  1. Very interesting! High tech of the early 20th century.
  2. Albatross D.VII

I'd say the Pfalz D.IIIa is just as beautiful in its construction as the Roland and the Alb.
  3. Albatross D.VII

Albatros seems to have been unable to develop any new decent fighters after the D.V / D.Va. However, they continued to design and manufacture excellent two-seater until the end of the war. Maybe we'll see some of these in OFF2?
  4. OFF2 DEVELOPMENT Screenshots

Love the landscapes! Just give me a couple of months to get myself a new PC and then you can release.
  5. These are great. I wish I had the whole series on paper. I love old maps.
  6. I've read that article before. It's wonderful that such an old engine has been preserved for so long in relatively good condition.
  7. We Can Fly

That depends on where you are living, Lou. Here you need to have a license also for ultralight aircraft, so there's definitely red tape involved. It's much easier to get than a private pilot licence, but still.
  8. Request for MF.11 revisions

I'm sure they'll be releasing expansion packs that contain new aircraft, after OFF2 is ready. I'd actually love to see something like the MF.11 in OFF one day. Maybe a special two-seater expansion pack? It should interest everybody, even people who never fly them, because they'd receive more targets to shoot down.
  9. That's the spirit, Pol! Now while you're at it, maybe take a look at the Pfalz D.IIIa too?
  10. OFF 2 Fighting Fund

Maybe try Kickstarter for future OFF development? www.kickstarter.com
  11. Is P4 getting a sound overhaul?

Yes, it's not like the last flight sim we all played was Red Baron 1 back in 1990, and then we discovered OFF P3 almost two decades later and felt like we had died and gone to flight sim heaven. I have RoF (and Cliffs of Dover, but it's not a WW1 sim) and while I really like it, it's seriously lacking in the single player department. That's what OFF does best. Could the engine sounds in OFF be better? Absolutely. Are they awful? No, not even close.
  12. Is P4 getting a sound overhaul?

We'll just have to have faith in the devs' ability to improve things for OFF2. P3 is far from perfect, but as a whole, it's still the best WW1 sim I've played. I don't have to wear any rose-coloured glasses to say that. Criticism is fine, but it really helps to be polite and constructive about it.
  13. The Camel was no high altitude fighter. It was at its best at lower altitudes.
  14. The Pfalz can be seen in the first pic too. What a shame so few colour photos were taken in those days! They would look so much better.
  15. I've been thinking the same thing, Olham (as you know). The Albatros D.III (and the later models) actually feels worse to fly than the D.II. Historically speaking, the D.III should be the best of the Albs compared to the Entente aircraft it faced in early 1917.
  16. Zeppelin

The Zeps, Gothas and all the other bombers did succeed in forcing the British to invest heavily into home defense units. All those aircraft, AA guns, machine guns, and the personnel operating and maintaining them could have been used elsewhere against the Central Powers. This benefited Germany, but not very much in the end. And the damage done to cities, shipping, industry and civilian population was very limited, especially compared to the strategic bombings of WW2, which caused massive destruction and had a serious impact on the war efforts of countries like Germany and Japan.
  17. Zeppelin

Should this man really be given a Zeppelin? I have reason to believe he will try to shoot it down, given the opportunity.
  18. "Flying Fury" out of print?

The online translator got that one right. A rare event! Sagittarius Rising has also been translated into Finnish. However, the name of the book in Finnish is Hävittäjälentäjä, which simply means "fighter pilot".
  19. "Flying Fury" out of print?

Flying Fury out of print? That's a shame. Fortunately I got my copy years ago. It's actually one of the very few WW1 aviation books that have been translated into Finnish.
  20. ROF Claims Theft...Is It True?

For some reason, the sim community as a whole has always been burdened by people who almost fanatically defend their own favourite sim and hate everything else. It's stupid and not at all useful, considering what a small group of people we are and just how little money there is to be made in the sim business compared to almost any other genre of video games. I like to stay out of all that crap and enjoy the sims. Live and let live, right?
  21. ROF Claims Theft...Is It True?

I'm not angry, but sad and disappointed. I like both sims. I don't want either one to fail. But this kind of talk is unacceptable, and hurts the small flight sim community. He should apologize.
  22. Bletchley's AA Mod

Absolutely true. There are always some things that can be added or changed. But the ideal situation is to have the game in such a good state out of the box that there are no obvious flaws or anything that desperately needs to be fixed by mods. It also makes it simpler to manage things when you don't have a million mods that may cause some unexpected trouble.
  23. ROF Claims Theft...Is It True?

That's unfortunate and stupid. This is not what our hobby needs.
  24. Bletchley's AA Mod

I thought that would be the case. Good to see I wasn't wrong. It's indeed an impressive dedication to detail and historical research. It's great that OFF can be modded (and there are some great people making the mods), but the less mods are needed, the better. An ideal situation would be to have such a perfect sim that there would be no need for users to modify any part of it. And it looks like OFF2 is heading in that direction.
  25. Bletchley's AA Mod

Great! OFF2 won't need any such mods, because it will already work like that out of the box, right?
