I bought BHaH a good while back (couple of years?), installed CFS3, patched it, and then installed and set up OFF-BHaH. No problems. My PC then was not really up to the task of running it well, so I quit. Well, I got my PC re-built and it now has a new processor, but it also has Windows 7. (Arrrgh, I hates it, I was running XP before and it was great.) Anyway, I thought I'd try this again. I installed CFS3, then patched it. I went to install OFF-BHaH, and during the install, it tells me some of the info it needs is encrypted. I never saw this prompt before during my installation of BHaH, in fact, I've never seen it during any installation. The only thing that is different now than before is that I'm running Windows 7. Have y'all ever run into this issue before? I checked the FAQ and didn't see this as an issue, but perhaps I'm missing something. Help . . . please? Thanks! Warren

Issues With Setting Up in Windows 7

Thanks Bit Locker. I've gone in, and the only thing I've found is "manage file encryption certificates". It says I don't have a certificate, and did I want to create one. Is this what you're talking about? Warren -
Issues With Setting Up in Windows 7
dixieflyer replied to dixieflyer's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
To the best of my knowledge, I don't have Bitlocker. What is it? I'm running the same security/anti-virus/ anti-malware program I had during my first install, so that's not it. (That was my first thought.) I can't think of anything that is running or installed on this computer that wasn't running before the rebuild with the exception of Windows 7 (which I have come to hate, wish I had my XP back.) Doctor Quest, I can't run the BhaH install as an admin because I can't get it installed. It locks up and says there is a file that it is trying to extract that is encrypted. I have to assume it's a CFS3 file. Tranquillo, I haven't given up entirely, but just for now because, as you said, many folks are off doing other things. So, I'll give it a few days and see how it looks. (And yes, you're right there are a LOT of knowledgeable folks on here, and nice to boot!) Warren -
Issues With Setting Up in Windows 7
dixieflyer replied to dixieflyer's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Well, I tried doing this after running CFS3 as an administrator, still no joy. Oh well, guess it's off to try another game/sim from another time period to see if it will work. Thanks for your help, time, and advice. Warren -
Issues With Setting Up in Windows 7
dixieflyer replied to dixieflyer's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Thanks pards. It's weird, the first time I ever installed it, everything just clicked along with no problem. Last night I got that pop-up prompt, and I've NEVER gotten that prompt in installing any game before. Maybe I should just delete everything and start over again? Warren -
OK, I solved my INI file problem below by uninstalling OFF and putting it back on. I now have a larger problem. When I first got the game, I had some problems getting it going, but Polovski walked me through and I was up and running with little to no problem. Most of my problem had to do with graphics settings etc. I flew the sim for about a week, but had to let it go and get back to the business of school. I went to go back to the game last week, and it is constantly locking up on me. When I was first running it I had the sliders on 3 except one, which I can't quite remember now, on 4. I have all of my sliders on 2 now, and I cannot get it to run for the world. I defragged my HD last week to see if that would help. I shut down some processes that were running, and that didn't help either. I cannot imagine what has changed to make the sim change. Any ideas? Warren

Game Locking up for ? Reason
dixieflyer replied to dixieflyer's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Well Dutch, it is the same video card that I was using when the sim was running fine (like a house on fire) last month. The card has not changed, the PC I run it on has not changed (no new programs, etc.), but yet something must have for it to be locking up like it is. The mystery is out there, somewhere. Everything was fine until I screwed up downloading the latest patches, it seems, and I stripped everything off, and put it all back on again. As I said, I'll look into this more when I have time in a month or two. Warren -

Thanks Bird Dog. I hope to iron this out when school is out and I have more time to devote to it. Sounds like we are in the same boat. Warren -

