  1. Fun little deal over on GoG...

GOG.com sells games that are fixed to be fully compatible with modern PC's and operating systems. You don't need to do anything special to make them work, just install and play. They provide an excellent service, and have no nasty DRM in any of the games they sell, which is extremely rare these days. You buy it, you own it. But at least for me RB2 is ancient history and only has nostalgic value. It can't be compared to modern flight sims. It's old, and it really shows in every department. The only impressive thing about it even by modern standards is the excellent campaign mode. But otherwise, it's nothing but nostalgia.
  2. Wonderful On Board Footage

Wow! Nice vid and Olham's "map detective" work is impressive as always. Now we are going to see this level of detail in P4, right?
  3. Imagine fighting in this!

I've seen some pics of these experimental WW1 armours before. They tried many things during the Great War, including these Star Wars plates. They were too cumbersome and not good enough to protect from all bullets, shrapnel and shell and bomb fragments.
  4. Well, you can say anything you want when selling items at eBay. They may be real, or not. But that's an awful lot of money for a pair of s*itty goggles. Just my opinion, of course.
  5. Ah, there you are, OvS!

Hopefully the silence means he's working hard on P4.
  6. How many times to install...

Win 7 does have XP compatibility mode (just like Vista) but I have never used it for OFF.
  7. How many times to install...

I'm using Windows 7 and have had no trouble with OFF. Have you tried any compatibility settings when you install it, just in case?
  8. Don't feel too bad, Olham. The Brits practically have a monopoly on good humour.
  9. N-24

It's very sweet of you to defend your fat lady, Olham.
  10. N-24

Nieuport experimented a lot with various MG configurations on the N.17. But all the experiments had similar results - the plane lost too much of its speed and maneuverability if it had more than one gun. Only the N.28 was powerful enough to be armed with two guns, but the SPAD's had already replaced the Nupes in French service and the Americans were the only users of the N.28. Similar tests were made with Sopwith Tripes, and that plane also lost some of its performance when it had two guns. German fighters of the period were usually heavier and clumsier than Entente fighters, because they had two guns.

Recently vitamin D has received quite a lot of attention from scientists. All vitamins are important, but this one might be even more important for us than has been previously understood. Apparently it's quite common to receive less vitamin D than the body needs for optimal performance, even in regions with more sunlight than up here north. Serious deficiency is easier to notice of course, because it causes serious symptoms, but lesser cases can be more difficult to notice.
  12. An overdose of excellent Christmas music.
  13. Guess where I've been today?

Isn't modern technology just wonderful and amazing? Only a few years ago this would have been nothing but science fiction. Just load a simple program and you can see the whole planet from the screen of your computer. It's almost unbelievable.
  14. Guess where I've been today?

Well that's easy. You chose probably the most obvious landmark in the town, the Jätkänkynttilä bridge, built in 1989. It crosses the Kemijoki river. In Rovaniemi, Finland.

Beautiful pics, Olham. I really like those reflections in the water. Enjoy the winter weather down there. Sunlight (UVB radiation) causes skin to produce vitamin D. In winter there is much less sunlight (or practically none at all, depending on the latitude), so there will be less vitamin D produced. Therefore you should compensate and get it more from food or pills. Fish, liver and liver oils, eggs and some mushrooms are good natural sources of vitamin D.

The snowstorms and cold weather that has been ravaging much of Europe for the past few weeks have spared Portugal? You lucky bastards in your sunshine.

We actually have a word for the depression caused to some people by the constant lack of daylight in winter; kaamosmasennus. It affects about 3-5 % of the population. Light treatment and vitamin D help against it. But the darkness affects everybody somehow. Maybe that is why we like to drink so much.

That's plenty of snow. How long are the days there in winter? Up here in the Arctic the darkest weeks of the year are upon us now - in the northernmost areas you can only see a glimpse of the sun when you climb to a high hill or tunturi, but even in more southern regions the sun stays extremely low on the horizon, and daylight lasts only for a few hours. For me the snow and the cold are not too much of an issue, but the lack of daylight can be somewhat depressing in the long run. It does make one really appreciate the long summer days and nights when there is no darkness at all.
  19. Guess where I've been today?

Nice house, Lou. Yeah, if the town is very very small, more like a village, then I suppose you learn to know it really well as years go by.

Looks like Britannia has been defeated by General Winter. Below is a typical pic of a typical winter with a typically low temperature from here:
  21. Guess where I've been today?

It's not necessarily easy to recognize your hometown from a picture, especially if the pic doesn't show any famous places or something. For example I certainly have never visited each and every corner of my hometown or paid any special attention to every street and alley, so it's very likely you could show me a pic and I didn't have a clue what it was about. And if one lives in a really big city, it must be even more challenging. It seems to me that most people stick to places that are closest to their home, work, friends and family, but of course there are some exceptions who like to examine every nook and cranny.
  22. The talk about P4 is so last year, Olham. We have decided to move on to P5.
  23. When P5 comes out, I imagine DirectX 11 will be quite old.
