  1. Better watch out Olham. You might like the DVII. Naaahh...... just can't imagine you in anything but your trusty Albatros. Although you could use your new craft as an element of surprise. Who is that exceptional pilot in that new DVII ?
  2. Lozenge Camo question.

Hi Olham, Thankyou for the reply and the complement. There really is a great wealth of knowlege around here. Now we have plenty of Lozenge colours for a Fokker DVII. You really are very active in ths forum helping everyone out and comming up with interesting ideas. You are a big asset to this close community. Keep up the good work. That model really is a pleasure to fly. If the real one flies anything like it, I can see why it was so successful. Thanks again, Speedski
  3. Lozenge Camo question.

My Fokker is still flying after 8 years and I am amazed at that as I have replaced the electric engine several times. It now runs a brushless motor which I expect to last a long time. Good luck with yours. Cheers, Speedski
  4. Lozenge Camo question.

I researched and built a Fokker DVII years ago and seem to remember that the 4 colour Lozenge was used for Fighter scouts and 5 colour for Navel aircraft. A third more uniform hexagonal print was used for bombers. There then was a different colour used on the top and underside. I have all the patterns and have supplied the ones for the Fokker DVII This was all done some time ago and my research and memory could be wrong but I did devote quite some time to it. I hope this helps The Down bright pinkish pattern is the underside. Speedski
  5. OT Nazi Guards (funny)

How about "Dad's Army" always a favourite of mine. Just some good old English humour and I see nothing more in it . :) Speedski
  6. OT - my latest model

Well done, nice neat looking model. Good workmanship. Speedski
  7. Buy a can of nitrate aircraft dope for fuel and you will have the smoke , the smell, the fire and an emergency thrown in ! Good grief. Speedski
  8. Some of us that left, never really left. We are just very very quiet. Cheers lou, all the best. Speedski
  9. Thankyou everyone, I just love all this stuff. Great work. Kindest regards, Speedski
  10. OFF Forum Pilots Maps

  11. My best pilot

Really good stuff guys. Well done Speedski
  12. Olham' yes I have been flying in 1918. Nice and busy. I think I saw you there. Didn't I shoot you down a while back ? ( This is where you come back with the comment about the nurse ) Cheers, Speedski
  13. It surprises me to hear people say they don't like scrambles. I see scramble appear at briefing and I smile, have a little squirm in my seat and say , Yeah get me up there. I have tried to set most things on realistic. Last time I looked I think it said %130 , is that possible? I do use warp because I like lots of action. I don't think it makes it any easier, perhaps the opposite. It certainly makes you work to stay alive. Anyway, for me, I love the furballs , and if you are by yourself you work up a nervous sweat. If you survive and send the last one spiralling down, you have a great sense of achievment returning safely back at the home airfield. How about surviving a furball, youre chasing the last enmy on your own and you get jumped by another 5 enmy. Now this sim really knows how to put the pressure on and keep it on. I am sure at times in the real war people faced daunting odds. Just love the sim. Cheers, Speedski
  14. Movie with a lot of real RFC a/c

Great footage and music, thanks. Hey Uncleal, I have Aces High too. Great movie. Cheers, Speedski
  15. Love the new DVIII

I think the DVIII turned out the nicer looking aircraft with the rotary. It just has more character. Speedski
  16. 17 Hours?

Hey there Uncleal, I love that bit about how you get to pick which side you die for. You come out with some classics, and how true it is. Made me laugh. Cheers, Speedski
  17. Some "Blue Max" movie info ...,

Ahh...I see the triplane fly under the bridge scene was flown by the famous glider pilot Derek Piggott. I did not know that Thanks WF2 Speedski
  18. Meet the Macklroys

This is all getting too realistic. My nervs get a testing at times with just one pilot's career at a time, ME. Ya kinda want to know what it was really like back in the Great War but ya kinda don't know if ya wan't to really experience it. I admire your courage Macklory. Now remember....it's not real.......it's not real........it's not real. Just keep telling yourself that to stay sane. Good luck and good hunting, Speedski
  19. OT Anyone play a Musical Instrument?

Funny, I just came into my home office to turn on my computr but instead I first picked up my guitar and played a tune. I then turned on my computer only to find this topic. Cheers Widowmaker and enjoy your music. Your guitar will always be there for you, Speedski
  20. Well done Jammer28. enjoyed it. Cheers, Speedski
  21. Sideslips

Thanks for the welcome back Womanfly2. Nce videos, we will have the sky full of people having fun practising slipping all over the place I'm sure. I have a vision of closing time down at the local. Cheers, Speedski
  22. Sideslips

I don't have Trackir either rayfer. I do have rudder pedals but I haven't always. Yes it is doable. You are trying to co-ordinate 3 controls at once with one reversed so you will get better with practice. You will master it I am sure just keep at it. You will use it often once you do master it. Cheers, Speedski.
  23. Sideslips

Ahh.....now why did I kind of expect a visit from our lovely aviatrix on this one. So we are going sideways when we forward slip but we are going forwards when we sideslip :) Greetings to you Womanfly2, Speedski
  24. Sideslips

Yes it is an excellent question and a much used technique. Side slipping is used when you want to loose height without building up speed. You don't need to use your engine, in fact if you are using a side slip it is often because yours has stopped. Let's say you have lost your engine. Pick your landing field and set up your approach with a bit too much height. Once you have turned on to final approach you should still be too high. Lower the nose and boot in enough rudder and opposite aileron. It is a co-ordination of all three controls to adjust your glide path. use your elevator to help control your speed. The more height you have to loose, the more forward stick with more rudder and opposite aileron. Don't keep the wings level, use enough aileron to lower the forward wing then you can see where you are going also. Uncleal is right of course, you cant land sideways. When you are at the correct height, smoothly release the rudder and use your ailerons to level your wings while easing back on the stick to bring the nose back up to normal glide angle. Then land as usual. I hope this helps, it's actually fun to do once you are confident with it. Definitely very useful. Cheers, Speedski
  25. Yes, all looks great Pol. Can't thank all the team enough. Make sure you look after the family though. Like Olham says, we all still have much to explore in phase 3. Well, I do. Knowing that the sim is alive and still growing is just fantastic. No rush for me. I still need to buy a new computer, then I will have a new even more detailed sim. Cheers and thanks, Speedski
