Walrus?

Nice entry, SirMike. A good condensed primer on B/Z fighters. Crib notes for the cockpit!

I bought TrackIR 4, and downloaded the software for v 5. I finally took the time to fine-tune it last week. As part of that, I absentmindedly checked the Run-On-Start-Up box. Now I want to tweak my Profile and I can't get to the UI. If I click on the icon, I get a message saying "Another Instance Of TrackIR Is Already Running". I went into my Programs folder hoping to launch another instance from the .exe icon. No go. Any thoughts on how to get in, without uninstalling TrackIR and then re-installing?
