  1. Do we have any idea how big the borders on the Iceland map are? I've tried pushing the boundary back from 80000 to 35000 and even 10000 and I still get the backwards flying planes - could it be that the AI is trying to do a CAP over an off-map base, therefore smacking into the borders?
  2. Changing the subject just a tad, has anyone figured out what's causing AI flights to spawn flying backwards / sideways? I've had it happen on multiple terrains, not just IcelandNA.
  3. IIRC the only actual combat Phoenix kill was by an IRIAF Kitty, so there you have it. I've done the same thing - the TW Tomcat is fine, but the TMF F-14 is probably the pinnacle of user-made content for any flight sim. It's amazing, and with the new capabilities the NA engine brings and the hard work of you and Caesar and the others, integrating the Phoenix capability will perfect it.
  4. It would be awesome to get some Darkstar or Cylon voices. On the topic of CVBGs on stock terrains, here's some testing I've been doing, specifically with the stock Desert terrain: 1. I marked the terrain as NavalMap=TRUE in the ini. 2. I modified the Desert_Watermap.bmp with the green and yellow fleet area designations. 3. Testing with a stock carrier based plane (the F-4B_67) and single, random generated missions using multiple mission roles (SWEEP, CAP, CAS, STRIKE) without the mission editor, I got random placement of the USN CVBG (including off the shore of Paran) and random land-based targeting. All random fleet placements were outside of the boundaries set by the green box. 4. I repeated the test, but without a modified Desert_Watermap.bmp, and got the exact same behavior. 5. Marking the Desert.ini as NavalMap=FALSE, all aircraft went back to being based on land. As an addendum, I ran a series of 5-7 missions with the Persian Gulf terrain and the watermap posted in the KB thread. The CVBG was placed in the fleet boundaries and spawned at nearly the same place every time, regardless of aircraft or time frame. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, since PureBlue's terrain watermaps are working fine (IsraelME, VietnamSEA, Persischer Golf).
  5. Hey Dave, great job on this bird. Wanted to point out a quick error with the folder structure for the decals - the F-16ABlk10 folder is present twice, so you have Decals\F-16ABlk10\F-16ABlk10\xxx. Not a big deal, just thought you might want to know. Thanks for the work!
  6. I'm getting the same behavior, regardless of the service I'm flying for (carrier strikes only). I've tried using the mission editor to select a different target, and while I can select one of the Red runways as a target, the waypoints don't update and continue to show the carrier group as the target area.
  7. With Stary's SARCASM 1.2 and Polak's sky mod.
  8. Looks great Stary, it's the first mod I install and this new version is fantastic.
  9. I haven't started adding mods yet, but I'm going to go slowly. A couple of bugs I've noticed: 1. Occasionally the game will spawn multiple ships inside of each other, including carriers. 2. I'm glad I backed up my controls.ini before I started the game, since it seems SF2NA completed borked my control file by having all controls offset by one key in the configuration menu. I restored my controls.ini from a backup and everything seems to work, so I don't know if it was an isolated incident or the controls file is actually messed up. Working fine now, though.
  10. My favorite DLC is the F-4EJ, namely because the paint jobs are wicked.
  11. Here's a neat article from CNN about the Abe Lincoln and transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Both videos have some pretty sweet F/A-18 footage including what looks like the VFA-34 CAG bird. http://www.cnn.com/2...l?iref=obinsite EDIT: That's not VFA-34's CAG bird. I can't identify it, unfortunately. 1:51 of the first video; anyone with better eyes than me?
  12. Carrier Ops in the Strait of Hormuz

Oh nice, thanks guys (and especially Sid!) That was driving me crazy!
  13. The importance of a clean machine (internally!)

I've seen some pretty nasty computers at my shop - I have a pair of Mechanix gloves that I use when they're too nasty to touch with bare hands. I take an air compressor to my desktop about once a month - also gives me a chance to make sure all cables are secure and such!
  14. Any time you hear the AI say "missile launch" or some variant thereof and it shows up in red in the subtitles, but you don't hear the RWR giving you a lock signal, definitely dump flares and break. It's become reflex for me at this point, especially since it seems the only missiles that get me anymore are IR. It's easy enough to break radar lock in a modern plane, but sometimes an AI pilot will still sucker me in and his wingman will try to get me with a heater. As Wrench said, rely on your situational awareness. I know it can get hard keeping track of everything, but just imagine if it were a real plane and we couldn't just refly the mission!
  15. Subscription Plans NOW Available

Just re-upped for another year. I love this community and the talent we have here. Thanks for all your hard work and I hope CA stays around for a long time!
  16. F-18 + Go-Pro = Awesome

Awesome in-the-cockpit footage from some F-18 pilots. Great shot of aggressor camo scheme at 2:56. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qf_hdFSnOEI
  17. I'll go with Tuesday, April 3, 2012!
  18. Just Heard

The Bodyguard was a pretty good movie, I thought. Wasn't a big fan of her music, but it's always sad to see someone go before their time. Don't do drugs!
  19. Hey there Su-27 buddy. Beautiful day for flying, innit?
  20. HUDDATA.ini is the file, and it would need to be extracted from the cat file. There's some information in the Knowledge Base about extracting individual files from the CAT packs. Keep in mind that the engine doesn't actually support multiple monitors though, so it would be sketchy at best.
  21. "Two weeks." There's no set release date, but the flood of new screenshots makes me think it'll be relatively soon.
