* * PHASE 4 PREVIEW MOVIE 1 ! * *
Hasse Wind replied to Polovski's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Will we be able to actually take recon photos when in a recon squadron? What about artillery cooperation squadrons? Any fire direction missions for them, with a map and a wireless set? And bombing missions, with bombsights for aircraft which had them? I'm absolutely sure more people would fly two-seaters if they could do all the things that those squadrons were historically assigned to do, and not just fly around and pretend to be doing it. I don't expect everything to work exactly like in real life, but it would be great if we could do something. -

Looks like we won't run out of squadrons in P4. -

I have to say that you've already exceeded my expectations. I had no idea you could do such things with CFS3. Amazing! -

It's getting better all the time! Really looks like P4 will have all the things I miss about Red Baron 3D, and then some. -

I've watched the movie again a couple of times, trying to spot some details that I previously missed. I really like the look of the new campaign manager. It brings back a lot of good memories from the Red Baron days. That sim knew how to create wonderful immersion in its depiction of the Great War. Some of that is lacking in P3, but P4 looks like it's going to reinvent the whole meaning of immersion! -
Happy birthday from me too. If you need a walking stick now, I'm sure Olham can recommend some good models for you.

Hey, that looks like my typical Nupe landing in a certain WW1 flight sim! The pilot doesn't look very proud of his situation.

That describes very accurately the current high standards of journalism.

OT: According to the Red Cross I'm a criminal
Hasse Wind replied to Von Paulus's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Ridiculous. But not surprising. Historically speaking, every belligerent of WW1 was practically competing with each other over who managed to break more rules of warfare. The conventions have never done a good job at regulating the business of death and destruction. That's just the way humans behave when fighting each other. Somebody will always break the rules, and that will be used as an excuse by the othes to do the same. And often there's no need for excuses, everybody just does it anyway. The medals don't look bad either. And the music! So many new tracks! -

Wow. Just... wow. The new map in the manager looks great. I'd say it's one of the most important improvements from P3, good maps being absolutely crucial to aviation. Don't release P4 until I can get my new PC next year! -

Nice pics! I have a career pilot stationed at Sierentz. A nice place, far away from the nasty big battles. Sitzkrieg at its best. -
Reminder for realistic Campaignflying in P3

Now THAT sounds promising! -

Reminder for realistic Campaignflying in P3
Hasse Wind replied to Creaghorn's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
This is good advice for patrol flying. I've done it myself sometimes. It will be interesting to see how the waypoint system will work in P4. It would be nice if the missions were restricted to certain sectors of the front, in order to reflect the historical organisation of aviation units. Each of them had its own role and was assigned missions accordingly to certain areas. It doesn't have to completely imitate history with every event, but it would be great if I knew that my squadron is now flying under orders from Corps X and is supporting its operations in sector Y of the front. That would be so much more immersive than what we have now (which is great too). -
OT Bethesda...In Development

It's made by the same team that made Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Very promising. -
Widowmaker, your Sopwith Snipe is getting tested!

That second version looks better. I wonder if we'll have both in P4? -

To be honest, I don't think the Snipe looks particularly good. The tail section is ugly. But it doesn't matter, because it was an excellent fighter. -
What about vampirism? I remember it was possible to become a vampire in Morrowind and Oblivion, but it wasn't exactly like being Dracula. Can it be done in Skyrim, and is it any fun?

Does the high resolution setting remove all visible damage, like broken wings? I've never used it.

For once, Matrix (and Slitherine) are selling a new game at a low price. Typically you'll have to wait at least one year to see any kind of drop in the price. And yeah, Panzer Corps is very addictive. It's important to set your expectations to the correct level, though. It's not an ultra-realistic, hardcore simulation of operational warfare, but more like chess with much more interesting units and rules. If you like that, it's one of the best wargames available now.

So you shot down an invisible Nupe, eh? Good luck with that claim report! Speaking seriously, that's pretty cool! -
Very interesting, thanks for posting this. I started from P3, so I don't know much about the previous phases. Yes, we've come really far!

Can't argue with results: Fonck did what he did better than anybody else on the Entente side. From a military point of view, that was all that mattered. However, it seems he wasn't exactly a charismatic leader of men. Aces like Boelcke and Richthofen excelled at that, in addition to being great tacticians.
