  1. Scramble mission with an artillery spotter squadron (FA(A) means Flieger-Abteilung, Artillerie, in English Flying Detachment, Artillery) makes no sense, so I won't fly such missions. I hope WOFF will have a better system for two-seater careers.
  2. German 2 seater campaign

Have you mapped a key for it? Check the settings. I control the bombsight through a button on my joystick.
  3. OFF2 DEVELOPMENT Screenshots

I don't think there's going to be a huge improvement in the graphics department. It's still the same engine, after all. The new screenshots show improvements, but nothing that requires a super powerful rig. So if somebody bought a good PC a year or two ago, I'm sure it'll be more than enough to play WOFF smoothly.
  4. German 2 seater campaign

The bombsight in DFW is super accurate. You can't miss if you just aim with the center of the sight. It's like using modern precision weapons.
  5. German 2 seater campaign

Yes, but the OP is asking about German 2-seater campaigns. I haven't yet encountered a German two-seater or single-seater unit that has Brisfits...
  6. German 2 seater campaign

It is, but which two-seater Abteilung in the Luftstreitkräfte has access to it?
  7. Albatros-Man strikes again

Yes, I'd love to see more Albatros two-seaters in WOFF.
  8. German 2 seater campaign

The DFW C.V is the best of the bunch. It climbs very well and has a very high ceiling, making it a challenging two-seater for Entente fighters to intercept. It also has a bombsight, which makes bombing considerably more easier. For some reason it's the only two-seater in OFF with a bombsight. And if you do get shot, the DFW also works nicely as a glider, especially if you were smart enough to have plenty of altitude when you got hit. I hope two-seaters will be even more realistic and better modelled in WOFF. In OFF P3, two-seater careers aren't as well developed as fighter careers. But it can still be fun to fly them. Gives a very different perspective on the air war. Remember, that's what the majority of WW1 airmen did - they served either as two-seater pilots or observers. Fighters existed simply because it was important to prevent the enemy two-seater crews from doing their jobs.
  9. OFF2 DEVELOPMENT Screenshots

I think there's been a misunderstanding. I wasn't suggesting that the devs release an unfinished and buggy product like CFS3 or RB2. I was only saying that you can add things like new aircraft and squadrons, maybe even a new theatre of war (Italy!) in expansion packs and there's no need to try to add everything to the basic release version. It goes without saying that nobody wants to get a buggy POS after waiting for so many years. But there are dangers in waiting forever too. There's now some serious competition to OFF, with some very active development.

You can always release expansion packs to the base game, with new aircraft, squadrons and stuff. That's a standard business model these days. I'm sure people would be willing to support the development of WOFF like that, so in my opinion, there's no need to try to add everything at once to the release version of the sim.

What an effective trap! I really, really hope we'll get WOFF this year. OFF P3 with mods is still fun to play, but I agree with CaptSopwith - the community needs WOFF to release soon.
  12. Holy Brisfit!

There was a reason why the Brisfit was kept in service until the early 1930s.
  13. With OFF P3 getting very old and little to no news about WOFF, it's only natural that the forum is much less active these days. I'm sure we'll be seeing much more activity once WOFF is finally released.
  14. I've had a smoother experience with OFF on my Win 7 64 system than I ever had with my old XP machine. In my opinion, there's no need to worry about compatibility issues.
  15. Up And Going!

If you want to fly as a French or American pilot, you have some different options. The French have their excellent Nieuport 11 and 17 fighters for 1916. For example in the summer of 1916 you are pretty much invincible if you fly a Nieuport 17 in some elite Escadrille, like Esc. 3. Later (1917) the French will receive their tough and fast SPAD fighters, which the American air service will also use in 1918. But the SPADs are not as forgiving to newbies as the other fighters mentioned here. Now if you want to fly as a two-seater pilot, there's a whole new world waiting for you. I definitely recommend giving them a try. You'll get a better understanding of what the reality of air combat in WW1 was for the majority of pilots, because the fighters were in the minority. The best two-seaters you can fly in OFF are the German DFW C.V and the British Sopwith Strutter and the Bristol Fighter (Brisfit). The Brisfit is also deadly as a fighter. Give it a try and be ready for a surprise.
  16. Up And Going!

The SE.5a is a great choice for a newbie. It's tough, fast and easy to fly. However, 1918 is a very busy year with lots of battles and air activity. It would be easier to start in 1917. There are two elite squadrons, No. 56 and 60, that fly the SE in 1917. Being in an elite unit greatly helps your chances of survival. If you want to fly for Central Powers, late 1916 and early 1917 are excellent choices. During that period, the Germans have an advantage over the Entente air forces with their superb Albatros D.II and D.III fighters. They also have plenty of good quality squadrons (Jastas) that you can join, like Jasta 2 or 11. Have fun, and get used to dying a lot.
  17. Unfair Work Conditions!

They must have noticed that somebody is spending way too much time on OFF forums.
  18. This thread is not for posting screenshots from other sims, like IL2. Carry on!

Some additional information regarding Marine-Feld-Jagdstaffel 1 (in German): http://www.frontflieger.de/2-mfj1.html
  20. Fokker was good at taking credit for other peoples' work, that can't be denied. In reality, he wasn't the big genius making all the important inventions, but he was great at choosing the right people to work for his company, and he knew how to make and uphold the crucial connections to powerful people who made the decisions of what kind of aircraft to put into production, and he was also in close contact with many of the aces who actually had to flew his company's designs, thus giving his opinions even more weight with the brass hats, especially later in the war. These were all important skills for a successful businessman, and that's what Fokker was.
  21. Zeppelin Killing 101...

I think that max speed refers to this aircraft: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deperdussin_Monocoque So that two-seater in the picture must be a heavily modified Deperdussin. However, the aircraft mentioned by JFM had an 80 hp Gnome, while the Deperdussin had a special 14 cylinder 160 hp Gnome. I can think of no good reason for changing that engine into a less powerful one, unless it had something to do with production and logistical issues.
  22. Zeppelin Killing 101...

Yeah, something's not right with that description. It doesn't sound like they're talking about the same type of aircraft.
  23. Zeppelin Killing 101...

Basically, that design looks actually better than a Fee, and if the Fee was a success, that one could also have been. But I haven't heard anything about them, so there must be something that didn't go right. A standing gunner was nothing spectacular in WW1 two-seaters, so I don't think that's the reason. Maybe there were some technical problems?
  24. Zeppelin Killing 101...

Anybody know if that setup had any successes? The British Fees also had standing gunners and they were able to shoot down quite a few enemy aircraft. Even Manfred v. Richthofen himself was badly wounded by such a standing Fee gunner.