Game Locking up for ? Reason
dixieflyer replied to dixieflyer's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
Sitting Duck, I haven't played CFS3, except to "initiate" it for the installation of OFF BHaH. When I did that, it performed fine. I can play IL-2 1946 with all the bells and whistles and all the stops pulled out without a hitch. My PC has: 2 GB RAM an Intel 2.66 processor, and a GeForce 7900 GS card. As I said when I first had OFF up and running, I had the sliders at 3 with maybe one at 4, no problem. Now, I have them all the way back to 2 and it locks up constantly. Thanks for all your help and advice. Warren -
Where do the cartridges go...?
dixieflyer replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Uncle Al, Yes, that book is a good one. I don't have it in my library, but many of my friends do. Another good one is the one by Harry Woodman (St. Harry to modlers :) ) Hasse Wind, You won't go wrong with the Datafiles and such from Albatros. Pricey? Yes, but they are the best game in town. Primarily aimed at modelers (like me), they are still chock full of information on the a/c and equipment. If you want ace info, I suggest many of the Osprey titles. If you really want to invest some bucks the books by Flying Machine Press are great! LMK if you need more information on these. HTH, FWIW, YMMV, Warren -

dixieflyer replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Albatros Productions has Mini-Datafiles on the Spandau, Vickers, Lewis, and Parabellum if memory serves. They are about half the cost or less of a regular Datafile because they are about half the size. :) You can order direct from Albatros or a secondary dealer. If I am not ordering direct from Albatros I use Byrd Aviation Books in Virginia here in the U.S. HTH, YMMV, Warren -
Same here Uncle Al. 400 watts. Looking at teh nails I've driven out of the sheet rock flying IL-2. I've GOT to get a new clip and see if my old TrakIR profiles are saved somewhere on my PC. Warren

Where do the cartridges go...?
dixieflyer replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hauksbee, it all depends. As Uncle Al pointed out, Lewis-armed a/c emitted a steady stream of spent brass into the slipstream. Belt-fed MG's such as the Vickers or Spandau had the belts collected in another box, or in the case of some Nieuports, another take up reel. Some a/c such as the SPAD XIII had ejection port chutes (rectangular if memory serves) on the lower starboard side for the spent brass. I am not sure about the Camel. Is there a particular a/c you had in mind? Warren -
The latest issue of Windsock Worldwide had a flyer in it advertising a new book on the construction/fabrication/restoration/whathaveyou, etc. May have to pick that one up to add to my library. Warren

No kiddin'! Sure is a friendly bunch to the new folks. Warren

Siggi, I was just getting the hang of it when my game/system crashed. I have to reinstall and start over. I need to get a replacement TrakIR clip and get that part up and running again too. When all that is done, well then maybe I will be ready to play with the big boys. :) Warren

Ok, something strange just happened to my OFF. I went to play, put the CFS3 CD in the drive, and then clicked on my OFF icon on my desktop. Boom! I get an error message telling me that there was an error in reading the INI file, and that I should uninstall and reinstall OFF BHaH. What's up with that? Granted, when I got the game, I had issues, but Povloski walked me through them, and I was up and running. The game has crashed on me lately the last couple of times I tried to play it, but I figured it was some type of problem having to do with my settings or some such. Any ideas anybody, short of uninstall/reinstall????? TIA for your help and advice. Warren

Yes, this months Windsock International came with a flyer advertising a book on the construction and details of this a/c. I'm thinking of getting it as I am a sucker for the old pusher a/c such as the "Fee, D.H.2's, etc. Warren

Captain Ashley s first and last flight (video)
dixieflyer replied to Jammer28's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Great vid Jammer, can't wait to get my TrakIR going again myself. How did you capture this to make a video? I would like to try it sometime. Warren -
LOL Uncle Al! the same thing happened to a friend of mine who took a break from building models to run down to the store. He wondered why everyone gave him the same look as you got, and when he got home, he realized he had left his optivisor on, just flipped it up out of the way. Warren

Olham, Do not feel bad, even today primary source documents are not in agreement with each other in regards to performance. There was a recent discussion over on the Aerodrome about the engine in the D.VIIF and even the original sources from Germany are not in agreement with each other as to the horsepower, speed, etc. We just have to chalk it up to one of those things in history we may never truly know. (Which is the beauty of studying history, all that "CSI" work.) The D.VII is not my favorite German a/c either, I am an Albatros man myself as well. Of course, the beautiful design came about as a result of the Germans capturing my favorite French a/c, the Nieuport. Like you though, I would pick a D.VII in an online late war scrap. Warren

Guys, y'all really need to make your way over to the Aerodrome, http://www.theaerodrome.com/ . They have not only a forum, but a gallery featuring many of the artists whose work was used without permission in this YouTube video. If you need a break between missions, it is a nice place to spend some time. FWIW, Warren
