  1. A day in the life of a pilot in the 94th Aero Squadron

A man called Luther should feel right at home in a Prussian Jasta.
  2. Welcome! For a British career, you can't go wrong with No. 56 or No. 60 Squadron. They are both elite squadrons, which helps a lot with your survivability, and if you start your career in 1917 or 1918, they will be flying the SE.5a, one of the best fighter aircraft of the war. Easy to fly with good visibility, and faster than anything the Germans have. I think 1917 is a better year to start, because in 1918 things can be a bit too hectic and dangerous for a beginner. Oh, and remember to visit the official OFF forum at SimHQ for the latest news from the developers: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/89/1/Over_Flanders_Fields.html
  3. Did somebody mention "Bowmore" here?
  4. HPW FM 2.0 is now available!

Wasn't the N.16 somewhat of a failure in real life too? The engine was too heavy for the N.11 airframe.
  5. HPW FM 2.0 is now available!

The Pfalz is a proper fighter now with the mod, give it a try! I hope the bizarre stalling behaviour will be fixed in WOFF without any mods.
  6. HPW FM 2.0 is now available!

Installing mods is more of a type of magic than science, it seems. Sometimes things work without problems, sometimes they don't!
  7. HPW FM 2.0 is now available!

Will you release an updated FM pack with the N.16 fix included, HPW? I'm sure there are people who will otherwise miss the fix posted in this thread.
  8. You should see the uniform and the black boots we were given.
  9. Being active on two forums is definitely doable.
  10. I think Lou just had a so-called 1984 moment.
  11. Thanks. Business as usual, gents.
  12. Evolution

I remember that one. It was a great sim for its time.
  13. Evolution

Well, not necessarily, if by Eindecker you mean the Fokker E.V.
  14. HPW FM 2.0 is now available!

Oh, it will still stall, just not so suddenly and strangely as the vanilla version. I stalled my "canary bird" twice at low speed when I tested the new FM mod a while ago. OlPaint: OK, I'll keep an eye on the skins. Hopefully they'll work as they should.
  15. Evolution

Good post. Yes, we've definitely come a long way since those days. A couple of years ago I installed the original Red Baron (1990) on Dosbox. That sim was a mind-blowing experience twenty years ago, but now it really showed its age. It's amazing just how much things have changed in that time.
  16. HPW FM 2.0 is now available!

There are good instructions, I'm just asking for some additional clarifications. Recognize the skin, Olham?
  17. Who IS Uncleal?

Now it's all up to Uncle Al. If he can stay out of all the political stuff and other crap, there should be no need for bans.
  18. HPW FM 2.0 is now available!

OK, I took my Pfalz for a free flight mission, and instantly noticed how the awful stalling behaviour wasn't there anymore! Now the Pfalz feels like a true fighter plane! This alone makes me recommend the mod. Good job, HPW! I do have a question about the ace skin issue in campaign mode: when I activate one of your FM mods, should I do the restart thing separately for each of my pilots, or is it enough to do it only once for one of them, and then the skins will work for everybody? Must the process be repeated each time I activate one of the FM mods, for example when getting a new SPAD model? (Okay, that was actually two questions!)
  19. HPW FM 2.0 is now available!

Thanks, I'll try this one soon.
  20. Calling Uncleal

Captain Sopwith, it isn't that hard to spot Uncle Al. He was posting here quite recently (before the outage) using his latest alias. Do some detective work, and I'm sure you'll figure it out.
  21. Olham (and others), that headquarter was the nerve centre of the German military and political leadership during the Great War. You could find all the big bosses from there, even the Kaiser himself. Generalleutnant Hoeppner was pretty insignificant among all those high ranking generals, admirals and ministers of the Kaiserreich, most of whom didn't understand anything about aviation. He never got the resources his Fliegertruppen would have needed to do their job better. I'd rather think of the SimHQ forum as St. Omer, which is much closer to us mere mortals than the Großes Hauptquartier.
  22. Horrah!

Finally! This is my home in the wonderful world of the Internet.
  23. Setting Up a Blip Switch in OFF

That's great news! I hope it can be made to work. Having it included would be so much better than any trick to simulate the effect.
  24. Pfalz D.III - Much Maligned?

If there's anything that I've learned during all these years spent here, it's that two weeks can be a VERY relative concept.
  25. Pfalz D.III - Much Maligned?

HPW, did you recently release a new FM pack? I may have missed it completely. The Pfalz improvements sound good to me. I don't want the Pfalz to become a super fighter, but everything I've read about the aircraft suggests that it was in some ways even better than the Alb (especially climbing and diving), and that it shouldn't behave as badly as it does in OFF P3.
